I sometimes think I'm the only person in the fucking world that truly, honestly doesn't care which one "wins." Neither does Joe Sixpack or Jane Soccermom, they just want their Sopranos in 1080 i/p.
I'll be watching this link at 10AM Pacific...SA0CD said:Hello folks.
I cannot believe this thread has hit 60 pages. I tried to answer every PM that you guys sent me yesterday and I'm trying to read the topic and answer any questions you guys might have which is hard considering the amount of posts.
I'm glad to say things are on order and announcement is indeed due 10AM Pacific Time.
For now let me try to address few questions :
-As for Nickerson leaving Warner, I have head few stories but I'm not really sure if they are correct. Some say he was leaving because he wanted to, some day after Paramount announcement a change was inevitable (Warner being last dual format supporter) and Nickerson didn't have any plans. So nothing specific that I have here share with you.
-As for Warner not waiting till 2008 to announce exclusivity, the answer is simple. Here's what I have heard :
"The initial plan was to get Warner exclusive on Blu-ray and declare the news in 2008. the deal was reached last month. However considering the upcoming hollidays, BDA pressured Warner to make the announcement in Q4 so they can sell more units. Also there will be a coupon in Harry Potter set (take this with a grain of salt) that will give customers 100$ off on a Blu-ray player (Probably Panasonic). What BDA didn't succeed in was to prevent Warner from releasing HD DVDs till the end of 2007 which is not shocking considering the contract Warner has with Toshiba and the backlash Paramount caused by stopping their support so sudden. So Warner chose to be smart here.
Guys less than 4 hours is left till the announcement. For those who have doubt me, you are going to enjoy the news even more since you didn't expect it. For others, I'm happy that you guys wont be disppointed.
or...? the suspense is killing me!jjasper said:If that guy really did answer all the PMs which I am guessing were in the hundreds as well as all the stuff in the thread itself all because he made something up I gotta give him credit for either being the biggest dork in the world.

so two more hours until this "happens". will be interesting, to say the least. besides, I'm still waiting on Batman Begins, The Matrix, and V For Vendetta; hope they're part of the "announcement".

I would LAUGH my ASS OFF. Literally... The best way to say FUCK YOU to all those Blu-ray fans (myself included) would be to do such a thing on a Blu-ray dedicated website and calling itself SA0CD (SACD, that unpopular surround sound audio format shared by Sony and Philips)... :lolmabuza said:why do i get this feeling the announcement will be warner going HD dvd instead. and that guy knows it.

Bluray.com is going to retaliate against AVS.:lol

Yes.chubigans said:I'm not a PC tech guy, but this (referring to the insider's post):
According to the forum administrators, the source computer is different from any of the other members and appears to be located at a public library.
...sounds like BS. Can someone actually know that from an IP address?

sure. one sold on ebay for over $400, though you can't find it on the "completed items search" for some reason.Midas said:Really? Is it possible to get your hands on a copy?
