So after wanting to try MOBAs yet being intimidated, but also being a huge Blizzard fan....I finally got around to giving this game a chance last week and I'm really enjoying it. Been playing nothing but AI matches to get a feel for the heroes and maps but I would love to play with some teamwork against other players now that I got a feel for it all.

If any of you guys play and wouldn't mind being patient with me being new, and helping me out without being an asshat, I'd love to play with fellow GAFers my id is: akaBueno#1840

Running into a lot of envenom and double envenom which just makes playing The Butcher in solo queue no fun. The duration may have been increased but it's still pretty much a health delete. You need to rely on there even being a support and the likelihood they'll pick and use Cleanse is next to nil. Envenom also pretty much decides a man-mode fight between two Butcher's. Makes you cautious with when or if you even engage.

Oh well, hit 100 tonight and got a free mount.

Looks sweet with third Muradin tint.

I may be wrong but I really feel like they really need to redo/reclass sonya as a melee dps rather than a tank.

I do so well with her when paired with a real tank, but if I'm the only tank? Fuck that. I just have a lot of fun pushing lanes and jungling with her.

Mid/end game she does tons of damage beserk + poison chain and then it's just one slam or two and most are dead (at the low rating I probably play at), but even with def/healing talents she doesn't feel all that tanky.

Slam still feels janky, but I'm getting used to it. Either way I'm having tons of fun with her, feels weak early game but badass mid to late. But I've only played like 3 games with her.

Reghars chain heal build is *utterly* ridiculous right now. Once you hit 20 and get rewind, he basically has two ancestral heals - and one of them heals your team for massive amounts as well.

It's a shame because it locks you out of all the interesting aggressive talents on him, but as a healer he's so strong right now you would be mad to pick those talents. Even in a two healer game I would make the other healer go dps rather than him.

I really like Sonya as a warrior-assassin hybrid. She packs a really good punch esp with Wrath of the Berserker (which some people will not expect because she usually don't seem like a threat). She can initiate, she can sustain, and does a decent job at tanking.

I find that in team fights, I can get right in the middle of it and generally stay in there for the majority of the fight while applying pressure. Something a short tactical retreat to quickly regain health, and then I'm already back in the fight. Lack of reliance on mana also means prolonged fighting potential.

So yeah, I really like Sonya. One of my fav 'warriors'

I had that happen once. It is the only time in my history of HOTS that I've felt like I was raging. Didn't freak out at anyone, just was pissed.

All it takes is a couple idiots and you to be doing warrior or support dailies on any non-damage dealing hero from those pools and it's easy.

Also easy if you are on a specialist that isn't assassin like (Gazlowe) because you can only push so far without help due to the way the AI protects the base if you get in the courtyard.

I've had it happen three times since Alpha. Once on Gazlowe, once on ETC, and once on Chen. Sad times.

Do you mean the W one? And yeah would make it much less janky.

Totally expecting Jaina/Zeratul to get some numbers shaved down slightly in the next patch- the current draft meta is absurdly predictable-1st ban takes out whoever they want (Kael is often a very good choice), 2nd ban takes out Zeratul/Jaina, 1st pick takes whoever wasn't banned in ban 2.

Per Jake/Cooby the DK is borked right now, apparently the blast wave when it dies is acting like Condemn, so the map's banned.

I love her as a concept, and when things go perfectly (ie, the enemy plays badly), she's a blast. But she still needs a lot of work. And like the others posting above, I also like the idea of changing her W to a regular cone targetable. The other thing I think needs changing is her whirlwind (again). It's been nerfed to oblivion so much that I'm no longer sure when to use it.

I think so, I don't think they're mean enough to just put Sonya in there solo.

There is always an Assassin, Warrior, Support, and Specialist in the weekly pool. Of those, there is always a Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft hero, so that daily quests can always be completed.

I don't think I've seen a week with only a 'bruiser' warrior like Sonya or Tyrael, but I'm not sure if that's been on purpose or not.

I've been trying for 10 minutes to get a match. Estimate is 87 seconds but I've let it go to 500 twice and then relaunched/requeued. Second time I got in a match and 2 players were disconnected before the loading screen and I got kicked back to lobby again.

That's awful I've never ever waited that long (maybe 2 mins tops for QM and I'm L32 if that counts but no idea what my MMR is). Granted, I haven't played in a week but I'll be back online soon.

Also, bought Abathur finally. I don't think I have ever had so much fun in this game. I've never felt so much power to make or break a game. For example, if a team doesn't hunt me it is GG almost immediately with his pushing. That being said, if they keep constant pressure on me I haven't built up my dexterity well yet.

I should probably start playing hero league to get a rank, but I enjoy Murky, Abathur, and siege built Sylvannas too much to have to play towards a team.

2-0'd in the first round. First game we dominated and got too aggressive and almost threw, then we went too passive from there on out and just let them inch back in. It was a 30+ minute game of Cursed Hollow. Second game we messed up in the draft a bit (picked a hero we had no one to play due to the other roles so we had to use our last pick on a different hero than we planned) and it went about like you'd expect. It was over quick. We ran Gazlowe both games.

I played like shit in the second game too.

The team we faced made it to the round of 32 before they got beat. They were about equal MMR with us, two dudes who were higher and 3 dudes who were a bit lower. We probably would've been able to take them on a good day, but we'd sort of been in a tailspin since Thursday.

It was an experience. Bit of a cluster organization wise until the final hours, but all in all nothing terrible other than the fact we lost. Definitely worth a shot in August if anyone else was interested in giving it a go with their own team. Nothing to lose but some pride and two series wins gets ya some money.
