How many people on forums will we fall for before we stop doing it.

last month it was WB going HDDVD exclusive..

this month BRD exclusive.

In May Uni was going BRD.

It may happen at some point, but what part of.. "We are going to announce we are exclusive in September, but keep releasing new movies until December" makes sense?

Rumors of Megatons never come true. True Megatons just happen one day.

You forgot LOTR:EE being BRD exclusive with HD-DVD only getting the theatrical cuts to make up for Matrix.

Why would they announce on AOTS out of all places? :lol

Obviously they would also have a press release.

However, as far as TV goes ... where else would they do it? There isn't an electronics show going on that is getting general press, and I can't think of any other shows that regularly include electronics/industry discussions.

Again, I think this is BS ... but AOTS is a viable candidate if something like this were to occur.

This may have already been posted, but I could not find it on AVS.

Beginning in January 2008, the HD-DVD Combo will be discontinued by Warner Home Video for the Theatrical New Release Business Unit. Warner will be offering the HD version only.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be the last title we are offering the HD-DVD Combo for. The Invasion will be the first HD only title on the TNR release slate.

Seasoned rice, baked chicken, and macaroni with cheese.

And lol at onyx still trying to give the rumor life by hanging on to the AOTS thing as a serious viable outlet for this news. Yeah, I remember how Paramount went to G4 to announce their move to HD DVD only. :lol

I'm prepared to eat crow for dinner if the AOTS thing pans out. That would be the most absurd announcement venue for a movie studio..............EVER.

Boooooooooom! MEGATON!

Now one wonders if that poster was an idiot who misunderstood something he overheard, or deliberately baiting the Interwebs.

I thought WB was going to stop producing DVDs even though there are no definitive winner on this war yet. That would have been stupid considering that HD-DVD / Blu-ray sales doesn't represent more than 10% than DVDs if not less...

First tragedy, then farce.

NBC Universal and WB staying tight...........yeah that can't be the Blu Ray megaton. Keep looking.

dont read too much into this stuff... this war isnt be all end all for these companies.

Heck, Toshiba and Sony are partners in Cell development.

Disney is on XBLM but Universal is not.

These companies entire existence isnt centered on this format war.

VanMardigan

has calmed down a bit.
NBC was originally on XBLA, but I'm not sure what happened. I think they're working on their own downloadable model. And yeah, I know that these companies all interact on multiple levels, the format war being just a small one at this point.

The founder of blu-meanies that asks if people wants to buy a bunch of Blu-ray discs on Amazon in the hope that it will makes Blu-ray win over HD-DVD for december or something... o_O

The dice game in PotC:DMC made me remeber why I hate FMV games.

Ok.....onix.........you think this is bs but you kept insisting that AOTS would be a viable venue for Warner Brothers entertainment to announce Blu Ray exclusivity starting in January. :lol

Doesn't make sense.

Van ... sometimes, you really scare me.

This isn't rocket science. Someone said why in the hell would such an announcement happen on AOTS.

My response was to say if Warner were to go BD-only today ... which I do NOT think is going to happen ... that show would be as good as any if they decided to have an interview on TV. There really aren't many other TV shows that would make sense.

Odd to be arguing about something that seems obviously false, but AOTS isn't taken seriously even by gaming and tech enthusiasts. So it wouldn't really be "good as any" other TV show.

I would think that any announcement of this magnitude would be done on CNN or some other news agency either by special report or through their respective tech shows.

I would take it to be a marketing decision. Obviously it would end up on all tech shows as well ... I'm just saying its possible a show like that could get the initial push due to its demographic.

Interesting pre-friday neilson number news:

http://www.homemediamagazine.com/news/html/breaking_article.cfm?sec_id=2&&article_ID=11268

On the high-definition disc charts, the long reign of Warner’s 300 atop both the Blu-ray Disc and the HD DVD charts came to an end, with a pair of hot new releases, both from Warner, storming to the top. On Blu-ray, it was the director’s cut of Troy; on the HD DVD chart, it was We Are Marshall.

So I guess for BD it's:
Troy
We Are Marshall
300
Planet Earth?

For HD DVD:
We Are Marshall
300?

Since I couldn't get that 20% off Meijer deal on the PS3, I'm looking into getting the HD-DVD add-on for the 360. Is it as good as the standalone units? Is there anything coming down the line next year that will make it obsolete (I remember seeing some kind of different version being talked about a little while ago)?

Does anyone know if there are any deals that go along with it? Free movies or anything?

Thanks :D

Also, if my 360 has HDMI can I get the HD-DVD player to display in 1080p?
