I thought LOTV was going to be released this summer which appears to not be the case at all. We'll probably get another warcraft hero if that's the case.

Yea that's some interesting stuff there. I'm really interested in how that spreadsheet works to determine the next heroes. It must be screaming "more supports!" Right about now.

And no new Diablo map for now is a major bummer. I like battlefield in concept and design, but in practice it just seems too random or just impossible to meta game. Basically it comes down to those protracted team fights in mid, which are lots of fun in an arena mode kind of way. but theyre also just a giant crap shoot in terms of map strategy at least in solo que.

I think if they go Warcraft hero next it needs to be a healer, so priest I guess.

Scroll down to the interview, or do a ctrl-F for 'franchise'

"After Butcher, Leoric and Monk they will move onto other Blizzard franchises - no more Diablo heroes for now; may return to Diablo afterwards."

Missed that completely. Still think it seems silly but it's Blizzard. Why sit on a map the assets are done for and for a game with (seemingly) no other event on the horizon for a while to hype or tie in to? Gonna be pretty short event in total if it stops at monk.

Then again the main thing is that it got us regular and more frequent content. Let's hope it stays that way.

They probably just don't want to extend the "event" until the map is actually ready. It'll probably still be the next map, for the reasons you mentioned, but if it takes till November to be finished then they'd be kind of limited when it came to hero releases and not to mention all the free gold from treasure goblins. Can't have that go on for too long.

So who are the next most likely Warcraft heroes anyway? Mekkatorque? Varian Wrynn? The Rogue? Rexxar?

We know Rexxar, Mekkatorque and Zul'Jin were in development at one point. You'd think they might do Gul'dan with the current WoW thing going on but it seems like it'd be a bit late for that

Support Mekkatorque would be dope

Also whenever they add KelThuzad it'll be quite interesting how much of the frost/Lich stuff they give him, how they differentiate that from Jaina, and what role he would be. He could fit either a specialist or support archetype pretty easily.

I'd really love Mekkatorque purely for the dialogue between him and Gazlowe, after they played up the rivaly between Goblins and Gnomes in the Hearthstone expansion. And yeah, I totally forgot about Kel'Thuzad!

To be fair, the fact that there's no metagame to it makes it a good map. There are no obvious moves to make, so team comp options and strategies are more open on that map compared to others.

Of course, this would be more pronounced with a more diverse hero pool, but we're getting there. My only worry is that the last few patches have left me feeling like there are officially more heroes on the game than they have the time to tweak and balance. Every patch we get a new character, about 3-5 character reworks/balance passes, and everyone else just gets small adjustments. With the current size of the map pool I'd rather they just tighten up talent choices and finish off the major character changes asap than adding more characters.

Also, Hearthstone currently gets one expansion per year, I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if Heroes gets about two per year, but this first year only getting one.

Hearthstone had a full expansion in December and another coming out in August, plus the adventure of Naxxramas and Blackrock Mountain. That's all in the last 13 months by the time the Grand Tournament drops. I don't think we know yet how frequently they'll be for HS, though I have saw it implied on several forums and sites they wanted to drop a full expansion every 6-8 months.

They'll definitely be unveiling Monk + whoever's next over the weekend, since PTR should be up Tuesday.

Let's figure this out

Artanis is the SC Warrior that's coming, but we just don't know when (guessing that it's not the hero after monk)

We know that Rexxar and Zul'jin are at least in the game, as there was that photo from last year that had them sitting there along with other unreleased heroes that are now released (Sylvanas and Leoric for example).

Mekkatorque has had a bunch of mentions all over the place.

Cho'gall is coming, he was mentioned at Blizzcon and there's a model for him out there.

They showed off an incomplete Kel'Thuzad model at Blizzcon

That's what I know of for sure. Gilbin is a support, Rexxar/Zuljin are assassins, Cho'gall could technically be anything (fwiw I think it'd be dope if he was a melee support or something), Artanis is a warrior.

If they're really hellbent on adding more supports to the game then I'd put my money on Mekkatorque being up next after monk

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Do it and have it be done Blizzard.

holy fuck yes

All of Blackthrone's moves should just be different shotgun blasts. That's free through Battle.net by the way. You can't download it through the client but you can through the main Battle.net site.

Hrm. That's alot of WoW characters in the line up. The SC Warrior will probably be released near the SC2 expansion release? Since he's also part of the preorder?

And with all those WoW characters, maybe they'll make a WoW event?

You are all forgetting kelthusad who W3 have seen a unfinished model of. They can just randomly put him in if they want to, Kael style

Oops you didn't forget him at all I'm blind and sick sorry :/

I disagree, at least for solo que, having the map meta is important because when everyone has a basic idea of what to be doing the lack of communication is not such a downside. Knowing what should be happening when creates opportunities for people to cooperate or attempt to make plays with out having to type in what they're planning on doing.

On battlefield, the options are really limited to push/soak a side lane or go mid and ? that's where I feel like it's a total shit show as far as having no control over how good or smart your teammates are and the strategy devolves into hoping were are ahead somehow 3 minutes from now.

what? downloading now.

I hate the new map. It's such a senseless, pointless brawl and it lacks the obvious" go do this" objective that the other maps have. Defend, attack, soak lanes - all seem to work sometimes and not others.

I feel the same.

Only reason it's not my least favorite map in QM is because the random comp MM tends to heavily screw one side or the other on Mines by loading a team up with Sylvanas or Zag/random specialist while the other team gets KT and double tank or some shit.

It's not insurmountable but it is definitely a map specific version of the imbalance you feel in support vs pseudo support.

It's the first time that I've been hunted down by Nova so much on Jaina
She killed me 8 times during the whole match and my team was too stupid to not focus on her.
Dman fuck, when I play Nova I don't have that luck at all.

I am so digusted at moment.

1 on 1 ganks with nova don't bother me usually. It's the "I'm gonna win this 1 v 1...oh wait here's nova to tip the scales" situations that makes me flip tables :p
