I doubt that news. The bundling of 300 with every 3rd Gen Toshiba (which, btw, is a different sku from the original retail version)
This point doesn't mean a thing. Paramount had
final copies of Blades of Glory on Blu-ray, and then the switch happened and they basically ate those copies. The deal for 300 was probably made some time ago, and if this Warner "news" ends up being true, the switch was probably finalized long after the 300 / Toshiba deal was made.
their heavy presence on XBLA for the 300 HD DVD promotion, the heavy pimping on the official HD DVD site, etc.
These also mean nothing. Of course they're going to pimp 300 on the XBLA - it's a title perfectly geared towards the typical Xbox 360 owner, and it helps to sell Xbox 360 HD-DVD players.
As for site pimping, why wouldn't you pimp out every company that you can when you're considered the underdog? Unless you mean that Warner Bros. is being pimped far more than any other company, and even then, again, this deal may have been made very recently. Again, look at Paramount, look at their upcoming list of Blu-ray releases, and look how they ALL were pulled in like a moment's notice.
I won't believe this is real until I see it, but not at all for the reasons you gave.
