you guys do realise the Surface studio starts at 3 grand and the Surface laptop starts at 2.4 grand right?

Microsoft probably spent close to a billion on R&D for the Surface studio unlike Apple who just adds the lamest gimmicks imaginable to appeal to their fanbase.

This just hit me.

Fuck I can't believe this pricing. The one I would want is $3199 with a 1TB SSD and there's just no way to justify that price for me.
In order to get a machine with equivalent specs to the one I have now, I only have to pay $100 more. ($1799) Which is nice and all. But I was hoping to go lower and smaller next time. I only bought this high end because I needed something to last me, which it has, so I'll see how the 13" Touchbar models are next year when I do decide to upgrade. I really dont even need a Pro. But their non-Pro offerings are really dumb right now. You either have the stagnant cheap Air, which I don't want because I owned two before I got this machine and they're just underpowered, and then you have the brand new MacBook who is still an infant and a revision A model and overpriced and underpowered. I'd have to pay at least $2199 to get even a 13" model with the 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD I need as well as a touchbar.

Guess I'll look into finally getting a gaming PC for my gaming needs and hope that by next fall all the MacBook models have settled down.

$1299 for a 13-inch MBP w/ Touch Bar and Touch ID would be amazing.
$1399 I could deal with it.
But $1799?

I really do not want to go back to a Windows machine, guess I will have to wait for another year to see if Apple drops the price when switching to Kaby Lake.

I don't follow Apple prices cause, well it is Apple. Who really has time for that.

Anyway, what prices were people expecting?

This reminds me, I once paid £1600 in total for a MBP + AppleCare without realising I could have saved a few hundred had I used my Education Discount.

Apple is hungry for money it seems, these pricings are fucking absurd

People are whining, but watch the news ''New Mac Book Pro breaking records!''. :lol

This just hit me.

The icing on the cake, you can't even pair iPhones to Macbooks via bluetooth if you want to stream podcasts or something you have saved on your phone through your laptop speakers. Their two premier devices can't even talk to each other without buying extra cables.

Those are 480p.

Yep, you're right. Ugh, that explains the grainy video. 720p still seems really lame for a "pro" model.

Kind of glad I bought a 15" last year looking at those prices. Hopefully it last me 5 years and I win the lottery during that time so I can afford to say with mac os.

I'm not.
I though I was going to, but no, I'm not.

Why? It's a year old laptop?

I ponied up since I'm rocking a 2009 model. The pricing definitely sucks, but I needed it and wasn't going to buy the previous line up, which was overpriced for other reasons.

A Surface Book would be tempting if there was any way to run OS X and if MS didn't have continuous build and product commitment issues. I do like the build quality on those, but they just won't work for what I do.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
I have a 3+ year old rMBP 15".

If I "upgrade," the comparable laptop is, versus my old one:

$300 more
Same RAM
Same Storage
Roughly the same battery life
Worse KB
Worse ports
No SD slot
Mildly faster/more efficient CPU
~50% faster graphics.... but 50% better than 750M crap is still crap

Slightly better display and a better trackpad.

$2,900. TWO THOUSAND AND NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Man, I didn't realize these Things are hardcapped to 16GB RAM.

In 2016.

I mean, these ARE MacBook Pro's. Not the normal plebeian MacBooks.

Wait, I just noticed the new Macbook Pro doesn't come with a USB-C to USB adaptor, just the charging one.

That is crazy. I mean, it's not like they cost a fortune or anything, but I'd expect a dongle for convenience given the kind of dosh it commands.

These prices are INSANE! I already sold my 2014 rmbp and now I don't know what to do. Will have to seriously consider windows.

You can share library over wireless since forever ago but yea I do agree it's pretty idiotic that they don't include some adapters. In any case I plug my phone into my computer on a nightly basis to sync library.

This is what has been pissing me off about the iPhone 7 thing from the start.

This isn't like Apple killing the floppy drive or the CD drive. In the first case, we moved to CD's, in the second, we moved to thumb drives.

There. Is. No. Headphone jack. Replacement. To. Move. To.

There is lightning, which works on literally two product lines in the entire world—the iPhone and the iPad. Three if you count the (dead?) iPod Touch.

Want to use headphones with your TV? Want to use headphones WITH YOUR BRAND NEW LAPTOP MADE BY APPLE?! Sorry, you can't.

And to think one of the key advantages to USB C is that it can be used on both computers and phones...

Seriously disappointing event.
The Pros don't impress me at all. The touch bar seems a gimmick. " Who uses function keys nowadays, an ancient 40 years old technology?". Well, programmers, Apple.
The prices and configurations are insane. 250€ for an extra 8GB of ram?
The Macbooks still priced at 1500€?
256 GB in a 1700€ laptop?
I'm not falling for this.

Also, no new iMacs after the cool Surface Studios Microsoft showed yesterday, no new AppleTV, no new Cinema Display, no new Airports...

I'm not one to say Apple is doomed after every keynote, but they've failed to impress AT ALL for the last two years.
