Hell is Us |OT| The world speaks. Listen closely.

it continues to amaze me why anyone gives a shit what reviewers think of games because the vast majority of them are just slightly different flavours of 'retard with poor taste'. The political left flavour is particularly terrible, their opinions on anything is invalid to me by default and the sooner we as a group adopt that mindset the better.

The game has a demo, which I played, and I thought it was below average and personally not to my tastes. I am happy people who dig it are loving it. That is my review xD

Yea. I know what games I'll like and don't care about reviews. But whatever offends these people add games to my list.
Not sure that is their intentions, but it probably drives more sales than turns people away.

I agree. I don't look at numbered scores and all that. I think the last time I seriously looked at them was during my younger years knowing about reviews in gaming mags. At most I will watch a youtube video or two to get a sense of a game I have been eyeing and seeing if the gameplay piques my interest.

I played the demo and found it interesting enough to eventually get it, but I don't think it's day 1 at the moment. Still thinking about it though.

Seems like the way the world is explored is somewhat similar to Atomfall just more hardcore. Atomfall had a map and Hell is Us doesn't, but Atomfall kinda just put you in the world and was like "Ok, figure it out" and Hell is Us seems to do it similar except to a much greater extreme. But both seem to have large zones as well rather than just an open world. Obviously the gameplay couldn't be more different.

Won't be getting mine til the physical ships which is weeks from now.

Will support this one just to say thank you for the dude that gave his heart and soul for deus ex HR and MD (plus, it looks pretty good!)

Apparently not

When has it become acceptable to call white people names or use things like saying: "boring white guy". Bet if I write "Boring black guy, I'd get banned there or have a media shit storm. Generally I don't give a fuck what people call me, because there is nothing really they can say expect something I would laugh at.

Bought it blind never watched a video or know anything about it.

Fantastic game, atmosphere for days. Will look forward to uncovering all it's secrets.

Easy 9/10 - looses a point for the boring white guy protagonist.

Man this game is grim. Haven't played such a depressing game in many years.

When you reach the village of Jova and start talking to people, sheesh.

Strong contenter for GOTY. There's just so much mystery, so many puzzles. Amazing atmosphere, haven't experienced anything like it since maybe Control came out. Switched the combat to easy because I wasn't vibing with it at all and it was ruining the rest of the game.

Awesome game.

So do these "good deeds" mini quests not actually give you anything?

I did like three and I'm pretty sure all three times the person was like "hey thanks buddy, this is just what I needed. Bye now" while I'm standing there like an asshole.

Have no idea who Tyler Perry is. I don't watch TV, Netflix or any form of streaming
He's a director/writer who creates films with mostly black casts. He is known for creating mostly bland and mediocre movies with bland archetypical roles and/or stereotypical roles and placing random black actors into them, yet somehow his movies have tons of ticket sales, streams, and largely profit pretty well. He was so successful actually, that he has his very own full-blown hollywood-style production studio in Atlanta, which Marvel and others have used to shoot big movies like Spiderman No Way Home.

Meanwhile, for most of his own movies, if you ever see one and then watch another one, you'll realize that the script from the first one feels like it was just slightly rewritten and remixed, but very, very similar events are unfolding between both. I don't discount his impact on film, but I do find it funny that he rose to fame with such mediocrity behind his works.

So I was making a joke that saying 'boring black guy' would 1000% fit his movies.

Don't want to derail further so I'll leave it at that.

Rewards will come later

Taken from a good deed guide without spoilers : "Good Deed rewards are not always given immediately upon completion. In some cases, you'll need to progress further in the story or speak to a specific NPC to claim them."

That was a very informative post for you. Thanks man, now I know to avoid anything he makes should I ever come across a movie or series of his, should by some miracle happen that I actually watch something (that isn't old or the good stuff pre-"modern audiences")

A review said that you eventually get rewards but doing the sidequest is more about the friends you make along the way...

Yeah, not my favourite thing in the game tbh, especially when there is zero map and it get harder and harder to remember where every character is located.

Two non-hand-helding games in a year? Blue Prince and now this? What is happening to gaming?

3 if you include kc2 that has map markers but leave a lot of freedom to the player.

Edit: 4 is you include ac shadows that let you turn off the console all by yourself.

Man the soundtrack is SO GOOD. Insane vibes. Mysterious, creepy, futuristic. Awesome.

The Deluxe Edition comes with the full OST - 4 discs worth of content.

Huge contender for Soundtrack of the Year.

This game is awesome. As mentioned, the grim atmosphere is something else, but what really gets me is the sound design! Really evokes a sense of dread and desolation.
I love the exploration of it all, the piecing together of what's going on, and what has happened. One of the better games I've played this year, and I hate being stuck at work when I wanna get back to it.

