The review scores are 100% because this game is not a woke or correct game. It's a game that would've scored a whole lot higher a couple of years ago.

Me and my girlfriend have different tastes of humor and she usually doesn't pay attention when I am playing shooters, but this game has her (and myself) invested. The humor is absolutely fantastic. The game feels crisp overall. I don't agree about it feeling like a triple A game. The graphics are great, the gameplay and animations aren't as tight as you'd expect from a triple A release but they don't detract from the experience either.

A solid 8/10 to me thus far. A 67 on metacritic is absolutely criminal.

I completely agree, solid ass 8/10 game. It's not perfect but its brilliant at what it targets to do and that's all I can ask for.

Really impressed with what the team at Squanch have delivered. Props to them. Will go down as a classic comedy game imo.

Sacrilege its reviewed low.

If the bad reviews are linked to the poor performance and bugs pre-patch then it’s fair, it’s the devs’ responsibility to give something acceptable for reviews.

I only played the game after the patch and to me it runs flawlessly (on SX). I think the only flaw is the enemy variety and the somewhat simple gunplay but otherwise it’s really solid.

The MC discrepancy between the PC and Xbox versions of this is absolutely insane. 72 vs 59. I'm wondering if there are some big technical issues with it on Series X/S consoles dragging down the score. Or hey, maybe just an unfortunate mix of reviewers for the console version.
At the momente the 2 scores are a little more homogeneous : 67 vs 62. Anyway the discrepancy is easy to explain considering that there are only like 12 reviews for every versions of the game, so a couple of critics loving / panning the game are enough for vastly change the scores

review aggregate doesn’t apply here, make your own decision.
the game is criminally overlooked.
there are like only around 10 reviews.
it would probably land around 75+ if there would be enough of a sample size.

Metacritic has messed something up, it's tallying different reviews on different platforms, don't pay attention to it. However, Open Critic is doing it properly, with 31 reviews currently, it's sitting on a 69.

I don't know anymore, I have been reading the reviews and there seems to be a lot of "it's just a generic shooter with some humor", which is a terrible take.

The humor is a lot more ingrained than the critics give it credit for, every little thing about the game is drenched in style, and the shooting, while a bit "sloppy" perhaps with the wild guns and big dumb enemies, is a lot better than is given due. The enemies in particular are great, the way they splatter and explode is very satisfying. It's a little bit more than just some by-the-numbers action, it works well.

Just finished the game and now I have absolutely no idea what to do with my life.

Honestly, it’s such a refreshing game. Humour which isn’t constrained, fun gameplay, a good length with no padded bullshit so it overstays its welcome. It’s a shame games like this are so rare these days.

This game is literally like the anti version of modern day gaming. Sure it's not perfect but it's decent mechanics, good fun, great humour...not Woke 2022 bullshit.

Reminds me of something like Metal Arms:GITS with crazy fun jokes.

I have no idea how people can complete this one in 10-12 hours unless you don't explore or give a fuck about finding everything.

I'm probably like 6-7 hours in on hard and i didn't even beaten the third boss yet, levels are bigger than expected.

Try the south park rpgs, basically the only comedy games as good as this one.

I liked the second one a bit more.

I think part of it is how easy the game is on normal difficulty. Besides one boss I can’t even think of anything else in the game which was even close to being a little tricky. I definitely died under 10 times in my whole run through combined.

I'm playing on hard and yeah the game is not exactly hard at all, maybe 1-2 deaths on a boss before getting how he work and maybe 1-2 deaths before when you are super aggressive against a big group of enemies.

Not completely mindless but yeah, the game being easy is one of the biggest flaws.

Still, i try to find everything to buy all the upgrades and listen to all the optional banters so it probably gonna last no less than 20-25 hours to me.

I’m a sucker for Justin Roilandx, but man, my PC sucks. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that an 8 year old PC struggles, huh? It’s fun but ugh, my eyes are bleeding.

Any idea how long the exclusivity is for Xbox?

There are definitely some massive performance issues with this game that's not because of the PC you're running on.

If it is a timed exclusive then probably 6 months. Sometimes it is 3 months with games that come on xbox first, sometimes a year, but mostly 6 months like it was with, for example, The Ascent.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Hmm, why cant i dash on the X?

It say's B but it doesnt do anything... wtf. Am i missing something?

Normal sprint is L3

For the Vanquish style rocket dash you need to buy the mod in store. The store becomes available an hour or so into the game.

No one is talking. Usually these things are a year. You can always play the cloud streaming version in the meantime.

Ive got them both - looks like a BUG tho. If you remap dodge for the keyboard controls on the X, it messes up the dodge (B) on controller.

Reset it back to default and everything works....Weird.

