No idea if they will have it in stock, but the Reach beta is on the main disk. No codes needed.

Edit: Wow, must have went through a time lapse. Beaten a few times over. :lol

The beta is accessed through the game, so you would need to rent it for a while. It's not a download that can be accessed from the dash

Most likely not, due to the whole "ripped out of campaign" idea. But obviously there will still be the same types of maps from previous Halos. Kinda like how Valhalla was the "Blood Gulch" of Halo 3. Spiritual successors if you will. Kinda like how Urk is a spiritual successor of Luke, and Luke is a spiritual successor of Frankie. Poetry folks. It's like poetry.

Damn, I was hoping that if this is Bungie's last Halo, that they would include like a best hits map collection with Blood Gulch, untouched Lockout, Sanctuary, etc.. Well my dream has been crushed on Blood Gulch, and I am almost sure none of the other maps will return either.


Seeing Spartans use jetpacks and sprint across Blood Gulch would have been awesome.


My hopes are now on Forge 2.0..

I think I am most excited for the Pro Pipe. Its alternate fire mode sounds so simple yet awesome. I can imagine some epic stops of a Hog returning to it's base, flag bearer in tow, only to come to a screaching hault from the accuracy of my propipe. :D

I'd expect a more advanced and refined forge before that ever happens. Have to keep the MM numbers up, but there is always the possibility. (not likely)
 
Am I the only dumbass here that thought Blood Gulch wasn't all that awesome? I really hope Bungie lays off the remakes for Reach. Just give us a decent editor so Forge fanatics (like myself) can do remakes until their fingers bleed and let the Bungie folks keep those original ideas flowing. Please.

I think it'll be more like Forge with some additions. Like all the important glitches (geo-merging, floating, interlocking) will be standard, and something like a 90 degree snap feature. That would be enough for me :D

If new maps are the product of the map editor, it's actually easier to integrate them into the playlists, as you don't have to worry about splitting the population. Original DLC integrating is much harder, given the restrictions forced on Bungie by Microsoft.

I'm hoping for a more robust Forge for editing maps, alongside something like a more flexible Sandbox out of the box, and a stronger system for gathering, vetting and integrating custom maps into playlists. Though that's one hell of a big undertaking.

Pretty sure that the level from the GTTV image is the same as one of the levels features from the Fool's Day vidoc, and that the same level is also one we're already familar with, Smelter.

If you look at the Smelter's skybox, it's pinkish, purple sky match that in the video we've seen and the Fool's Day video showed that on one side of the sky, behind the building, the sky's colour transition from blue to pinkish purple.

Additionally, the Fool's Day video shows some obviously human metal works, a panel of some description to the Spartan's left during the PP headshot clip. Upon closer inspection, I doubt the building in the background is Forerunner at all and it looks similar to the various Smelter buildings.

If you look at the GTTV image, you can see it says "XXXX Approach" in the are callout (can't make out the first word too clearly) and the Fool's Day video with the Spartan and Elite takes place in an area called "Cliff Approach".

Also, the Colessium from the Fool's day video has a differet coloured sky, an aqua blue colour and the background seems to feature trees, similar to pines, spread out with a building. So I doubt Colessium will be featured any time soon, not in Invasion (Beta) or in the Beta itself.

Nah, that's a ghost. You can see the empty cockpit.

What weapon? All I see is the ghost, a structure in the background, and maybe some other vehicle in front of that.

Not really. Valhalla is far better than both IMO. BG and Coag were both too wide open, without enough varied terrain to break lines of sight and provide cover.

It basically made every match and sniper, rockets, vehicle battle. If thats all you want out of the map, then great. But I prefer maps that offer opportunities for all sorts of different strategies, weapons and playstyles.

Thats why Standoff and Headlong are among my faves too.

What broke coagulation was smg starts. I could hold down the rock side on Coag with a fully loaded Sniper Rifle and a whole lot of lead. Seeing guys run across the map with no vehicle and just an smg made them irresistible targets. That and the Halo 2 sniper's incredibly generous autoaim.

Introducing BR starts really helped coagulation. Nothing Like Blood Gulch though in my humble opinion.


Ps. WHERE IS THE MAP REVEAL BUNGIE!!!! Haha I kid, I know it will probably be tomorrow, but man this wait sucks.

I had trouble seeing the ghost at first, but then I realized we were looking at it from the side. I want this GTTV episode already.

The mid section doesn't actually resemble the ghost if my memory serves me. It almost looks like a chopper/ghost combo. Perhaps its a new vehicle?
