Who knew Muradin was such a DPS beast? Only DPS talent I got was Burning Rage also.

every week you have one hero in the rotation that can only be accessed at level 12 and one at level 15, johanna is the level 15 hero this week

This game is my first foray into MOBAs, period. I played a few Versus AI matches to get used to how the game works, bought Lili. I played a few quick matches and it's pretty fun!

Lili is like the best hero ever! I loved Chen and her in the WoW Pandaria questlines when leveling, so it was a treat to see her included in this game.

my first game in ages, somehow we threw a 2 level lead near the end and lost. I see nothing's changed :p

what did change was queue took ages, and then we had no support anyway. My team was Nazeebo (me), Murky, Butcher, Kael, Zeratul >_>

2-0'd in the first round. First game we dominated and got too aggressive and almost threw, then we went too passive from there on out and just let them inch back in. It was a 30+ minute game of Cursed Hollow. Second game we messed up in the draft a bit (picked a hero we had no one to play due to the other roles so we had to use our last pick on a different hero than we planned) and it went about like you'd expect. It was over quick. We ran Gazlowe both games.

I played like shit in the second game too.

The team we faced made it to the round of 32 before they got beat. They were about equal MMR with us, two dudes who were higher and 3 dudes who were a bit lower. We probably would've been able to take them on a good day, but we'd sort of been in a tailspin since Thursday.

It was an experience. Bit of a cluster organization wise until the final hours, but all in all nothing terrible other than the fact we lost. Definitely worth a shot in August if anyone else was interested in giving it a go with their own team. Nothing to lose but some pride and two series wins gets ya some money.

Nice to see a gaffer going hard in these competitions. I'd definitely be interested in watching your team.

Reached new levels of frustration this past week with this game. Last night we ended up saying fuck it and picked random select. Got Zagara and was reminded how dominant she is. Then got Valla who I only played to 5 months ago and man, she's so straight forward and enjoyable, I'll have to start using her now when I get in a rut. Lastly got new ETC, who is just so much more fun to play than Diablo or Muradin that I think I'm going to have to add him to my rotation.

So yeah, when things looked bleak, three straight wins with Random Select. I'll have to try this more often.

If someone gets kicked for inactivity, or leaves before you. Is there still a penalty if you leave? Super unfair and lame if so, because it's kind of impossible at that point.

It was five GAFers actually. We thought about doing a GAF centric name but Gundy gave us Stronk Tenk.

We could've went harder I guess. We kept debating over signing up all the way up to the day before the deadline and only practiced for two or three hours on three days after that. It was mostly for the kick of being cast and the fun.

We didn't even end up being cast that I could see and even though that was one of the main goals I'm kind of glad we didn't honestly. The way we lost each game was a little embarrassing (see it all the time in normal games, not so much in a tournament) but at least we tried I guess. Definitely things we each have to work on. AFAIK we won't be in the next one due to scheduling stuff so maybe some other GAF team will crop up.

Yes, you're still penalized.

I agree with you there should be no penalty if someone AFK's/leaves and is gone for 'x' number of minutes (3 or 5 probably IMO), but right now everyone left behind gets to enjoy a 98% or better chance at losing and the fact that they have to stick around til it's over. Good times.

Where on earth is the EU Blizzcon open? We haven't even had June's yet and Europe is by far the largest scene for HoTs.

Think the first one is right around the corner.

They had Bakery (not sure on name) from SK Gaming on Town Hall Heroes and were talking about this very thing. I didn't hear any clear reason for the delay other than whoever is running it just hasn't gotten it going, I guess.

They did seem to indicate there was possibly a tournament for the July Open in the near future but I don't see mention of it anywhere and it doesn't look like ESL is the one organizing it.

Got an AFK message for taking the two shrines by myself (in co-op).

Nice system Blizzard. Very intelligent AFK detection AI.

Sounds like working as intended to me.

If you're riding from top lane to bottom for that amount of time and never encounter a minion or attack anything - even if you do cap those shrines - of course it's gonna flag you as AFK.

