I'm gonna use my Supernote for this game. I'll have a cloud backup of my notes. Ha! So dorky.
Totally off topic, but I find writing on any sort of tablet so incredibly awkward and it makes my handwriting, which isn't great on paper, look even worse.

As for Hell is Us, I think I'm going to dive into it now.

FightinCowboy is doing a "Let's Play" series on it too. First 2 episodes are up if anyone wants to get a feel for the game.

Bought the deluxe edition, 5 hours in, this game is so good man. The absence of hand holding, weapon customization, backtracking, etc gives this game kind of a old school feeling, think of it like a Returnal dungeon adventure game.

The game is amazing.

In the review topic i wrote this:

I just played 2,5h as well and the combat is like... super easy? I switched to the axes as soon as I found them, though. With the healing mechanic, i tend to be at full health after almost every enemy encounter. And when it's tethered, just use the distract thingie with the drone. I'm literally attacking 7 enemies at once and not breaking a sweat until now and I just arrived in the third area. Playing on balanced.

Agreed with everything else you posted though. It's now midnight and i have a work day tomorrow, but I have a very hard time turning this of. Might become my goty if the quality remains like this for the entire game.

The "quest lines" are also pretty well connected and you truly have to pay attention to the environment.

One almost spoilerfree example of a very small side quest:

When you met the farmer you mentioned, you may notice he has a cow on his domain somewhere. In a totally different area, you need some milk. I figured: could it be that I can go ask that farmer to give me some milk since I saw he had a cow? And sure, he does.

I came to this conclusion in an organic way, without any guides. That's good game design. I know it sounds simple, but so many games fail at this.

I was thinking it would annoy me that i would have to write down codes and so for locked doors, but until now it worked fine. With a combination of the in game notes you collect and paying attention the environment I managed just fine until now.

This is right up my alley! Happy I bought it.

Thank you for these impressions!

Can't wait to jump in though I wonder if the physical edition has been delayed, usually I get release day delivery but in this case I'm still waiting for a shipping estimate from Amazon Japan, let's see what happens.

Can't take the MC seriously, as I only see Marty.

Yeah, the hairstyle choice is bizzare to say the least.

**********

Based on reviews I've seen, the enemy variety is pretty weak, so after 5 or so hrs you'll see every enemy in the game and will be fighting them for the next 25 more or so. Other than though, the game is great in terms of world bulding, exploration etc. and there's stuff you can miss cuz it's not holding your hand all the way through and not telling you everything you need to do like modern AAA games do, so that's a huge plus in my book(y)

cormack12 cormack12 thx for making OT! I wish they'd release more material to work with for me to make it myself, but alas:messenger_pensive:

Would have bought it if the requirements were not that heavy. 1080P 60fps needs a RTX2080 Ti 11GB VRAM? haha, optimization can go fuck itself and I'm not picking on the team as I get that they are small and don't have time to polish.

I'll check it out someday when I have better hardware as I do want to support new developers trying something new and unique.

Also lol, just realized this comes out on the same day as Silksong, yeah good luck to the team.

I enjoyed the demo but this one is a discount grab for me.

I'm bummed to hear about combat but it could be fine depending on how long the overall game is.

I'm struggling to understand how a game with such sick art design has such a lame main character. The curly hair is just so bizarre and out of place.

Fortunately you wear a cap and hood for the most part.
Maybe they wanted to give a character more rugged look. Like he was out in the wilderness for a long time, dunno.

But since I think I remember right he was out in military, and decided to desert and cross mountains to his own country so he should have some sort of military crew cut at least, hmm.

Anyways I won't unsee it now, lmao.

LuCan you expand on this?
Sure, weapons has base weapons, a sword, for example, you might be getting a level 1 sword, which you then will imbue into 4 sword types depending on your sigils preference, there are as sigils as weapon types. You set sigils into the weapon which gives it abilities such as firing a projectile, summoning spikes coming out from.the ground, heal yourself, etc etc.

Is the notorious shadow blobbing/shimmering effect in the foliage fixed with the PSSR (PS5 PRO)? I know I'm hopeless
I'm more interested what PSSR actually brings to the PS5 Pro with Hell Is Us. Is using PSSR in performance mode == Quality Mode on standard PS5 with 60FPS or what.

Seriously, devs seems to have no fucking idea how to use the PS5 Pro. The only game so far that uses the PS5 Pro as it's intended to be used is only Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Judging the demo delivers a solid 60 fps mode but the notorious issue in the vegetation it's quite visible in the trees foliage and annoying. You can choice TSR but I'd prefer a proper PSSR usage as AC Shadows or Dying light 2 than TSR.

Designed for modern audiences

It's not even the fact my man has curly hair, just the model looks like a fucking rat's nest it's hilarious.

The game so far is incredible. The exploration is so good. I like the ambience, its weird but attractive at the same time

The performance is great, no issues whatsoever and the graphics are very detailed.

I am very happy so far

Between comments like that, and the other review that called a game "gooner approved".
It's like reviewers are finally singling out the games I should play. Their jobs now have meaning.
it continues to amaze me why anyone gives a shit what reviewers think of games because the vast majority of them are just slightly different flavours of 'retard with poor taste'. The political left flavour is particularly terrible, their opinions on anything is invalid to me by default and the sooner we as a group adopt that mindset the better.

The game has a demo, which I played, and I thought it was below average and personally not to my tastes. I am happy people who dig it are loving it. That is my review xD

Yea. I know what games I'll like and don't care about reviews. But whatever offends these people add games to my list.
Not sure that is their intentions, but it probably drives more sales than turns people away.

most of the time I would agree but I strongly urge you play the demo, it was enough for me to realise it's a hell is no
