If you're still having problems connecting, giving your Xbox a hard reset seems to work quite well.
After the reset; for some reason I'm connecting within 2 minutes of selecting a playlist.
Give it a shot, no promises it will work for you, it could just be a coincidence.

I just got this. I've been in matchmaking for 4 hours tonight (in UK, game came out here yesterday). Not one working match. Also, the game crashed once in the menus.
Microsoft are going to take a kicking for this. It's an online focused game and it just doesn't work.

Shit, this really sucks. I took a half day today. Started install at 2:30. It should really be done by now. It seems like I got all the patches earlier based on bandwith usage but maybe not. Current usage is 178 KB/s and I have 50 megabit Internet... Not happy right now.
Restart your xbox. Settings - power - reboot. That fixes slow downloads for me.

Just jumped up to 5 MB/s so maybe they fixed something on their end.
Same boat here. Taking a day off for a video game was bad enough for me to justify, but then it turns out the damn thing doesn't even work.

I also don't want to start the campaign if it deletes your progress. Maybe it's better to just go play something else til this is fixed.
I was looking forward to this so much. It's immeasurably disappointing.

Since MP is a mess, when I get home with my copy I'm going to do the offline-install trick to get campaign working fast. Then I'll just let the MP update download overnight and maybe by tomorrow night it will be minimally functional.

So i got it today, SO amazing to be able to Halo 2 online again!
I have a Youtube channel i try and do stuff with and me and lisa were going to play some Halo 2 anniversary.
Theres a 15gb day one patch and the disk needs to install....but then I read. You can play before its fully installed,
They made it so the campaign content works first. YEY!

Yes, Been getting this a lot today.
The secret appears to be not to sit waiting for a match, just do a search and if it doesn't find one within a minute, quit and search again. And again. And again. It's luck basically.

its not too bad, When i played it recently its quite fun if you try and play it without stopping, also the banana skull helps.
The whole thing took over an hour and a half. I ended up editing the video down to 10mins so that it didn't drag for anyone watching

Yeah. It's not just a Halo problem either. I finished Sunset Overdrive a little while ago and I didn't unlock any of the achievements for beating the game or watching the credits.
Yeah I had a game earlier where split screeners got split onto separate teams lol.
I always loved The Library. It's a Doom in the Halo universe. Twitch shooting waves of dumb enemies.
