Hmmm yes quite common to say I love you so much, that if you need to bury a body I’ll help you. Also to write burn after reading on notes to your son. Clearly written prior to the trip and she had no idea what he did.

I think Mom has a poetic streak that looks really, really bad in this context. But I don't think she was being literal. She also says:

"If you fly to the moon, I will be watching the skies for your re-entry. If you say you hate my guts, I’ll get new guts."

If he had flown to the moon and Mom got new guts after Gabby went missing, I'd be more inclined to buy into sinister intent. Even the "burn after reading" could be a tongue-in-cheek joke.

She could also have totally been in on it.

They're great at cherry-picking to get the intended response (clicks, views, engagement).

They know what blanks we'll fill in and with what, when presented with salient details like those from that letter.

She said to read the entire letter and that it's full of expressions one might use to show how much they care. Just one of them happens to be "I love you so much I would bring garbage bags if you needed to dispose of a body" right before a murder is made public.

Made me think of someone going to the store specifically to buy an embarrassing personal product and tossing it together with a bunch of other stuff they didn't really need like candy.

I'm glad he didn't burn it, it's evidence and everyone including his mother should be held accountable for their actions. But it reflected even worse on him TBH that he got his mom into this mess and she was willing to risk her neck just to support her son. And he even threw her under the bus by failing to burn the letter before dying. So he checked out and left his mom with the WHOLE bill, all because of her final message that I'm with you till the end. What a guy.
