"people are just calling them the completely wrong thing because it's easier"?

wut?

yes, you will have to spend $5-9 per device to upgrade to the newest USB standard.

let me repeat that to you.. you will need to spend $5-9 per device. You're not required to replace your device in the vast majority of cases (unusual for going to a new tech). Your devices aren't instantly obsoleted (unsual for going to a new tech). Literally about the least frustrating way to move to a new version of tech possible, and people are still bitching.

I get people will bitch "because apple".. but USB-C is vastly superior to USB-A, and to upgrade to the new connector your total cost is a new cable, with almost every existing device continuing to work fine (wired mouse and keyboards being the main exception)

You're still spending money on something you shouldn't have to! You're focused on the word dongle for some reason and it's really weird.

Does anyone know if the Touch Bar has any sort of tactile feedback? If not, I just don't see how the Touch Bar is going to be useful.

I should've gotten this when Samsung offered free $50 vouchers on their website.

I don't know know, I've been wanting a drone for a long time and the Mavic Pro looks great. My MBA is still pretty solid so I think I'd rather put the money towards that.

I also don't get the hate. USB C is obviously the future and when it was announced most people seemed to be excited for it.

Obviously if you switch over there is going to be growing pains as you either get a dongle for your old tech or upgrade. But the idea of a single port for USB, video, and power (that also allows you to charge from other devices) was awesome to me from day one.

Not sure about the new TouchBar. I have to try it out. I was also undecided on them getting rid of a mechanical trackpad but the new version is actually better than the old one. Sometimes Apple does actually get it right.

Not really. I could use this touchbar for you know, customizing my function keys. That alone is more useful than a huge dial that is only useful if you're a digital artist anyway.

For me personally, the dial would have zero value.

But that surface model is designed for artists and creators in mind. Of course it wouldn't have value to you thats why the price is so out there, its not meant for you. Nor was the dial meant for any use outside of what it was intended for.

The oled bar is far more useful for general users but in almost every case they tried to use it a touch screen would have sufficed.

It's a forcing of a new standard before it's had a chance to come anywhere near properly saturated in the market. This is like eliminating VGA ports the day the HDMI spec came out. There's still a shit ton of people who still use USB-A devices, would it kill them to include one or two?

Please show me usbc to hdmi cables then, havent been able to find 1.

thunderbolt3 to HDMI. They are thunderbolt3 ports backwards compatible to USB-C. There are already USB-C/T3 to DP cables.. my guess is there will be USB-C/T3 to HDMI cables in the store today.

Wait.

What.

A kind of sort of but not really MacBook Air replacement? So what.. now they have the MacBook, the MacBook Air (Stagnant), a new Air Pro with actual keys and the 13" and 15" Pro models with touch pad?

Damn. Guess they didn't have enough courage to actually kill the Air.

Let's see if Apple includes Polaris GPUs on their base model of Macbook Pro 15.

Doubt it, but they mention up to 4GB cards so it sounds like they'll actually have a card in a a SKU that's not the absolute most expensive setup, which is better than last gen when all you got was the M370X.
