playing tempo mage against a face druid
turn 1 coin esportal gives me ancient of war
turn 3 I play duplicate and he thinks it's mirror and plays a keeper thinking he'll give it something weak
turn 4 ancient of war,

ESPORTS all the way to the bank.

I'm starting to dislike playing against the same class I happen to be playing for some reason.

Especially if we're running similar decks and they get a better draw than me.

I kinda want to insta-concede.

It's a similar feeling in fighting games, some people hate mirrors. They are good for learning though

Is this how it always is, or do I just have bad luck? I am trying casual play and every draw I get is some crazy deck with flashy cards and backs. I only have basic cards and some Naxx ones.

If you're at rank 20 - 25 on ladder, you're better off playing ranked because then you can at least get matched against people who aren't good and/or have bad decks. In casual you can face ANYONE and I don't think there's actually any hidden MMR there.

Casual mode isn't casual.

It's the mode that people go to test out their net decks or to farm daily quests without worrying about ranked positioning.

Truth be told Casual mode is basically bull shit.

This.

I mostly grind my quests on the ladder anymore. Seems to work better. Granted, I rarely grind my rank up very high.

Yeah, casual can have anything from gold portrait all gold deck control warriors to murloc warlocks.

Actually the best thing I ever saw was a warlock in casual who had all 30 cards as 1 drops for the meek shall inherent quest. When I get that I follow that man's footsteps because the games are hilarious.

People generally play Casual mode to grind daily quests because even though you will generally face against the same old shit that you see on ranked... occasionally you will face off against some wacky experimental deck that you can just run over with your Face Hunter deck for ez win, ez game, ez gold, ez life.

You're pretty fucking hardcore for being brave enough to enter casual mode.

Respect.

When I play in casual to test some really theoretical decks, the information I gain is completely useless because casual really is much different than ladder. Sometimes you do play top decks, but most of the time you just play other wonky decks that never see play in high ranks.

man I feel like every tempo/casino mage has wyrm on turn 1 and flame cannon/arcane missiles on two

no frostbolt? I mean no offense but even going ifrst you have a minimum of 4 draws to get 1 of 6 cards which you almost universally want in your opening hand, that's a better than 60% chance. If they go 2nd by turn 2 it's a 70% chance.

always having wyrm though.... well that's magic :p

If its such a good chance, how come I never get fiery win axe in my hands by turn 2?!

because that's 2 cards? I'm talking about picking from a set of 6 cards. 2x frostbolt, 2x arcane missiles, 2x flame cannon it's very likely that an opponent will have at least one of them on turn 2

In other news I think i might have just played against a bot. All game they played with this weird slow rhythmic play. the interval of time between each action was completely uniform and quite slow. Then when I pulled it back from the paladin and had enraged grom on board with him at 10 hp, he just continued the same interval, he traded one 1/1 token into grom to make room on his board to hero power, went face with everything else and passed the turn.

Just when I decide to play echo giant mage I face warrior with iron juggernaut and dragon priest with thoughtsteals, lightbombs and mind control, Jesus christ. Also, the amount of people who BM is disgusting, thanks god there is no chat, I hope Blizzard will add auto squelch option.

I don't think there is anything more infuriating in this game than force of nature + double savage roar

Getting your Dreadsteed stolen by Cabal Shadow Priest.

When you play Dreadsteed Warlock, you get really attached to them. ='(

Okay! Well .... I guess I just go ranked then, At this point I could care less about my rank, I just want to play and have fun. Especially being new it can be intimidating to have someone drop some 5/10 taunting monster in round 3 with my 1/1 boar whimpering.

How does the ranked side of the world work? I am assuming still under the play option?

What rank do you guys generally switch to more of a slower control deck, if at all? I've been running tempo Mage this month and I hit rank 11 last night. I figure once I get a little higher I'm goin to switch to fatigue warrior.

YMMV but running Mage (NA Server) I tend to see a fuck ton of Face Hunter in the 20-10 range so I run healbot. Usually the closer I get to 10 the more I start seeing Xmas Pally and a shit ton of Dragon Priest and Grim Warrior. So I swap out.

Around 12-10 on the NA sever is usually where I see the meta start to switch up.

This Brawl is pretty interesting with the perfect curve. I won with a controllish warrior against a tempo mage that managed to have a 6 attack Mana Wyrm. Pyroblast obtained in the pack, so it was an overall good experience.

Secret Paladin seems like it would be extremely strong with a perfect curve. Zombie Chow, Minibot, Muster, Shredder, Belcher, Mysterious Challenger, Dr Boom, Tirion.

Also, going first would be way better in this brawl since the coin can't fix a broken curve anymore.

Also you might as well throw wisps and target dummies in for your opening hand since you can't draw them.

Just destroyed a secret paly in brawl with my control dragon paladin. The brawl is perfect for control decks in general but dragons in particular as you're guaranteed to have a dragon by turn x, you will certainly open with zombie chow, curve into minibot into peace keeper/bloodknight/muster. into guardian into QM and so on. Higher quality minions win.

What happens after turn 10 when you have 10 mana? Do you only draw 10 mana cards if you only have those, or if you have other cards then it starts drawing those? edit: it looks like it's basically every turn it checks to see if you have a card with that mana cost, and then draws it. If not, random draw like normal.

edit: lol face hunter wins this brawl, maybe mech mage too

You could put Eye for an Eye in a Secret Paladin deck in this Brawl. Because you know you aren't going to draw it.

So sick of druid combo.

You have to play control against druid otherwise if you leave anything on the board you're probably done for if you can't catch up next turn.

What's more annoying is a warrior who equips deathspite, next turn drops emp thar, next turn patron and warsong commander, you clear his board on your turn, next turn he drops warsong commander and double frothing and wins. This seems to happen to me all the time and it's grating to not be able to counter it any way.

Welp, got my pack in 2 turns with Cogmaster > Mechwarper opening against a Priest who probably misunderstood Brawl rules and conceded.

So, it would be good to have multiple 10-costs if possible?

A perfect curve with Secret Palladin is so disgusting lol. Got a Cabal Shadow Priest from my pack, nice! Had one in my free pack from last week's Braw tool. Might be time to play some Priest now. :D
