I know USB-C is the future and all, but it seems really stupid that anyone who wants to physically connect their iPhone to their new MacBook Pro is going to need an adapter. They really should have switched the iPhone to USB-C this year.

USB-C is just USB. aside from mouse and keyboard, most devices is simply a different cable. Most devices don't have a hardwired USB plug.

USB-C proprietary? lol. troll confirmed.

You still have to buy a new cable for your devices. People are just choosing to call them dongles because it's easier

I wonder if Apple will ever revisit this concept considering what MS did yesterday.

I don't see it happening for years. It solves their "no one wants to poke a vertical screen all day" dilemma but macOS is in no way ready for touch.

Having grown up with a lot of Gen X cousins that were actual djs back in the late 80s and early 90s, this is laughable what people are labeling djs.

it's kind of an awkward situation because they could include a USB-C to Lightning cable with the iPhone but then the vast majority of regular USB users would be fucked. Probably cost prohibitive to include both

lol I turn this thing on and some guy is scratching with the touch bar. Do these companies realize that the vast majority of people don't give a flying shit about this stuff.

Actual Video editors won't use this.
Actual Djs won't use this.

It's going to be pretty much exclusively for skipping songs and changing the volume just like the current keyboard keys

I wonder if they will have a dongle packed in for usb c to usb 2.0 or whatever. How else can I charge my iphone or ipad on it???

Ok, seriously though, I thought the touch bar might be neat but the more I watch this the more I think it's just a huge compromise for just not having a touch screen which would be much easier to use for all this stuff.

It just seems so clunky to use.

I think that patent surfaced a good 6/7 years ago.
I think Snow Leopard was out at the time and that introduced super high resolution app icons and I remember all sorts of crazy things theorising that OS was gonna run on that machine.
crazy.

So so far everything theyve demoed with the touchbar can be achieved easier and more eloquently with the keyboard and trackpad.

this stupid touch should be located on top of the trackpad, that would be usefull. That shit they are showing is like an update of a 90's keyboard with shortcuts to the IE and MAIL or Search.

i had to stop the presentention, it was so embarrasing.

Far more useful than this laughable touchbar.

Not really. I could use this touchbar for you know, customizing my function keys. That alone is more useful than a huge dial that is only useful if you're a digital artist anyway.

For me personally, the dial would have zero value.
