Jesus, I have such shitty luck. I go to Suncoast Movies and they have Bladerunner in stock. The guy in front of me buys the Ultimate version for Blu, and I ask for the Collector's Edition in Blu, and while I'm being rung up, the assistant manager comes out of the back screaming about the street date.

Guess what I didn't get to buy?

Yeah, not even if you blew Santa AND his reindeer.

Am I understanding correctly when I see that the add on sale is one day only?

How does that even make sense? Why would I do that? Your insults are getting more retarded with each passing page.

And yeah, apparently that sale is one day only.

Guess what I didn't get to buy?

It wasn't meant to be.

I bet when you finally get it it will have HD-DVD discs instead of Blu-Ray in the case.

Let me spell it out...

Van: " I meant in hd-dvd's favor ha ha ha"
OokiethegodofallthathesurveysandallandallsupremebeingSpookie : "Not even if you blew Santa AND all of his reindeer"

Translation : Even if you blew Santa and all of his reindeer the numbers would still not be in hd-dvds favor.

Better?

60/40 Blu-ray. If Transformers and Shrek can't do it, The Bourne Ultimatum has no chance. It won't be the embarrassing win that Blu-ray has been getting more and more frequently, I don't think, but it will still be commanding.

Yeah but amazons were far better this week. BoGo and $50 dollar bourne set.
Yeah, and DVD Empire doesn't count Amazon's sales, as it says directly below the chart:

"* percentage of our overall Hi Def items sold by format"

Thats just based off of DVD empires numbers hence the SMALL sample! Geez. We are arguing statistics people.

Just don't get your hopes up based on that.

Ookie, what do you mean by "by the book" source, and why would you disagree with them if they know something?

It was sunday when I got what I got, and the numbers are always still be gone over until today or even tomorrow.
Mainly just being hopeful though.

Yeah, and they had the ratio as 2:1 instead of 3:1 last week, too. Looks like they skew HD-DVD.
dvdempire has numbers in favor of hd week after week after week after week.
Many sites have them banned much like gaf bans sites.

:lol :lol

What? On that very link, they show every single other week as being comfortably BRD. They're a store, not a fan site.

Wait until later this week and you will see it change to favor blu again.l
This happens every week.
Doubt me?
I couldn't care less.

Yeah, I was holding off on buying Bourne: Ult until after the holidays but this was too good to pass up so I ended up getting that with Shrek 3. Good deal.

Finally got a chance to see Bourne Ultimatum (missed it at the movies). Wow, awesome flick. :D

this is way OT but do you post on DVDfile/forums at all?

Since no one picked up on the sarcasm, my prediction was 58/42 Blu. No way HD DVD wins a week this year. It would be fun, though, if only to see spookie have an aneurysm.

Bourne and BOGO would've been enough to pull it 52/48 or so (still Blu), but the Blu BOGO and the strong sales of Ps3 I think more than cancel out what will likely be the best HD DVD week since Transformers. I can't see the numbers getting any closer than 55/45 with the massive installed hardware lead that Blu has.

Amazon still hasn't shipped my Blade Runner. I should probably cancel at this point and take my chances in the stores. It shouldn't be a hard to find item.

strong sales of Ps3

While I don't think you can call sales "strong" from a gaming standpoint, there do seem to be a significant number of people buying 40gigs for dedicated BRD use. It will be interesting to see if this continues as standalones begin to undercut its price in a significant way.

I think you can call it strong, or at least solid, from a gaming standpoint in Europe and Japan, which I think a lot of us tend to ignore...the rest of the global picture.

Blu-Ray is even stronger globally than it is domestically in the US, and I have to believe that studios take notice of this fact (hopefully Warner).

I haven't bought a single game on Ps3 (though I will get Uncharted and Ratchet once they come down in price). I still only have Motorstorm and I'm buying the third party games on Xbox 360. Yet I have 8 BD movies already and have a bunch more on my Netflix queue. It's definitely a Blu Ray player for me, though I know I'm in the minority in that aspect.

Going by your avatar, I imagine you'll be getting MGS4? :D

Even moreso than game sales, home video sales in other territories are dwarfed by US sales, and their impact on US studios' investment decisions is further limited by the complexity of international distribution rights.

Off-topic.

Van, I have barely bought any games myself, but you should check out the PSN store. Most of my game-time has been spent playing the downloadables. Especially good: Super Stardust HD. Plays very, very differently from Geometry Wars while being about as intense. Also Gripshift, but the XBLA version is out and has improvements. Buy it on XBLA, it's fantastic.

Actually, Europe is the largest market, not North America. Both in game sales and movie sales. The US doesn't dwarf the Japanese market either, it's just larger.
