I don't see anything in the notes about them fixing A move for the turrets. Can anyone test this? It's a bitch to lane against.

Dehaka seems like a letdown. His moves are interesting, but just don't seem to be enough to make him competitive. Saw a Rexxar absolutely wrecking his shit earlier.

Saving my money for Tracer next month.

Can't believe Blizzard removed her from the game just like a month and a half after release...huehuehu.

For those who were on the wrong end of bad picks and bans, Jake got all your luck apparently. The dude who was supposed to ban was AFK or something, didn't ban. Jake's team first picks Li-Ming. The red team responds to the failed ban with Murky insta-lock, then Artanis:

my guess is to keep it from being a completely trash heroic

they need to kick people for being afk in draft and restart the que.

in dota when the que pops you have to ready up before you join the lobby.

I'm sure that'll be coming quickly. I imagine they simply overlooked it or just wanted to rush it out because of the demand as it was. Pretty much should always kick the AFKer if they miss their pick or their bans.

this was me like a year ago about so many things in this game lol

food butter restaurant would be a pretty good team name imho

Unending hatred (which I felt would make Illidan extra awesome) isn't so awesome yet, as you don't get the 10 bonus once you hit the 200 mark. I posted about it in the bug sections already...hope they fix this soon.

that sucks.

bans are fucking awesome. it feels so good to ban the hero that would be perfect for their comp.

I wonder if hotslogs will be able to provide ban stats. I wan't to know if li ming is 100% banned.

Has Illidan's shout when he uses The Hunt always been a global thing? Maybe I just haven't seen someone use it in forever, but man hearing him yell and come shrieking in really freaks me out.

I've been playing too many fighting games all day today. Only played like 3 heroes matches and they all went... pooorly. Had a troll in all 3. How about you guys?

The banning system was sweet for all the games though. People aren't quite sure what to ban. What do you guys ban after Li Ming and Xul? Just depends?

I am rusty as fuck. I haven't played srs bznss hots in months.

Just played a game with an Illidan who would just not die. Doesn't seem like a very smart move to buff his lifesteal, increase attack damage, attack speed and his HP pool whilst also giving him the option to deal 6% bonus HP damage every fourth swing. He was super tanky.

I don't know if I'm too old for this game, but I have the following issue: I get completely lost in team fights. If I focus at another player (either to heal or to attack), I completely lose sight of my character. I try to re-center with space but sometimes I'm just too busy spamming QWEs and hoping for the best. That's worse when I'm (poorly) controlling melee healers, as I have to keep an eye on the rest of the team's health. How do you deal with this? I want to improve, and I feel like a burden to the team. Should I prepare a cocktail of ritalin and redbull before HL matches? Should I abandon hots and start with candy crush? Maybe both?

Sylvanas is weird now. It's like they decided she was too good at siege damage and now force you to choose between Black Arrow and Withering Fire talents you used to previously be able to have at the same time. Her siege damage output feels like it's been halved.

Mind Control is great if you can find a safe place to channel, it's awesome early when your front line gate is down but you still have a keep and tower to walk an enemy through. The longer a game goes on, the less safe ground there is, the dicier it is to use. Seems like MC is a great ult to have if your team has a lot of map control but maybe not as good if you're playing from behind and nedd that AoE silence. Haven't gotten to use it on a Li-Ming yet.

I know some folks frown on this, but I'd just lock the camera man. I keep the camera locked on certain heroes to prevent exactly what you describe - things getting janky and me losing my focus on where I am. I have some wild clicks from time to time. It's not the "right" way to play optimally, but if it helps then it's right for you.

Alternatively, just hold the spacebar every time you're playing a melee and a team fight breaks out (or you could just quickly re-lock the camera then unlock afterward).

Maybe just lock the camera before a big teamfight starts and have it unlocked so you can look around the map in more calm moments.

