We really need that Screenshot feature for the Xbox One. :P

It use to be a thing for the Halo Theatre. You could take shots and upload them as the image for your fileshare.

Now I have to use the camera on my tablet to take a shot of my TV lol.
 
Now I want to Forge, thanks guys.

I think I'm going to make a map inspired by the Guardian/Lockout.

Sounds original, I know, but I feel like I have a pretty good layout in my head. I will keep you guys updated!
 
They really need to add more lighting options in future forge iterations. Shame the map is so dark. Might be hard to make out some of the players.

Its weird. On some maps you have to keep an eye on where the sun is. If you cover it up with tall objects, it makes everything dark.

Easier way around for that map would be larger glass windows that would still let light in, or at least do something interesting that casts interesting shadows.

I've noticed this is a problem all through H2A and not necessarily just Forge. I've had lots of trouble seeing enemies in shadows during both MP and campaign. Something is just really off with the lighting which is strange considering both are using different engines entirely. Haven't had a problem in any of the other games though.

Adding some lighting options would be great. Being able to add more than just massive ball lights would make for some interesting maps. Time of day to change the overall map lighting would also be most welcome.

Hardest thing is lining up all the lines so it looks uniform. Kinda wish we had some stripe options.

2nd one looks interesting. Whats the middle like inside?
 
Hey, really nice. Love the trick jump stuff. Reminds me of classic Quake DM levels a bit.

Also, I would so fall off that map haha.

Haha, yeah that run took me a few practice attempts. There's lots space to move around though so the trick jumps aren't necessary. They just mean you get to the sniper/rockets that second faster :p

I love fast mobility maps, especially man-cannons that shoot you into other man-cannons that bounce you around.

Every new Forge, I always try to remake Quake maps lol.
 
How do you work the race gametype in this game? All i want is for players to spawn on a mongoose for a custom game im working on. I dont want any checkpoints or anything, sort of like gungoose ctf, but with mongooses and no objectives.

During Halo 4, there was a trick you could do where you set the Forge objects to spawn 1 second later than usual to get passed the dynamic lighting and brighten the map. In some cases it worked well, but most cases looked really off. I haven't tried it out yet in MCC, but I'm assuming you can do the same thing.

I did wonder if you could spawn geometry later and if it would change the lighting. Not sure how it works now since the maps generate the lighting before a map starts up. Might be some weird tricks as people figure out Forge.

I do enjoy making a map and trying to cast interesting shadows. hah.
 
I haven't checked yet but is there a Rocket Race variant on the disc? That may fit what you are trying to do.

There is when you forge a map, but when you go into customs its only Slayer, Juggernaut, and something else. I dont know how to get people to spawn in on mongooses. I remember doing it in Reach, I just havent figured it out yet.
 
You have to keep in mind that the late spawning object will also not cast a shadow. Sometimes you can get away with spawning in portions the ceiling late to brighten up a map. Or, use glass pieces as ceilings.

Sometimes you can add late spawning bright objects to make the area appear brighter. It's not actually brighter but it can trick the eyes into perceiving the area as being brighter. These "Fluorescent Lights" are an upside down bridge.

My Cage remake is almost done. working on objectives and decorating it.

I need another power weapon to put on the map. Sniper and shotgun are there again. I put the rocket launcher in place of the plasma launcher. Need to put something in place of the grenade launcher. Any suggestions?
 
Can anyone verify that the "SAVE AS" prompt doesn't tell you whether it saved successfully or not? When I hit save, the Map Name box comes up, fill in name, hit menu/done, and it goes back to the pause menu without confirmation.

Need to know if my map is being saved so I don't loose hours of work.

brute shot is as close to the grenade launcher as you can get.

Hah. Couldn't figure out where to put rockets on my symmetrical map (all central locations already utilised), so I ended up using two Brute shots on the sides of the map.

Does the H2AMP Brute Shot function more like the Halo 2 one or the Halo 3 one? I'm guessing Halo 3, so it's basically in the same role as the Concussion Rifle in later titles.

Nope, it bounces off walls and has a higher RoF than Halo 3.

Anyone figured out how to correctly label CTF and Assault? CTF game mode seems to be missing the "ctf_flag" label, and I can't figure out how to use the Objectives-->Zones--Assault Arm, etc. zones.

Edit: CTF flags work with flag stands with the label "ctf" as I expected.

Next question. Has anyone figured out how to change the area of the Assault Arming Zone? I have tried both Assault scoring items, the hard one and the hill marker, both default to the same 3.0 size. I need it to be 0.4.

Is it the one in Objectives, Zones, Assault Goal? You can change the radius when you press X for Object Options.
 
It loses my settings and goes back to default size. I will try again.

Has anyone seen the glitch where the maps lighting is reduced to a square spotlight which follows the player around? We just lost a map to this issue.

[edit] it only seems to happen in some outlying areas of Awash

cant believe how nicely the natural pieces mesh, better than I hoped

They really did a good job with the natural bits. I only wish they had more prefab items to decorate a bit more. Waterfall would be nice. Snow capped versions of the hills/cliffs etc would be great.
 

Just started this map. It's bare-bones at the mo!

It's being made with single flag CTF in mind. The attackers start from the high ground, but the defenders have the majority of power weapons and map control on their side. I'm thinking 12 players max. Looking forward to making it.

I'd suggest using coordinates and snapping to align things better. Will make things look a lot neater. :)

Yeah, turn those magnets on and set them to low and it will help with aligning and sorting things. Great for blocking out rooms and areas nice and quickly.
 
Oh yeah I know, it was a really fast draft. I suppose if I'm going to be lazy I'll do it in an efficient way. :)

Magnets make drafting quick as well. I usually block out a plan first and then change around the basic blocks to prettier things.
 
I still don't know why I can't get killballs to spawn in later in the game. I can do it just fine with mancannons but killballs just never spawn. I've got spawn at start on false and the spawn timer on 70 seconds, that's all there should be to it. It's not gametype specific or anything either.

Edit: Replaced them with visible explosive volumes with kill volumes inside for now. That seems to spawn just fine.
 
Do flags still bounce in Halo 2 anniversary? Trying to design a CTF map and need to know if things will be easily broken or not.
 
So I finished my remake of The Cage. I call it Confined now. If you guys want to download it and give some feedback it's in my fileshare. My GT is ryaN 299.
