That's Master Chief at least.

Woah that is totally awesome. I never even realised that the cover for the Multiplayer Map Pack for Halo 2 was a picture of Relic...Flipyap said:Visual Atrium- the visual art of Eddie Smith
There's a lot of Halo concept art in the galleries (some VERY well known images)
I really love his early gigantic Spartan concepts, too bad they shrunk in time. This is my favorite: awakening.
Frenck said:My guess about the story behind the pic:
The Pelican was supposed to extract the two Spartans but it came in late and one of them got killed by a plasma shot to the head.
Not sure how I feel about it having MM, but I would like to see larger party sizes.JSRT said:I guess it's safe to assume that Firefight will make a return in Reach, hopefully it will have matchmaking this time around. I only got to play it in ODST like twice...
They said that player's armor customization would carry over from SP (in which you probably play as LWG) to the MP and co-op. This would suggest you use LWG models in MP and from this pic you can see they're quite a bit smaller than the elite models used in Reach. This would make their hitboxes incredibly different and choosing between spartans and elites in the traditional Halo CE/2/3 model wouldn't work; not to mention the story explanation of elites fighting alongside spartans. They could use a different MP model where elites fought spartans but they'd then have to slap on a way to earn elite armor permutations (it seems like the credits/grade system hinted in campaign is used for LWG unlocks) that can't even be used in SP/co-op modes.Blueblur1 said:By the way, where did "No Elites in multiplayer" come from? There's no mention of that in EDGE article.
In that one, no. But he has done a lot more where the scale is better.Warm Machine said:Great rendering quality on that painting but that artist has no sense of perspective or scale.
This got me thinking, might there be some rogue Spartans among the human rebels? It is certainly an odd idea. I mean, what if the rebels are rebels because a Spartan who's disappearance was covered up by ONI and subsequently the UNSC feels betrayed ONI and has rallied some other people...?EazyB said:They said that player's armor customization would carry over from SP (in which you probably play as LWG) to the MP and co-op. So yeah, until Bungie reveals the MP and addressing the issue themselves, no one can say for sure. But I'd be much more surprised if they did include elites in MP with customization comparable to the spartans. With the "lose" of this option hopefully they'll put all that effort into making a shitton of spartan permutations (unlocked using credits earned from all the game modes).

The best plasma was in Halo 1, where even the plasma pistol was a good weapon to fall back on in a tight situation, but still not the flesh melting nightmare we read about in even the earliest novels!
Watch the ooooold ass trailer for Halo from Mac Wiorld '99. The Plasma Rifles were rapid and more streamlined, similar to the Halo 2/3 Covenant Turrets (the portable ones). i always wondered why Bungie changed it.
rar said:the plasma RIFLE needs to be a two-handed weapon that is not dual wieldable, that freezes people like in halo 1
if bungie wanted a automatic dual wieldable plasma weapon, they shouldve made one instead of shoehorning the plasma rifle into that role
RAGE
yeah, while i'm not necessarily a promoter of over-the-top violence like in gears of war, melting amor and burned flesh from plasma shots would add a sense of power to the covenant weaponsgibonez said:If only the wounds from plasma in the games were as vicious as the picture. Armor melting off, pieces of flesh ripped off.
yes pleaseDax01 said:Dual-wielding just needs to be dealt away with entirely. There's no reason to have it.
I partially agree. I mean, the power of the weapons is reduced when dual welding and te advantages are few. A plamsa weapon and a human weapon combo is effective for some but I mean, it just proves a nuisance because you can't fire both at the same time and hit your opponent if they are strafing as the plasma charges will lag beind the bullets.Dax01 said:Dual-wielding just needs to be dealt away with entirely. Syringe said:Hope this wont get me banned on Neogaf, but this is our article about Halo: Reach. In swedish unfortunetly, but lot's of new pictures and so on. I thought everyone in this thread might be interested, and therefore it's completely related.
We'll probably see more of this today since the embargo was until january 25th (which is now in Sweden).