I haven't pulled the trigger on this yet because supposedly the enemy variety is low.

I can forgive somewhat shallow combat but not low enemy variety. Is that true?

It is:

GameBlast - Thiago da Silva - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10

Hell is Us was a pleasant surprise, featuring a great story and robust gameplay. Despite low enemy variety and challenging puzzles for casual players, its positive aspects stand out. Rogue Factor outdid itself with this project, and I look forward to the studio's next games.

When is it actually supposed to release? My copy was delivered today and mine is not the delux edition, bought the normal edition

Yes! We do need more games that don't have a map, that in unique ways can still show you more or less where you need to go. But as he says too, this isn't exactly always easy to do and nail it too. But I do wish more games did this, so that you never have to open up a map , put a marker and then always watch your minimap.

A physical copy? Wouldn't it just start?

For digital I only found that it releases 3 AM EDT

So a tad less than 16 hours from now

Never asked if it would start, no one is dumb enough to think you can only play a physical copy on release day(I think call of duty is the only one that does dumb shit like that). Simply asked when is the actual release date, because I'm not used to being this lucky and getting games before release.

This has been a lucky week for me. Cancelled Lost Soul Aside last friday early in the morning after playing the demo, before the courier delivers it, Amazon(local Amazon not Amazon USA) cancelled and refunded the order. Courier rocked up again on Monday saying it has to be delivered as I never answered on Friday. Took the delivery, contacted Amazon and told them I've already been refunded because I asked them to cancel the order. Amazon just told me "no worries, no need to return it. Keep it." And now Hell Is Us (standard edition) is delivered before release day. Hope there is some more good luck waiting for me this week. Though I wouldn't necessarily call a free copy of Lost Soul Aside good luck

Game is insane so far

Looking forward to start it. Currently just finishing the game I'm currently busy with the I'll start Hell Is Us.

P.S. While my physical copy is not the deluxe edition, I downloaded the OST from a site and holy hell, the OST is amazing

4 hours in and I am extremely surprised to say the least.

Demo was off-putting, but my old mate gifted me the game and now I just can't stop playing it. The atmosphere, storytelling, puzzles and exploration are genuinely good. Level design is both compact and memorable. Art-design is impeccable.

Combat is meh, but this game allows you to turn on the easy mode and forget about your SoulBorne struggles.

I can totally see myself 100%'ing this one this in a week. And yeah, the demo kinda sucked ass, the game is way better, responsive and interesting in the end.

10 hours in, still insane. Super duper quick thoughts

Health regen mechanic from Bloodborne and stamina regen mechanic from Ni-Oh, although not new, works perfectly in the game

Performance and graphics are great and best of all; extremely clean (PS5 Pro)

Combat feels and plays impactful. Every hit with your weapon really does feel like it's striking and slicing the enemy, while getting hit feels similarly

Every time you discover new info that's related to old stuff, they add that new piece of information with white text (instead of the regular green), so you know exactly what to look after. It's QOL that saves so much time.

Zones are neither too big or too small

No maps, markers etc REALLY does the game a favor

Equipment and gear choices feel impactful

Cyberpunk / Synthwave / Dark Synth OST is soooooooo good

The SFX all-around is 10/10. And I'm not exclusively talking about the sound of rain or the ambience in caves... no, the SFX when hitting enemies and QTE them is orgasmic

No photo mode is a disgrace for such a wonderful looking game

Difficulty is on the easier side despite playing on the hardest with all the sliders to max

Main character design

Playing it on PC. Feels pretty smooth Might try it on my OLED in the living room this week for comparison, otherwise my ultrawide OLED in my Studio Room feels good as is.

Sucks about enemy variety, but I think for what this is I won't mind it much.

From my time with the game I have come to the realization that the game is meant to shine on his exploration, mood, world building and puzzles rather than combat. I think combat is there to create some tension and give the player a challenge but is not the main focus or even that important. That's the feeling I get when playing this

"How do find out that if someone owns an OLED? You don't have to, they'll tell you"

This and Silksong will be my games for a while. Just need to get my broken hands healed snd be freed from this cast. A few more weeks of clicking only games.

PSA: the game has photo mode

You have to push Start button plus up in D-Pad at the same time
I tried this and it doesn't work! Please confirm with me that I'm not stupid as hell?!

EDIT: Yup, I was just stupid!

Aaaand... Platinum'd it! 🤩

Definitely in my Top 5 this year!

From "Ugh, this Demo is boring!" to "Hm, let's give it another try" to "Okay, it's pretty great, I think I have to buy it" to "OMG, give me that early access for 20 bucks more I NEED it now!!!" this was an absolute sleeper hit for me.
