The guy is bad at casting, I remember listening to him w/ Gillyweed (when she sucked too and would stumble through sentences while screaming the entire game). I actually had to mute the games.

I'm kinda excited about this. Whether you want to blame him for the demise of Tempo or not (I don't), scene was no doubt more fun with him in it.
I don't blame him for Tempo, especially not after watching Kaeyoh being pissed off once, but you shouldn't manage people you consider close friends outside of work.

shit I'm gonna get that genji skin and i don't even play Overwatch anymore. Dope.

I took Dehaka from lvl 6 to lvl 9 over the last couple of days. He's so fun and situationally powerful, but it sure does suck playing him on a team with no follow-up and/or feeders. You are so worthless when your team sucks.

That was the worst night of HOTS we've had in a while. Either outcomped or outplayed every game. Threw two of them. Went 1-7. Feels awful man.

Um, are they really going to launch Varian with that level 4 talent that gives him a 1 second duration, auto hitting stun on a 6 second cooldown?

You guys see Chu8 is doing HGC? Wonder who he's going to be playing with...

That feel when you do a co-op vs. ai and an AI gets mvp

Glau apparently was trying out with him.

I had a feeling that might be the idea. Glau melee ass, chu8 ranged carry, Rawrior tank?, idk who else is out there that is any good though.

Just had a real depressing unranked game. A full party with 2 master players, versus my team that consisted of Azmodan, Abathur, Dehaka, Auriel (me), and a Raynor. Aba and Dehaka both silenced players, we lost the first tribute and the Dehaka rage quit.

Yay!

I love it when AI goes sideways, since it's so rare.

Yeah, AI games that completely fall apart are some of my favorites because it's fun to see how broken the game can get with no real consequences (like one I had a few days ago where I had the most healing on a team w/ Malfurion, and I was playing ***ETC***). "OK, our Nova player is high as a kite and is spamming "smoke weed errday" into chat, our Valla is just doing figure 8s around our own keep, so it's just me, a Murky, and an Abathur. LET'S DO THIS."

I do also miss back in the beta when once in a blue moon it felt like they randomly swapped in some other AI profile and you just got completely wrecked. Like they were testing "nightmare mode" behind the scenes on a random schedule or something.

Varian's Taunt cooldown reduced from PTR, going from 25 to 16 seconds. He still doesn't have escapes, but between that and his talented charge, that's a lot of peel and disruption.

Oh i didnt realize the stealth reveal stuff was changed to only show them during the reveal duration instead of decloaking them

Rip battered assault (still in the running for one of the worst talent names)

Also yeh they are just gonna release zera onto live with no changes lol

Is there any way to hide your real name when you send an invite? Like for example the "recruit a friend" thing, it shows "My Name wants to play
Heroes of the Storm with you!".

I've already disabled show Real ID in the settings.

Gotta say I thought Varian would be boring af but he's probably one of the most enjoyable warriors for me. Love the variety of builds. They nailed the feel of a WoW tank imo.

Varian is fucking fun. His tank build is just DoA though. Until they nerf the fuck out of Warbringer (which shouldn't have made it past PTR), it will never be a thing.

Warbinger is just stupid. Honest to god, spottable a million miles away, stupid. You take it even in the tank builds. What on earth made them think a 1 second stun on a 6 second cooldown that can't miss was a good idea? even as a microstun it would be too good, but as a full 1 second stun it's stupid.

Hmm, as someone who hasn't played since Tracer got released, how have the new heroes fit into things? Curious how many of them are seen as meaningful additions that see regular play. My following thoughts are based purely on a cursory look at abilities and talents and not actually playing them.

Chromie - Glass cannon hero that is reliant on good vision and extremely careful positioning. Ultimates seem low impact to offset power of main abilities (Temporal Loop only working on enemies is lame). Probably performs much better in lower-skill games where players don't punish mistakes or focus fire as much.

Medivh - Seems to be a zone control specialist, high skillcap and teamwork required to use effectively due to portals/raven. Probably not worth the effort or tradeoffs in most games but could be really good niche pick on certain maps. Polymorph seems too avoidable but Ley Line Seal could be a good twist on Void Prison.

