I was *just* coming back to speculate about that, dammit! :lolLunaticPuma said:Perhaps the human colony resistance will come into play somewhere as a 3rd party?
Oh god yes. I'd love them to do something like that (would be up for stomping Humans too whether I be Spartan or Covie).GhaleonEB said:Just watch: Bungie will pull a Halo 2 and have part of the story told from the Covenant point of view. (Which I wouldn't mind...)

I would REALLY like to see some sort of Forerunner tech that goes beyond Sentinels. That could prove interesting. Also, Forerunner armor ftw? That would mix things up, though I am unsure if that would be a Bungie thing (focus on Spartan combat) or a 343 industries thing (larger Halo Universe).GhaleonEB said:I was *just* coming back to speculate about that, dammit! :lol
Could be. Though human vs. human combat would be kind of odd in a Halo campaign.

Now that you mention it, the Sentinels were almost completely removed as an enemy in Halo 3. I liked the direction they took in Halo 2, with the three different types. So yeah, there's lots of options between human factions, Forefunner defenses, Covenant, etc.Frenck said:My best guess would be that the Flood is going to be replaced by several new "factions". I'm thinking about the wildlife on Reach, Sentinels, rogue AI's, trained Covenant beasts that turn against their masters and maybe even whatever it was that built the Japanese style ruins that we saw in The Babysitter.
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think there will be a major third faction (it's still Reach, not some uncharted planet), just level specific threats to spice things up.

Yup, see previous posts. Would be a reversal of the Halo 2 early Arbiter missions, fighting the Heretics.Dani said:We already have mention of Insurrectionists...

Three-way battles, though really really scarce, were in Halo 3, they were just not as huge as the ones in Halo 1 and 2. The end of "Halo," for instance. But, yeah, I want me some huge three-way battles.GhaleonEB said:Now that you mention it, the Sentinels were almost completely removed as an enemy in Halo 3. When you see the covenant fighting the monster, you are told not to engage combat, but to just go by unnoticed. You stand and watch the covenant fighting the monster, only to see the covenant get owned.

Letters said:Very exciting the prospect of having human enemies in a Halo game. But I wonder if both the UNSC and the rebels will still be in bad terms after the invasion starts. In any case, if we get to fight them, Bungie better make them really really bad people, I don't like killing humans in videogames just only with the excuse that they have different views to that of my superiors.

I've literally never noticed them. So no, they don't count. :lolDax01 said:Three-way battles, though really really scarce, were in Halo 3, they were just not as huge as the ones in Halo 1 and 2. The end of "Halo," for instance. But, yeah, I want me some huge three-way battles.
True. And tbh morals go out the window the moment I start getting shot at.Dani said:Tough it up. Spartans were created for that purpose originally and they don't question orders either. =P
Sounds good, but maybe for one of the next Halo made by Microsoft.gibonez said:Yea a Battlefield Type multiplayer game would be perfect.
You could have class based multiplayer this way with each type of class having access to certain kits.
Large open sandbox multiplayer with Halo factions but Battlefield Damage and Battlefield style objective based modes. This would be really fun.

I'm really hoping for some forerunner architecture. Human environments are by far Bungie's worse environments. ODST did alright improving upon them but they still didn't hold a candle to covie and forerunner stuff. I like that they're doing some more open-space natural environments as it doesn't matter if that's on a Halo or just Reach, but running through human industrial/military buildings is the worst. Certain pictures in the GI article remind me way too much of running around Rat's Nest/Backout/Crow's Nest though.GhaleonEB said:Speaking of the gore, the Flood were handy in the trilogy for introducing a very different enemy type later in the game. And it will be glorious. Definitely going to be nice for the wait to the Reach Beta.Domino Theory said:Bad Company 2 comes out in March.

The best parts of any Halo games for me is fighting just the Covenant. In Halo CE it was great fighting them in various situations, planning out tactics to approach encounters, taking your time, positioning yourself, trying to find the right tools and such.
I've never even particularly liked the Flood gameplay sections either, just wave after wave of bullet sponges and having a game where you spend the majority of time fight the Covenant and whatnot, having that switched out for the flood and then having the majority of the remaining Covenant fighting sections just not as fun as their attention is diverted away from the player.
I'm hoping Reach features all Covenant, all the time. Halo is at it's best when the enemies have actual intelligence, something the Flood doesn't have, and when you are the primary target of concern for the enemies, like all the pre-Flood Halo: CE missions and ODST.
(Although the leak has suggested that the "ambient life" on Reach may prove to be a distraction for Covenant forces.
Why For? said:Fuck the Flood. They better not find a way to include them.
But Reach WOULD actually be a good opportunity to go Halo 2 and have a level or 2 from the Covenant perspective since you know, they win and all.
As long as the game doesn't END as you playing as the covenant.
End it playing as Master Chief for more epic.
I think it's a given that at least a few missions will be human interiors given the setting, but as with Halo 3 I'm hoping those are the exceptions. I'm with you in terms of location preferences all around.EazyB said:I'm really hoping for some forerunner architecture. Human environments are by far Bungie's worse environments. Gotham TV Halo style would be the shit. Or a spectate mode for Customs (for refs for example).
Need MP info, when's the next GI update?
Like Domino said, it's tomorrow, but I wouldn't expect multiplayer info from it. I thought the multiplayer info was planned to come later. Plus, isn't there something in the GI article about them not seeing multiplayer at all?MagniHarvald said:You're the man Urk

I'm completely expecting Forerunner structures in the game. It just wouldn't feel like Halo without Forerunner buildings. I'm thinking Noble team will stumble across something.GhaleonEB said:I think it's a given that at least a few missions will be human interiors given the setting, but as with Halo 3 I'm hoping those are the exceptions. As for the GI pics, it looks to me like they're all from two missions, and both featuring extensive outdoors areas. That shot of the base at night is especially nice and offers up some interesting encounter possibilities.
But yea. It wouldn't be Halo without some Covenant or Forerunner structures.
I think it's about as likely as matchmaking in multiplayer.big ander said:I'm completely expecting Forerunner structures in the game. It just wouldn't feel like Halo without Forerunner buildings. I'm thinking Noble team will stumble across something.
