It really depends? If it's dumb cross-promotion, I'm not a fan, but if it's something like Smash Bros where it's recognizing history I think it's cool.

I am not playing this game for other IP to show up to be like a PR scheme like the Nissan Leaf gas station in Simcity.
They can create original HoTS heroes with no reference to their other IP, and that's fine.

I mean, it seems like a weird thing for Blizzard to want to do. They've got a lot more IP characters they haven't leveraged, even if they're being weird about all their old stuff (D2, etc.).

But, I mean, if somebody wants to pay Blizzard a bunch of cash to put their IP into HotS, it'll probably happen. I don't really see why it would matter -- it's not like HotS has a cohesive storyline which would be damaged. It's probably a step below Smash's justification of "the whole thing is a kid playing with action figures" in terms of narrative sensibilities.

We don't know for certain but right now it looks like they're aiming for a much smaller hero count overall. Like 50-ish.

Considering how much of a pool of characters they have access to, it'd be a shame to pull characters from other IPs just for the sake of it. They should bring some overwatch heroes over to HoTS before starting to look around (after exhausting many of the easy pickings they still have from their active franchises).

Okay i'm just going to admit this up front. I'm new to MOBA's, as are all of my friends. A few of us are giving this a proper go and seeing what we think. So far after about a week we all really like it.

We're all trying to spend as little real money as possible and looking to see which characters are the best to spend our gold on. Right now two of us have 7000 and the other 2 have 4000 in gold. What I mean by "best" is characters that we'll all around get the most enjoyment, competitiveness, and value out of. Personally I REALLY enjoy playing the medic classes. That and any other tips or suggestions for a bunch of MOBA newbs?

This depends more on what you like to play than anything else imho.. No matter how good the meta is on a character, if you don't "feel" it you wont play good with it.

At start, I would suggest to try out different chars on rotation make some more gold and save your gold and buy something later when you are more familiar with the game. Enjoying playing your character is way more important at the start.

I run into bad Murky more than Aba period.



You don't understand what I mean when I say 4 Protect 1 but it's more of a Dota thing (maybe LoL too?) where 4 players have to hold the lanes and match for X amount of time before a carry they've been baby sitting in safe lane or jungle finishes farming, gets a bunch of big ticket items, comes online and starts wrecking the other team.

I'm not saying you literally have to protect Murky or Abathur, what I'm saying sometimes when you're playing with either of those heroes it feels like the strain of that without the reward. Like you're down a hero that never comes online.

And by sustain I mean literally not feeding every time he spawns and runs into anything. Teamfights, forts, lone heroes, Mercs, minions...like a lemming, over and over and over and over. There's being a continual distraction or annoyance, preventing them from completing an objective and then there's being a lemming, or worse just camping a lane with March like it's Alpha Murky.

The weird thing is that the two of them should come online eventually. Both of Murky's ults can single handedly pivot a fight, and Abathur will just keep all your lanes pushed so all you have to worry about as 4 is figure out where you're going to ambush the enemy next. Sorry for the bad experience.

Some friends of mine have gotten me back into playing Heroes nearly every night. If I'm free tonight I'll pop onto GAF Mumble. NA peeps are using GAF Mumble, right?

so i downloaded this game on saturday and i've been freakin' hooked. already hit level 21 and i've bought most of the 2k gold chars. LOVING tassadar and the healing classes.

my problem is that i have no one to play with, i've just been doing quick search by myself and getting matched up with what are usually horrible teams. i'm not super pro or anything, but i definitely have a strong grasp on the game at this point. if any gaffers wanna add me and party up, i think that would be very refreshing to get a party together that knows what they're doing. hit me up!

Warriors, along with melee assassins not named Zeratul, can be one of the more frustrating things to play as in this game because typically you'll bear the brunt of it when things go wrong.

I usually end up on the bottom, or near the bottom, of the scoreboard, and I want to change that. Anybody have suggestions for a player like me to git gud?

Fair enough, but be aware that "tanks" and "Warriors" aren't the same thing. Sonya isn't a tank at all, and I'd argue that Tyrael and Anub'arak aren't really tanks either.

I was thinking about this too and it comes to the following sources for more characters.

Blizzard properties
Original HotS characters
3rd party/extraneous promotions.


I think there are too many characters in existing blizzard properties to really delve into the last two, but I wouldn't be opposed to the second philosophically since I think there is something to be had in developing this "end of time and space" thing they are calling the Nexus.

3rd party game character stuff would probably be very strange and I can't see them being in the game infinitely if that happens. I actually wouldn't really like it but it depends on what we are talking about.

Extraneous properties such as the Trix Rabbit or like Yogi Bear or something would just be funny and I would want that.

You said you enjoy "medic" characters. Save up for Tyrande. She is a support role with a ranged stun that is huge for team fights, survival. Two usable ults, can spec to do dps when you QM with a second healer.

I have a lot of fun with her anytime I use her and can change her traits around to the fit the situation.

If you are talking exclusively about ETC, he is not meant to be at the top of the scoreboard, he is a tank and and exceptional crowd controller, but you won't be getting skyhigh damage nor healing. A tip for ETC, please, for gods sake, don't use your W when doing merc camps with an ally, you will push the mercs and probably make an ally miss an aoe spell.

And remember the scoreboard numbers means almost nothing.

You're a Warrior so your hero and siege damage output likely won't ever be as high as the Assassins or Specialists on your team. General things to look at as a success as a Warrior are your K/D ratio and exp contributed. If you are there for every teamfight and objective, help secure some kills, and try not to die by forcing fights or taking too many heores on at once, those things will happen.

As E.T.C., your team's play before 10 will likely decide which heroic you pick. Not all that coordinated, you'll pick Stage Dive, if your team works well together, Mosh Pit, especially with the mobility talent at 20. You probably just want to pick Mosh Pit for practice early on. Don't be afraid to throw them out if you think the situation looks good. And press R again if you whiff it. No point dying over a missed Mosh Pit. Some people will be pricks about it but ignore them, if you don't shoot, you miss for sure.

It would depend entirely on what heroes were added and if they could in my mind fit in to the Blizzardverse.

Examples: Mario or Kirby = No way.

Morrigan, Commander Shepard, Geralt of Rivia = yep, yep, and yep.
