Not saying I'm shocked or anything because he's been getting further out from the public eye since the 90's, but still, what terrible news. I always thought of him as a pretty great actor in Ghostbusters and a pretty great Director for Groundhog Day, so it's sad to see him go. It was refreshing seeing him pop up in Knocked Up for a brief moment, years ago.

Part of me just has to accept that, with cinema being so relatively young as a medium, most of the actors everyone grew up with and enjoyed will start passing away sooner rather than later.

So upsetting.

I'm reduced to feeling like a 4 year old about this. He was one of my childhood heroes but evolved into a significant role model when I began getting into film making. He made it easier to be brave when I was a kid.

Harold Ramis will absolutely be missed.

Groundhog Day is in my all-time Top 2... awful news. Hope his family stays strong.

The geek in me does wonder what this means for Ghostbusters 3.

Ghostbusters is one of my all time favorite movies. I saw it in the theaters in 83. It is one those movies where I've seen it so many times, I can literally quote the whole thing from beginning to end. I've also enjoyed the sequel, the various animated offerings, and the various video games (I'm happy to consider the 360/Ps3 game as Ghostbusters III). I've also enjoyed a number of Mr Ramis other movies as well.

RIP, and thank you.

Tonight I watch Ghostbusters again in his honor.

I feel like I've just been kicked in my gut, really dull pain.

Though he wasn't in it it was still modelled after the movie I have to say The Real Ghostbusters is probably my favourite cartoon of my childhood, I remember rushing home every day after school so I didn't miss it.

RIP Harold.

I can't go a week without thinking of something related to Caddyshack or Ghostbusters.

Really sucks, man. I watched those two movies a lot in my house, even when I wasn't "ready" for Caddyshack's boobage. Really sucks.

ugh. He had a brilliant mind.

Go watch Multiplicity and The Ice Harvest if you haven't seen them yet, a couple under-appreciated gems of his.

This one hurts.

Cried for a bit, thankfully all alone at work at the moment. Didn't think something Like me this would hit me so hard. The crappy thing about childhood heroes is you outlive them.

Calm Killer

In all media, only true fans who consume every book, film, game, or pog collection deserve to know what's going on.
Terrible news as a fan. May he rest in peace and God be with his family and friends in this difficult time. :(

I'm in the exact same boat. Trying not to get to visibly upset at the office.

I'm 27. The first dream I remember having was of the Ghostbusters visiting my childhood home and saying hi.

I only know him from ghostbusters, one of my favorite films of the 80's. I shall watch that in his remembrance.

Rest

Also, I thought Ramis was great as Seth Rogen's dad in Knocked Up. Just a very down to Earth role.

Also, no love for Stripes?!

I saw Groundhog Day for the first time just a few months ago. Unreal. I'll always remember him as Spengler. RIP.

Two departed comedic stars.

Harold Ramis . . . great on-screen and even better off-screen writing.

Animal House, Groundhog Day . . . two genius movies right there written by Harold Ramis.
