Have you guys seen the story of Gabby Petito? A vlogger who was missing and then found dead?

There's the whole story basically.

Poor girl, she clearly wasn't in good mental health. Her boyfriend came back alone and is now being searched. Fucker.

If you haven't seen this you live under a rock. Of course people are upset that black people dont get the same attention, but this story is fucking crazy. The fact he went home and didnt tell anyone and there was nothing anyone could do is crazy.

Someone caught someone that looks like him on one of their hunting cams 500 miles north of his parents in florida

Can someone explain a non american why this news is getting so much attention? What makes it so different from the hundreds of similar cases that happen each year?
Because usually when people go missing they just like go out and never come back. She was with her fiance, and he came back driving her car and without her. Like what?! They were going to a bunch of parks and all over the country, and hes just like ok im back, and he wouldnt speak to anyone about it and until they found the body there wasnt much they could do. Also he was staying at his parents house and left on like Tuesday and they didnt tell anyone until Friday that he was gone. so they have been covering for him too

The usual suspects are crying racism, but I think it's simply the fact that it was a bizarre disappearance considering the entire trip was documented online. And Reddit & Twitter detectives thought they could assist so it kept Trending.

But yeah, the cops in Florida REALLY fucked up this one. I don't understand how they didn't have the POS under surveillance.

People are lost every day, from elderly to infants. Some are kidnapped, some are murdered. The fact that this random person seems to have gotten the national spotlight is indicative of how fucked our media is.
The media knows about the missing white women syndrome but they still go on covering the news like the world depends on it.

Agreed. He was a person of interest from the start. How did they not have him under surveillance... ffs.

Never heard about this. Hope whoever killed this person gets executed. It’s heinous to kill someone, equally so to discard their bodies like trash.

People should also not tolerate abuse from anyone. Nobody who beats you loves you or ever will, so do everyone a favour and place that person behind bars.

My English is also not good but;
“Found the remains”

thats means the girls body or parts or the body? Like she was cut in pieces?

Sure, but first...

These guys do a great job explaining missing white woman syndrome in case anyone wants a more detailed history.

The fact sahe is a vlogger is a key. She is not a nobody that disappear. A cute white girl who is vlogger who disappear is goign to draw attention.
This x10.
Yeah all the hippy dippy life is beautiful stuff and the fake social media facade of a perfect relationship gave this that extra hook.
Yep.

The main reasons why she is getting a lot of attention is because she had significant social media following and 10k+ simple lifers noticed she disappeared.

From there it's really simple why so many have been hooked by the story. It's like a crime novel. She was a pretty girl. Many women have commented how she still looked like a teenager. The story has gripped parents as well as a lot of young people who day dream of taking this kind of trip.

Some race baiters waited for a body to be found to let out their sour grape farts. Well I think it's disgusting. When that black lady was shot to death in her apartment by police who were under gunfire from someone in her apartment, we carried that story for weeks and it wasn't even a mystery. She had drug dealer in her apartment shooting at cops, but we carried that story for weeks.

I don’t much understand it either and inquired the same on YT.

I suspect it‘s probably due to a combination of the fact she had a social media presence, there’s video prior, and the boyfriend‘s behavior. Also the fact they‘re a fairly attractive, picturesque couple that gives off the appearance of a happy relationship I think lends to a degree of some broader intrigue. Same with the Watts‘/Peterson murders as well.

Two spoiled young adults with their heads full of dumb ideas go on a vlogging trip for social media clout and get into a fight. Things escalate, an accident happens and the girl dies. Dude freaks out and runs away.
Why the f*ck should we care?

Also the "white girl missing syndrome" is the dumbest most racist crap I've had the displeasure to read about this week. U.S. media hypes up every f*cking tragedy because Americans lap that sh*t up, doesn't matter what skin color.

Christ, that poor kid. I hope she is able to rest in peace and that her family will be able to find some solace. And I sincerely hope the fucker that did this is locked away until he rots in a cell.

When the story started it was about a search, so the news was pushed to ask help for the search. it started out in local media around that region then spread nationwide because of interest in social media.

there are tons of crazy stuff reported in local media that don't get nationwide attention. this was just a story that did because it was pushed to get help from the public. especially since law enforcement already had an encounter with the 2 and considered this a serious situation. it was help from the public that made the discovery of the remains possible.

Yeah yeah about the white girl syndrome shit, totally misses how utterly bizarre the whole situation is and how weird that they seemingly left a trail of eyewitness accounts of their fighting from Moab to Jackson. Also makes me laugh hearing national correspondents try to pronounce Moab.

RIP little girl. Be sure to smash that like button hit subscribe and ring that bell

I only saw the bodycam footage.. was the found body officially identified yet? The boyfriend is still missing right? Sorry not up to date. It was weird hearing about this while a was reading stories about those 411 missing people cases...

Havent kept up with the story, but at the time all I know was she was missing and the boyfriend kept silent. The women's parents were trying to contact him and his parents and they wouldnt respond. So pretty obvious it's sketchy as hell.

Then a day or two later articles said they found her body.

I'm not sure why either, but every country is like this. Every day someone dies or get kidnapped, but for some reason one incident gets national exposure. Its not always even a sensationalist plot all the time. But one posterchild victim becomes the face of a crime all year where it gets reported publicly and then every other media site and tv station gets on the train.

For sake of clicks and drawing readers and revenue, the got to pick one victim I guess.

Yeah basically you need a perfect storm of factors. Female, young, pretty, white, blond, good family, white picket fence neighborhood, lots of available pictures/video to accompany the story, rich, novel hook, intrigue, mystery, suspects, solid chance they were murdered.....
You might not have 100% of those but you will nearly always be pretty close.

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
I really don't understand why so many people in the media and on social media are trying to paint this story with a racial aspect.

This could have been an Asian couple, Indian couple, Hispanic couple, etc etc and it would have gotten the same amount of national attention if the circumstances were the same. The girl having relatable social media dreams, the boyfriends obviously suspicious and erratic behavior, and then all of a sudden he disappears just before they find her body and now nobody can find him?

That kind of story draws attention regardless of skin color or background. And I'm not saying that you could not make the case that some stories are given preferential treatment on a racial basis, but trying to throw a racial factor on this particular story feels like trying to inject divisiveness into a story that everyone should be able to agree on.

She is hot. And a youtuber.

Also, the circumstances are pretty weird. They get caught slapping each other in public. Cops determine that she was the abuser after seeing scratch marks on his face and let them both go even though the 911 call reported him slapping her about. It's all on video.

If they had arrested her like they would if she had scratches on her face then this wouldnt have happened. But double standards and all. They let her go and they got back together. 10 days later he killed her and came back home. Cops once again shockingly didnt put any detectives on him. They didnt have PC to detain him, but to let him roam around with following him is pretty nuts. He was last seen with her and refused to talk to the police. If thats not PC for at least following him around then I dont know what is.

Moral of the story: Dont let your daughter go out with douchebags.

I new there were videos but never bothered watching them.

But they were smacking each other? Love it. Maybe I'll watch it.
