Wait a sec!

So we have Francis Dolarhyde, Mason Verger, and Hannibals storyline fallout in this season? This has a chance to be the greatest season of television ever.

S3 set photo spoilers:
it looks like Jack is alive and (relatively) well. Haven't seen any photos of Alana, but IMDB lists her as being in the series in 2015. Then again, it COULD just be a shot of her body or something, haha.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Poor Alana. I don't care about the source material, she is Will's one true waifu.

I'm not sure what I'm more excited for, the cinematography from all of their location shooting or Brian Reitzell's score for everything set in Italy.

Trailer was impeccable.

Give wardrobe their Emmy right now. So freaking stylish, these characters.

Hell, give on-set food catering an Emmy too. Everyone associated with this show deserves one.

They can't spoil it all in the trailer!

Jack has to be alive. Has to be. Alana... I bet she'll make an appearance. If she's dead I'll be shocked. I don't expect her to have fully recovered though.

Excuse for Hannibal-themed Tumblr blogs recommendations? Oh yes sir, always:

http://bonearenaofmyskull.tumblr.com - I agree with like 95% of what she says in her meta. Worth a read.
http://silkysimpona.tumblr.com/tagged/hannibal-recatch - if you're planning a rewach, do so with help of these recaps. They're amazing.
And don't forget the best of all: Elucipher's Hannibal Meta (series spoilers, obviously)

Those posts gave me a new appreciation for the incredible depth of the show, especially its visual symbolism.

I know there was never a good reason to doubt Season 3 would be amazing, but wow. The next season looks like it's going to easily surpass Season 2 at what it did best: expand Hannibal's world and engage more deeply with the characters and relationships that were cultivated in Season 1.

I can't wait. This will be a great thing. The best thing.

Yup, this one is great.
High five!

Looooove that Fuller keeps switching genders and ethnicities. I know Reba was always a woman, but I think she was white in the book, right?

Regardless, added to OP!

EDIT: So, who else could be cast for this season? Book/movie spoilers and speculation:
I still have to wonder if they'll revisit anything else of Hannibal: Rising. Maybe Hannibal pays some visits to the guys who ate his sister?

For Red Dragon, we potentially have:

Ralph Mandy, the jerky co-worker who wants to bang Reba
Barney! He could be introduced this season. He first appeared in Red Dragon
Will and Molly's son? Too early?

Yeah, she was white in the book.

As for other characters,
Ralph (I wouldn't call him jerky) would be nice. Is Barney even named? Looked through my copy and couldn't find him. But they should definitely have Willy. And if so, maybe they'll actually have him be only Molly's son for once.

The shitty part is that we'll still lose Chilton eventually in the future...but I am sure down for disfigured Dr. Loomis in Halloween 4-like Chilton though

You know, I wonder if (book/movies)
Barney was retconned into Red Dragon, the movie?

You never know. The series is already substantially different from the books, maybe he'll survive the entire run.

Much like the pimpest cockroach in the world.

So, breaking down the season into the two halves... I'm assuming we're pretty much done with villain of the week scenarios, at least for Season 3.

Season 3 Part 1 is basically an adaptation of Hannibal and Hannibal Rising with
the pursuit of Hannibal by Mason Verger, him fleeing to Europe with a female companion (here it is Bedelia instead of Clarice), Inspector Pazi and Lady Murasaki, and probably an examination of his origins, so to speak.

Season 3 Part 2 will basically be a mostly straight adaptation of Red Dragon with
the events being picked up several years later, Will married to Molly (maybe in Flordia?), Dolarhyde (though this means that he's been active for a number of years since the couple murdered in the pilot was killed by him), Hannibal in prison and Will being forced to consult with the feds again.

I suppose the second half of the season has potential of villains of the week if Hannibal has some sort of cult of fans out there or something, haha.

The biggest question mark for me is
Lady Murasaki. Tao Okamoto is playing her maid, who supposedly has most of her character plotlines from Hannibal Rising. But which ones? Was she the one Hannibal saved from rapist nazis or what? Was she the one he decapitated the butcher for? If anything she'll be a fascinating addition to the show

Didn't Fuller try to
get Barney's actor until the deal felt through or something though? I remember reading about that.

I guess this also means that (character deaths spoiler)
Lounds will bite it in the
second half of Season 3.

I find it hard to believe they'll really use much from Hannibal Rising beyond a few inspirations here and there.

I mean, we definitely (probably) are not getting
cannibalistic Nazis. Though the decapitation thing, I'm thinking we'll get something related to that.

I'll be sad if they don't use the Hannibal Rising backstory. I like my villains with
some emotional backdrop. Hannibal as horrific as he is now, should be a tragic figure whose evil is born out of love. Much more powerful that way.

Assuming they got the rights and the show wasn't cancelled by then, do you think they'd be brave enough to completely change the protagonist of the show to Starling? Or would they try to give Will equal screen time somehow

Pretty sure that Bryan Fuller said that
Will will get his face cut off by Dolarhyde in this season, like in the books...So...I don't expect a cut up face Will protag, no. Bring on Clarissa Sterling