Halved is a bit dramatic but her siege damage output has sort of been impacted by the talent re-shuffle of Withering Fire and Black Arrow talents. Sylv is another hero where it felt like there wasn't much choice at a few talent tiers but all they've done is changed the tiers where it feels like there isn't much choice. I need to play around with some talent builds.

Mind Control is pretty ace though. So much fun walking an aggressive squishy into the middle of a bunch of your fortifications and teammates.

I've seen her getting picked a lot in HL today. I thought her damage was pretty bad on PTR, but her burst is a little better. I'd like her to be viable with MC because she's one of my better ranged heroes.

ugh... the highest MMR on my team went mercenary lord SONYA on SPIDER QUEEN.

wtf.

edit: sylv is definitely better then she was in the damage department. routinely hitting 60k on her

not sure if this is optimal, but I've been going poison duration, withering range, unstable poison, wailing arrow, wind runner, poison effects heroes, and bolt.

To me she seems similar to lunara in that most of her damage is poison and you have trouble finishing people off, and then lunara has A LOT more hero damage but limited mobility and sylvanas has A LOT more mobility but limited hero damage. I think that you pick her on specific maps or for wailing arrow and ranged damage. I think that she is competitive with zagara for the solo lane.

she is a lot of fun to play now with the changes to windrunner at 13, and I think that her skill cap is much higher now.

Does Sonya really have a lot of other options other than Merc Lord at that tier though? At least since the nerfs?

every single option at that tier is better then merc lord.

that's focus attack and slam damage tier. merc lord is one of the worst talents in the game. even the root/slow break is better.

especially on spider queen, there's like 2 merc camps. He just wanted to solo boss and kept trying to tell us to "distract them". he was a moron

edit: oh yea, he also banned the hero he wanted to pick during the 2nd ban phase because he thought he was picking even though he was last pick.

Mind Control is great for grabbing a wounded straggler from a retreating team or walking an over-aggressive player into your team/forts. It's a little harder to grab a backline hero like Morales or Li-Ming safely. It's a great ult though, she definitely has two viable ults now.

Her build diversity sucks though. Like I net more siege damage with two Black Arrow talents at 1 and 7 with Paralysis and Unstable Poison than I do with Withering Fire siege damage oriented talents from 1-7 with Overflowing Quiver, Withering Barrage and Barbed Arrow. Mercenary Queen looks awful so that pretty much leaves one viable talent at level 1, two viable talents at level 4 and maybe one talent at 7. Possession might be fun to take laning with a Xul or Zagara but it doesn't really look worthwhile. Level 13 is always Will of the Forsaken for me, it gets out of so much CC. 16 is almost all teamfight/hero-centric abilities and one survivability talent.

It doesn't feel like there's a siege damage Sylvanas and more teamfight-y Sylvanas, just this awkward mash-up of assassin and specialist. I guess she's always been that but the specialist part feels worse now. And it feels like she has less build diversity compared to before.

I've been rolling with Paralysis, With The Wind, Unstable Poison, mostly just been using MC because it's new, Will of the Forsaken, 16 is kinda open, and usually second tier of MC.

ehh. I think unstable poison is OP is brings plenty of seige damage. I mean she's no xul, but she has a place.

I do agree that her build diversity is a little meh kind of.

does unstable poison affect map objectives? I dont think it does, but if it does then barbed shots is completely useless talent.

they should switch barbed shot and withering barrage.

also, does remorseless and fury of the storm stack? how much damage is that?

edit: just tested it and no, fury of the storm doesn't stack with remorseless. It's doesn't increase your auto attacks just adds bonus damage. that being said, when it procs you got 260 ish damage from remorsless right click + 200 bonus from fury of the storm, +100 for each withering arrow. It's pretty decent. the merc wave disappears instantly.... and maybe you don't really need bolt on sylvanas?

Thanks for the input guys, I'll step up my camera-locking game.

ugh... the highest MMR on my team went mercenary lord SONYA on SPIDER QUEEN.

