Twilight Guardian is a pretty important TGT card. Dragon Priest would be a lot worse without it. Chillmaw is great for that deck too.I have like... 20 TGT cards lol. It was the first big expansion I was around for and I was not ready since I was busy catching up with Adventures. Never needed them, honestly, and I can't think of any TGT card I'd be super interested in getting. Maybe Standard will make some appealing?
Edit: I checked. I think my best TGT cards are Bear Trap, Effigy, Mukla's Champion, Argent Horserider and Arcane Blast, and I had to craft that last one all of them are one-offs. Eh, they're alright cards. There's much worse in that set. I also have 2 Flame Jugglers and that's it as far as playable TGT cards go.
Damn, people don't like this brawl? Its fun as all get out. Obviously you can wreck or be wrecked quite instantly, but it's not meant to be a serious competitive endeavor. There is a sweet satisfaction in playing a 0 mana clockwork giant on turn one and watching the opponent insta-concede

?dammit I swear the meta is going to be freeze mage and control warrior only
Hello all,
I'm fairly new to the game and now I'm interested in trying out ranked a bit to see if I can climb the ladder.
Which deck would people suggest to a new player that forces me to learn and think a lot about what I'm doing?
So far I've been recommended midrange shaman, midrange/combo druid, control warrior and aggroshaman/hunter. Some people also said zoo. I'm really confused right now!
Honestly, I think TGT had a lot of good-to-great cards and is a bit underrated in terms of quality by most of the community. It's certainly not the best expansion ever, but it wasn't terrible like many make it out to be.

Zoolock is a fairly cheap deck that takes some intelligence to play. It's one of the few deck archetypes that can focus its gameplan on both board control and dealing face damage when needed.Hello all,

Hey! Welcome to the game first of all, I recommend you switch to Ranked right away, even if you don't think you have the cards for it. Casual tends to be harder than the lower ranks of Ranked; since casual is based on MMR you tend to get matched up against veterans farming for gold more often than at ranks ~20-15. Plus it will help you get over the anxiety of playing a ranked game, if you have any. I know I did
Regarding which deck to play in order to better learn the game, I would strongly advise against aggro stuff, specially if you want to play decks that will make you think or learn the more intricate parts of the game. Personally, I'd go with either Zoo, Control Warrior or maybe Midrange Hunter. Specially Zoo since it makes you learn positioning, order of play, and it's super flexible and fun in general. Plus it's very cheap, and despite losing some card in standard, I'm sure the archetype will stick around.
In the end, go for the one you like the most. If you are confused about the terminology, I strongly recommend you watch Trump's Deck Teachings. Not only will you learn what the words mean and decide what direction you want to follow, it will help you recognize other archetypes when playing against them which helps you make better decisions on how to tackle an opponent. Being able to recognize what card your opponent might play next has a huge impact on your win rate.
And while you're at it, watch Trump's Basic Teachings if you haven't yet. It's a must watch for new players. You might want to watch it before the decks series.
Thanks! That's a nice reference list. I agree with most.
And I have some of those, it's just that my collection for some classes is so bad I don't think I've had the chance to appreciate some of the cards too much. I have a Darnassus, a King's Elekk, a Totem Golem and a Silver Hand Regent, but if I wanted to play them in a deck seriously, I'd probably have to craft like 33% of the deck, haha.
And I have a spellslinger, but I'm going to disagree with you about its usefulness. I swear my win rate with Tempo Mage skyrocketed after I removed that traitor from my list. Casino mage is a joke. And I feel like Hunter's early game is too crowded for King's Elekk to be an auto-include.
And I do know TGT has some good legendaries, but I don't exactly have a dust surplus and I'm not about to start buying packs in the hopes of getting any of those, I can live without them. Justicar and Gormok would be really nice though, specially the latter one for my recently-built zoo.
I'll answer this with the proviso that everything is going to change pretty soon, so you might just want to make do with the cards you've got rather than craft/buy anything just yet.
No to midrange shaman, that is not in a good place.
Midrange druid is a strong deck, but to be at its best it needs, at the minimum, 4 epics (2x Ancient of Lore, 2x Force of Nature) plus 2 rares (2x Keeper of the Grove). The rest of the deck you can find substitutes for, but without those pieces it loses a lot of its power.
Control Warrior is super expensive and not really accessible to new players or even a lot of established ones.
Aggro Shaman is fairly accessible if you buy League of Explorers. But, losing Crackle in the shift to Standard hurts because the deck gives up a lot of its reach.
That leaves Face Hunter and Zoo Warlock. They are both strong decks, and if you're missing the key Zoo cards like Doomguard and Imp-losion, I'd say it's a tough call between them. They are both fairly easy to pilot, but Zoo has more to offer in terms of learning to make good trades and think ahead a turn or two.

And of course there's always Mage, it's a great class for learning. It's the class the game starts you with for a reason.
Woah, you have the cards for all three? Awesome. Try all 3 of them out! I'm personally not a big fan of doomguards so I'd go with the second one you linked, but I'm sure they're essential for some people's zoo playstyle, so I'm sure mileage will vary. Just experiment, you have nothing to lose, and don't be afraid to experiment with the lists as well, you can add or remove a couple of cards if you think some other cards would work better against the opponent you're playing against at a given time.Brilliant answers, thanks all for taking your time!
I've watched all of the Trump videos and have been researching articles and similar videos for about 20-30 hours so far, the theory is really fun but the practice.. well.. its nervewrecking for sure
Concluding from all of your answers I'd say Zoo is a good place to start learning then.
I have found three variants that I like - I have all the cards necessary for all - which one is the strongest at the moment?

Why headcrack isn't 2 drop?
Would made it kinda playable card to mess around
Rank ... is a total clusterfuck
Trying to do 40 spell quest, I play tempo mage. Opponents concede by turn 5 and I get 2 spells off per game
Spell Master is the worst quest in the game. Always reroll that shit.
when is standard coming? like tomorrow?
I hope it doesn't leak. We're so close to tomorrow I want to see the new cards as part of a cool flashy announcement and not as some blurry mess.
Also, I'm loving this brawl. Turns out the Kel'Thuzad + Cairne Bloodhoof combo is preeeeeetty good!
Prooobably not. End of the month if the guesses on the tournament wording were accurate.