Gul'dan - Looks like a good sustained damage assassin that requires a strong front line or peelers to prevent being dove on since he's going to run lower on health most of the time due to his lifetap mechanic. Strong positioning required to compensate for low mobility and reliant on good team composition. Rain of Chaos seems too random to be useful and Horrify may not be controllable enough to have good offensive strength.

Auriel - I like that Blizzard is experimenting with alternative or experimental mana systems but I just don't see that being a good system for a squishy healer when it's based on damage done, even if you have the trait/ally buff to compensate. Seems to require way too much coordination to be useful and probably works best in a duo-heal setup. Aegis seems really bad; Medivh's basic ability does the same thing just without the damage. Resurrect seems great in concept but probably fails in practice. You want to prevent deaths entirely, not try to make up for them after they happen.

Alarak - Melee hero without much mobility, same problem that Artanis has. I assume his trait gives him some much needed burst to compensate, but you're ultimately still reliant on your low-cooldown charge ultimate just to get in. Telekinesis seems hard to use but potentially very powerful, could make him seem bad or good depending on the player. Counterstrike abilities are always bad because they rely on other players making a mistake, not surprised they let him have both ultimates at 20.

Zarya - If you have Black Hole for your ultimate you have to be good right? Energy as a bonus and not a mechanic for using spells is good (unlike Auriel). Hard to judge if she's worth the warrior/tank slot since her offense is dependent on the enemy screwing up (similar mechanical problem to Counterstrike). On the other hand, preventing damage entirely is always really strong, but if people kill her last like they do with Artanis she may lack impact. Could be a niche pick like Tassadar.

Samuro - An Illidan-style ability hero but with very passive abilities/mobility. No burst damage and ultimates are lackluster, however, direct image control is very strong in the hands of skilled player for the vision alone (do images gain XP like Lost Vikings?). He may be able to stick on heroes but being auto-attack reliant means difficulty in finishing kills and surviving the dive. Perhaps better used for split tactics and causing confusion, absorbing consumable attacks, etc.

Varian - Base Kit doesn't seem great but his talents are amazing
ly OP
. Turns charge into stun instead of slow and reduce the CD by over 50%, gives him great sustain through damage or burst heal, 12 second AOE buffs, Mortal Strike debuff (-40% heals), Shield Breaker, can debuff enemy damage or buff healing at 20. Way too much utility in my opinion. In fact I imagine most people will not go tank spec because you pass up on so much damage and lockdown. Fury Spec literally gives you a better version of Samuro's trait for free (30% vs 25%) and makes your trait into a better version of Critical Strikes (a basic ability). Why would anyone play Samuro when you can play Varian who has objectively better versions of his kit?

Auriel is amazing, and I use her as my main solo healer whenever I can to great effect. The ally trait thing definitely works, and if paired with the right hero her late game healing is off the charts - ancestral every 8 seconds or so. Aegis is a different ability to prevent, and they have strengths and weaknesses.

I think she's the third highest win rate hero in the game right now or something - she's definitely one of their best designed heroes this year, and I absolutely love her.

Wow that's crazy, I would have totally guessed the opposite just based on reading her information. I guess the problem is I have no sense of how fast you can rack up energy just based off the text. But if you can end up reliably generating energy quickly I can see how the only limit to your healing potential would be the cooldown.

Third highest win rate healer, sorry. But yeah, energy accumulates very very fast especially with heroes that have AE or lots of sustained damage. Lunara or Guldan are redonculous with her.

In terms of the other heroes, I'd say Alarak is very different to what you think. He uses telekinesis to pull people into him, where the then silences them and punishes them hard. Counterattack is quite nice simply because it's one second of invulnerable, and very very hard to not have it go off in the heat of battle even at the very highest level - any damage at all will trigger it.

Re Samuro, he has ridiculous burst. 3 images plus his crit means he can destroy people really fast then get away.

For Varian I mainly went:

Q quest, stun, aa heal, vuln, situational, e damage, demoralizing shout

Not sure if that will be standard, but outside of a few tiers he really doesn't feel he has much diversity. That's only 4 games so ymmv
