Not that I would say anything looks odd but only three posts ever in this thread and these are:

1) Amazon.com and Walmart.com have an incredible offer going where you buy an Xbox 360 HD-DVD player and get the Heroes Season 1 HD Box Set + 5 free HD-DVDs (plus, of course, it still comes with King Kong HD-DVD) for 179.

check it:
http://www.xbox.com:80/en-US/hardwar...now/offers.htm

2) wow. they're selling HD-DVD players for a dollar more at Best Buy = $99.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1158323325814

92% of customers would recommend this product to a friend (44 of 48).

3) "Warner Lets Their Bluray License Expire?!

Reports are circulating that Warner Brothers' Bluray license expired last night, October 31st, and that they have not renewed it! This would be a very clear signal that they may not continue support of Bluray releases. No confirmation is yet forthcoming, but speculation is rife that an official decision may be forthcoming from Warner before the end of the year. It is said that Warner is very interested in seeing the sales of HD DVD players at their new price points starting at $198 at various retailers such as Circuit City, Walmart, Best Buy and many more. Tomorrow, Walmart also runs a half-day sale on Toshiba A2 players at an incredible $99!"

I'm gonna pick up Cars too. Anybody know when Incredibles, Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc are coming to Blu ray?

Nemo fall of next year, others not yet announced (though I'd bet we'd get Monsters sooner than we think, or a Bugs Life).

I have heard alot of talk about National Treasure coming with the release of National Treasure 2 on BR in March or April. ( not that it is a big movie )

I know it will be one of the odder things ever listed in here, but I find myself wishing that Sony would put out some of the Cirque De Soleil dvds on BD

Some interesting movies are coming out for the format that are yet to appear on HD/BD (most of them are for next year). I really wonder how the PQ stacks up against HD DVD and Blu-ray.

yea, considering they have a contract with Bollywood :lol

I think once the big HD formats approach the price of DVD (software and hardware), this VMD will be out as quickly as it came in, largely due to lack of major studio support.

interestingly, i only learned of this post from another site talking about a vm in here who has gone on for over 50 pages arguing in blu-ray's defense. my three posts were strickly retaliation against this greedy person, who is only posting here because he gets paid by the post

That's a good deal...if you like Heroes. I only watch the show out of habit now. When it first aired, I thought, "Wowzors, what a kickass show!!" Now I realize it's fairly mediocre. I'm not picking on Heroes just because it's an HD-DVD promotion; I would not go nuts over almost any HD TV series pack-in. IMO, it's a waste of money to get 99% of the TV shows on DVD or HD format. If it was something like Band of Brothers packed in and I hadn't jumped into the HD war yet, then I would definitely sign up for that deal.

oh BTW, for the enthusiasts, HD-VMD doesn't have Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound. It supports up to 7.1 I think the PQ shoud be equal to BD and HD-DVD.

Alrighty. So after getting my HD toes wet with Transformers (purely for image quality) and King Kong (since it was a pack-in), I finally purchased and watched my first HD DVD that I actually, you know, wanted to own, A Clockwork Orange. I was a bit worried going in, because I have read several reviews claiming that the transfer isn't great, and that The Shining and 2001 both have vastly superior transfers. Well, I can't speak to those transfers yet, but I thought A Clockwork Orange, aside from a few small flaws, looked absolutely fantastic on the whole. I was really pleasantly surprised. This is easily the best that the film has ever looked. The movie itself seems to just get better and more relevant as time passes. Such an amazing work, and Malcolm McDowell is simply incredible. A Clockwork Orange HD, how I love thee.

Next up: the rest of the HD DVD Kubrick movies, duh!

1069 posts times $50 a pop = $53, 450. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnn :lol

Unfortunately, like mousey, I do much more movie viewing than actual game playing nowadays, and all my free time is shrinking anyway, so I mostly post here from work.

I did finish Halo 3 and passed another mission in Lost Planet, though, so all is not lost.

That Heroes 360 skin looks sick. How many are available in the competiton?
it says 3 a day for 31 days but it doesn't say which 31 days. The other thing that's weird is the winners list has 13 people on it.

I'm hoping that when I graduate in a few weeks I'll have more free time for movies and games as I'll have less of this God-forsaken thing called "homework". I still haven't had a chance to watch Weeds yet and I got that about 2-3 weeks ago. :(

Shit is about to get nasty.

And those of you with hundreds (over a thousand!?) posts in this thread really need to re-evaluate your lives. Hans is small time compared to that.

So you accuse someone else of being a viral marketer and then respond by doing it yourself...great stuff.

A) We do not need people to bring grudges or other bullshit from other boards to this one. There is a reason other boards are intolerable crap.

B) People in here are generally smart enough to deal with things on their own, people are pretty hardcore with their ignore list on here.

C) See A & B

We have shills from both sides and they are dealt with.
We have people who come in and do the link thing all of the time but they also at least take part in the conversations and can have decent discussions on both sides.

Says mr 14.5 posts per day!

I barely post elsewhere, so a lot of posts here isn't exactly making me "re-evaluate" anything.

The closest thing we have to evidence of viral marketing to date isn't even here, it's a guy who gets quoted/linked occassionally (and a lot less often since he was outed): Rob Enderle. Then there's some suggestion that another off-site source, Bill Hunt, is paid, although certain actions of his (panicking and presuming a WB defection months agO) don't make sense in that context.

I think people better put up or shut up with those kinds of accusations!

After the Kubrick Survivor, and the releases, I've been thinking about re-watching some of the Kubricks that I didn't like so much the first time-- CO, FMJ, EWS. I disliked all three, but they were compelling, and at least two of those I saw 20+ years ago, one time.

I had seen ACO several times, but not in at least 5 years before getting it on HD. I had always thought of it as a middle of the road to a lesser Kubrick. But after my recent viewing, I actually feel like I would put it just below 2001, in the #2 slot. Its brilliance finally clicked with me.

Strangelove is actually #4 to me, behind 2001, the newly movin' on up ACO, and Barry Lyndon. All 4 are excellent. Kubrick never made a bad film. Hell, he never made one I would call less than very good. If Sergio Leone never existed, Kubrick would be my favorite director.

what's so good about cars? I couldn't watch more than 10 minutes. The jokes were incredibly lame, and knowing that Owen Wilson is the lead voice kinda ruins it for me.
