Got into a Halo 2 3v3 on Ivory Tower. It was glorious...

...until the game ended at the score 15-4.

I feel like search times are improving but the general structure, finding games, keeping parties together, etc., is not.

While I've been waiting for this incredibly slow 15GB update to download, I started playing the Halo Anniversary and I think I finally understand the praise for The Silent Cartographer. I first played Halo around the age of 14, and clearly I didn't appreciate what I was playing back then. I loved everything about the level, the music, the level design, and a whole bunch of fun. Fantastic!

Its incredible how well halo 2 and halo 3 have held up and with the improved framerate and upres. Still great fun and a complete joy to play.

343 need to hire someone to work on the UIs in their games, it is still a bit of a mess and really clunky, as Halo 4 was. Hopefully they fix the matchmaking soon.

Man this is taking FOREVER to install.... My first Xbox One game are they all this slow?

I left it early and system went into sleep mode at some point. Came back awhile ago and MP is not available so I've played a few SP missions starting at being in Halo 1 and yea still at 87.5 on 2 and 37.5 on whatever the last on is after 4. Oh well guess better fix dinner and let it install.

Wait what? Is this after the initial install of all the games? I won't ever get to play tonight...

It is especially slow, but keep in mind it's almost 60GB.

Once upon a time Day One was all the game there was. Now Day One seems to mean Enjoy the Paid Beta.

Halo has never had a problem this bad before, though. I'm really surprised.

My console downloaded the full 60GB all in one go, I only have the final slot on the right to finish now and then everything is installed. You'll be downloading and installing everything if you clicked on update when you booted up the game.

Installs from disc are rather good for time, if you are downloading anything from live right now it's super slow, the last 30% or so of the install for me was downloading the 15GB update and slowed the install right down.

Yep achievements aren't working for me either. Guess I'll just wait to play til this shit is fixed. This is seriously the worst game launch I've ever witnessed.

Fucking MM doesn't work for me at all. This is VERY disappointing - I just want to play Halo! This has potential to kill the community really quick. I bet Bungie are laughing.

Thanks for the quick replies all. Just grabbed a bundle over the weekend and this is my cherry being popped. Digital preload is nice but it's not worth it compared to $48 and a $10 gift card from Best Buy, plus another few bucks paying with RZ CC.

No plans for online tonight I suppose. Only about 9% total progress installing since last post and that update. I'm hardwired so we shall see how that goes. :/

Edit: 93.5 and last is 43.5% we shall see if it's the update or not... Honestly... I just put the disc in and grabbed a drink, I came back and it said installing in the dashboard box so I changed channel and let it load. Maybe I shoulda did something else i a noob. :)

First match went fine. Found it in less than a minute.

Now trying to find a second match and nothing is coming up. It has been around twenty minutes. Strange.

"We are aware of the issues players have been experiencing with matchmaking and we’re working around the clock, alongside the Xbox Live team, to improve the situation. We have deployed an update that has shown some improvement, and we continue to optimize the experience. The update deployed to matchmaking was done on the server side and does not require an extra download to your Xbox One. This is our top priority and will keep everyone updated regularly as we deploy continued improvements."

Why do I feel the X1 is still always online at this point...

Activate a terminal, no achievement pop, halo channel tries to load and eventually just puts me back to halo. Try and do another achievement, again no pop.

OK I'm over exaggerating, achievements != being able to play, it just sucks, It's put me off playing now if I don't get the achievements. I thought achievements could be earned offline on X1...

I thought just matchmaking was broke that sucks that even when I find a game it breaks again.

So I can't play halo 1 BC its frame rate is like fucking 10 on a hog.

I can't play online BC it barely fucking works.

MS really fucked this launch up and they needed all the good will they could get.

I guess I'll just play another game.

Achievements still kinda work? I think?

I got a skull and a terminal from Halo CE, no achievements, then while killing two grunts, I get the "kill 100 elites" achievements. Alright then!