I understand specs having mercenary-related talents, but is there a reasonable explanation for a pseudo-assassin to have one too? Sometimes I feel that hots is a kind of schizophrenic game, trying to make mercs relevant but also mainly focusing on team fights.

Alur

Other than the golems, it does sometimes feel like you could remove the mercs from the game and all it would actively impact is how many people needlessly die to get the useless bruisers at the wrong time.

Not that I'm advocating that they do that, it's just they are certainly not as impactful as they were during the Alpha. I still remember people taking all four camps on Haunted Mines first phase instead of even going in the mines and getting more push out of those mercs than you could a full golem.

Minions that die under the effects of Black Arrow deal 116 damage to nearby enemies. Does not damage Heroes or Structures.

It doesn't explicitly state mercs so it's safe to assume they're also excluded from Unstable Poison's damage? Maybe Barbed Arrows is specifically useful against mercs and other objective units like the Immortal, Terror, DK, etc.

So Black Arrow talents are for pushing lanes and Withering Fire talents, specifically Barbed Arrow, are for objectives?

Possession isn't totally bad. The charge cooldown is pretty low for what it does.

Ketch

but the minions don't get buffed or anything from it. it needs like the promote stats or something... but it's still weird having 3 talents onthe tier that basically serve the same purpose... one of them is best, and are they really even situational?

Possession just converts. Unstable Poison is good while Possession and Barbed Arrow are situationally useful...so you're just going to pick Unstable Poison every time? Possession can add pressure to a Xul, Azmodan or Zegara fueled wave but, Unstable Poison just helps push that along faster. Barbed Arrow doesn't feel worthwhile on its own.

Mercenary Queen is garbage. Overflowing Quiver doesn't seem really useful, I miss Splinter Arrow.

Withering Barrage might be useful with Windrunner for an aggressive chase build. I dunno.

The net goal of the changes seems to be to weaken solo-push Syl as a strategy and require her to have help to get anything done (in a reasonable amount of time.) The teamfight stuff being added to compensate, and it's a good direction to take her. But boy does she need another talent pass.

I hate having to farm an Arcane Shield on Kael'Thas, it's fucking stupid. I don't get it. Li-Ming has a mini-Bolt of the Storm built into her kit that she can skill more range, survivability, and damage on to while Jaina loses Bolt at 20 because it's "problematic" late-game. She also has a level 4 talent that returns 1/4 of her health just by being near someone dying. She doesn't have to kill the hero, she doesn't even have to assist, just be near by. Meanwhile KT has to farm orbs all match long to eventually, maybe get two shields in one match? It's just stupid. What are they thinking?

Even though Living Bomb is arguably better now, it's hell trying to wade into range to apply it against a team with Li-Ming spamming abilities from the backline. Even with Netherwind, you can't trade. He needs Flamethrower back, badly, for this Flamestrike build to work and to possibly counter Li-Ming as she is. May as well throw Ignite on that wishlist while I'm at it.

I just can't play KT solo queue anymore. He's the only hero I've leveled to 20 but until he gets yet another talent pass or Li-Ming gets bodied with the nerf bat, I'm just shelving the hero. There's just no point in playing as KT or Jaina if Li-Ming is an option.

So how viable is Illidan now if you don't have a healer? I'd like to play him more in QM.

Much more viable. He still requires more skill than just about any other hero, but he has more HP and self sustain, making him a little bit more difficult to take down. He also does a boatload of damage now, considerably more than before.

The problem isn't Kael'Thas or Jaina, the problem is Li-Ming. You can't give a mage infinite mobility, the most damage in the game, and all the other dumb shit she has. She's extremely unbalanced.

KT and Jaina have insane damage and control, at the expense of mobility. Li Ming has everything, and the most of everything. They'll smack her with the hardest nerf bat we've ever seen at some point in the future... until then we'll just keep on banning.

Illidan is squishier and worse w/o a support now than he was before but play him anyway he's fun. He's also better w/ correct supports now so have fun w/ that