When I have seen AFKer's or quitters that's often exactly what they do. Ride around on their mount for a few minutes doing nothing, occasionally hit something to reset the timer, and then eventually get bored of it and get kicked. I'm fairly sure just moving in the past (in Alpha at the least) kept you from being flagged

It could be better, sure, but it was previously abused in that same way to keep from being flagged AFK.

The AFK detection system is aggressive, perhaps overly so, but given how much I absolutely loathe defeatist players, I'm okay with it.

I think the defeatist players are worse than toxic ones. A toxic player will generally keep on playing, so you at least have a chance of turning a match around. The defeatist ensures your loss.

I eventually gave up the Dragon Knight in order to get to the throne asap to hit something.

Probably won't come up in a real game but damned if I didn't feel extremely silly for giving up an objective to go PvP to avoid getting kicked.

Same. Happened to me on Zeratul about a week/week and a half ago. Team got wiped except for me and I was just riding around scouting late in a Garden of Terror because it was pretty much over. By the time the team got rezzed up and got caught up the timer went off.

EDIT: This BACKBONE team making me feel good about our games yesterday. Wow. So bad.

Bo-Berries also showing a lot of nonsense macro-level decisionmaking. (Picking both Exposure and the -25% Syl talent at the same time, and going for a pick comp when they let their opponents have Zeratul.)

ZoiaTV- Dying Generation (who drafted amazingly up until the WTF pick) vs Complexity

edit: And Complexity is just wrecking them with better soak and tons of jaina/ty ganks.

Nearly every single game today has been a one-sided stomp. I really hope they realize internally that they threw something off when they altered the EXP curve.

People who go into hero league with the mindset "I am going to play this hero, fuck team comp" are the worst.

Yeah that's awesome you want to play kaelthas. You refuse to talk in lobby and you are last pick and we have no support. Or the first three picks are Abathur, Tassadar, Tyrande.

That just happened in my game. Why would they pick that as a composition.

Like what.

Also those times you are matched with people 30 ranks below you on their second hero league game. People complain about match maker for a reason. It's absolutely insane when it feels like most of your losses are out of your control.

That's why I stopped playing ranked and captain's mode in Dota 2. Weird 5th picks or, worse, being subject to some random mouth-breather's idea of a good picks/bans with NO discussion with the rest of the team and then having to ride that our for the next hour. At least in All Pick it kinda didn't matter.

Zeebo's back to being playable this patch for sure. Really hope they buff his U2 tho- I miss it.

Yeah he is playable, which is fun, but he still needs something to even approach what he was. He's kind of like a full bodied Murky right now, lot more damage, but like the slime it hits everyone in the area and has no ult on the level of Octograb anymore.

Gargantuan can do some work when you can keep it on what it's supposed to be. Still don't understand why it's not controllable.

Got distracted by the news about iwata. How did they throw it?
Had control all game, went for a boss with 3 people instead of letting Butcher trying to solo it a second time, got blown up for it when all 5 got pulled into a hinterland's by Jo.

Dang, judging by how the rest of the games went today I assumed it was going to game 3. I saw most of the game and came back in time to see the core falling.

Had some interesting games tonight and learned something new about the line of sight.

I was protecting the statue in Dragon Shire as Nova, because the enemy team had both shrines, and I was waiting for my teammates to reclaim one shrine.
When suddenly, out of nowhere it seemed, someone got the Dragon Knight. Wathcing the replay from my point of view it looked the same. Someone got it without standing in front of the statue on the platform and casting it.
Turned out, I was standing to close to the statue, and had no line of sight to the platform, because the statue blocked my sight.
(previously I had killed one enemy trying to cast the Dragon Knight from the same position, which worked, because a teammate gave me sight)

Maybe old news to some of most, but it was new to me.

Interaction question, when Stitches uses Gorge on a Butcher with Furnace Blast channeling, the channel is uninterrupted, does Stitches eat the damage from the blast or is it merely cancelled out?

I turned off automatic replay saves and forgot to save after the match, It was hard to tell if what Stitches was taking damage from because it was a 5v5 teamfight.

There's only so much a specialist can do in a game. I feel like should just being killing towers, and helping once in a while in team battles. Though, it seems like everyone dies if I don't help out.

You should be at every team fight bar few exceptions. You not being there pretty much means a guaranteed 5v4 and you lose.
