Don't get penisy people. All this commotion over a guy on a message board with a postcount of 1.

True or not this stupid war is going to continue for a while longer thanks to the Paramount exclusivity. A lot of people were easy to pass on HD DVD calling it the "Unversal Studios Player" but now they've got a couple big notches on their belt this year (Transformers & to a lesser extent Shrek). I would have rather that this war eneded with HD DVD only having Bourne exclusive for '07. That would have sealed up this war by CES '08.

"The initial plan was to get Warner exclusive on Blu-ray and declare the news in 2008. the deal was reached last month. However considering the upcoming hollidays, BDA pressured Warner to make the announcement in Q4 so they can sell more units. Also there will be a coupon in Harry Potter set (take this with a grain of salt) that will give customers 100$ off on a Blu-ray player (Probably Panasonic). What BDA didn't succeed in was to prevent Warner from releasing HD DVDs till the end of 2007 which is not shocking considering the contract Warner has with Toshiba and the backlash Paramount caused by stopping their support so sudden. So Warner chose to be smart here.

Guys less than 4 hours is left till the announcement. For those who have doubt me, you are going to enjoy the news even more since you didn't expect it. For others, I'm happy that you guys wont be disppointed.

If that guy really did answer all the PMs which I am guessing were in the hundreds as well as all the stuff in the thread itself all because he made something up I gotta give him credit for either being the biggest dork in the world.

so two more hours until this "happens". will be interesting, to say the least. besides, I'm still waiting on Batman Begins, The Matrix, and V For Vendetta; hope they're part of the "announcement".

Yeah, the fate of those movies is the best I hope for from all of this. Even if true, whenever one side of this stupid war has some sort of definitive gain, this thread goes to hell. Unless it reallt ends the war, it's not worth it.

I'll laugh either way, and go buy a movie in the "winning" format just for the sake of celebrating something new in this crazy war.

I would LAUGH my ASS OFF. Literally... The best way to say FUCK YOU to all those Blu-ray fans (myself included) would be to do such a thing on a Blu-ray dedicated website and calling itself SA0CD (SACD, that unpopular surround sound audio format shared by Sony and Philips)... :lol

That's just cruel!

If Warner goes HD-DVD, I'm not sure what I'll do. WB films are among my most-missing (Batman, V) and I would like Univeral movies-- but the idea of running two separate players irks the hell out of me.

According to the forum administrators, the source computer is different from any of the other members and appears to be located at a public library.

...sounds like BS. Can someone actually know that from an IP address?

I think the thread title should be changed at least temporarily to Everybody suicide watch till this comes to pass one way or another.
If they do go blu ray I'll definitely be picking up a combo player this holiday season instead of that Tosh 3rd gen player.

While it may have never caught on with the mainstream ... it was, and continues to be the most popular high-res/surround audio format.

last month it was WB going HDDVD exclusive..

this month BRD exclusive.

In May Uni was going BRD.

It may happen at some point, but what part of.. "We are going to announce we are exclusive in September, but keep releasing new movies until December" makes sense?

Rumors of Megatons never come true. True Megatons just happen one day.