How is Accounting+ compared to the original Accounting? I played it forever ago when it first came out but it was more of an "experience" than a game. Does + add enough to warrant playing again?
I would say it's about twice the size in length but it is definitely more of the same style of play.
There is a space station level where you have to revisit it multiple times because the instructions are given in such a drawn out way that you can't figure out the solution on a first attempt.
Honestly one of the funniest parts of the whole thing IMO.
Worth picking up on Quest if you have it, I find it to be a fantastic first VR experience for guests.

For people with an AMD card, add this line to the engine.ini file.

r.HZBOcclusion=1

I got a 7% performance increase. It's not much, but it's nice to have.
If you have an NVidia card, leave it at "0"

Has nothing to do with wokeness. This woke card is overused. The game got a couple of really low scores which I think are totally unjustified, but reading the reviews those guys just didn't think the game is funny. That has nothing to do with wokeness.

Guess I'll be the asshole in here. I don't think it's impossible at all that a crass humor game filled with politically incorrect humor, with a joke about murdering your ex-wife, and a feminist joke in the first 3 hours would be excessively marked down by gaming journalists that typically make it a point to trash games like that unfairly.

There's just no other way for me to actually explain the huge discrepancy in scores. Even taking into account that this kind of humor will not be for everyone and the game will be inherently divisive as comedy is more subjective than most things, I think most professional reviewers would be able to acknowledge the average to above average graphics, gameplay, writing, and wealth of easter eggs and additional skits that are all well done.

And furthermore, there's zero reason to trust the bulk of reviewers when Harry Potter hits next year. They absolutely, 100% take political activism into account with their reviews - whether you want to bury your head in the sand and ignore that or not. Call it woke, call it activism, call it political correctness, I don't care. The point is they explicitly let their personal ideology influence their scores all the time, because they literally see their scores as activism and try to influence which games get rewarded and which games get punished for not advancing their ideological goals.

Turn down shadows, effects and mesh, i heard they are the heaviest settings, see if it can help.

On my part i only have shader compile stuff but perf are good at 1440p, what make my eues bleed is the aggressive chromatic aberration (but you can solve that)

To be fair, what people find funny is massively subjective. So in my opinion success at comedy in a videogame isn't likely to result in any sort of consensus.

Which is fine because, and I've said this many times, I like stuff that's a bit divisive because it means it was targeted at a certain audience. Not the "mass market" as defined by marketing and focus group research.

I don't buy the idea that the magic formula that's going to please everyone is a goal worth striving for in art or entertainment. Its just playing it ultra-safe, there's no risk and greater reward on the table.

My suggestion would be to stop giving a fuck about what a reviewer thinks.

I'm playing the game just fine. Just pointing out what happens with the scores sometimes. There's downstream effects on prestige, awards, tons of arguments about metacritic averages, sales numbers and the success of an IP, and all kinds of dumb stuff. But I play what I want and try to make my own opinions. But pretending that there's zero effect from metacritic isn't really reality either.

Agreed. It's why movies that end up in the 90s on Rotten Tomatoes almost always end up being pretty bland. It's near impossible to be able to make something exceptional that also pleases everyone.

This game is not comparable to the nonsense surrounding Harry Potter which isn't really about the game itself, just typical cancel culture bullshit. I'm looking at the reviews and I'm not seeing this being about political stuff at all. There are two review scores that are absurdly low and I think those are junk scores, but they are not due to anything political.

A metacritic score hasn't affected my enjoyment of a game in my 28 years of playing.
High on Life is sitting at number 3 game on gamepass last time I saw, so I do not think it matters for most people anyways.
The back and forth nature of forums like these give a much better idea of what to expect from a game than a one-way review, which, often times is curated to get more clicks and views.
Again, you really only have to care about a review score to even cross the line of wondering if the author is "woke" or not. The gamers in my life do not care about that at all.
Idk man, different strokes I guess.

I wish there was a physical release.
Me too homie, maybe they'll get a limited release sometime down the line.

But then you can't play the metacritic game when console wars season start.

It's the fanboy conundrum.
Ah maybe that's it. I have never understood the console war thing. Games are dope, dunno why people gotta try and make it a competition.
Especially if they're not paying you for it.

It’s not that simple though. Some Dev bonuses sometimes hinge on metacritic scores. Metacritic scores matter more than they should, especially to publishers.

I was not talking dev side, but forum members side, my mistake.

Modern journalism is not something you can trust, especially if you are an experienced player with a brain and eyes, no failed journalist that ends up rushing 50 hours games on normal mode in 3 days is gonna tell me if a game is good or not if it has a good pace or how good the comabt\challenge is, at best i watch reviews for analytical data like average lenght, number of weapons or enemies and sometimes they can't even fucking get that right, utterly useless.

Even the bugs are subjective so they are not even good for that, i played cyberpunk on pc at day one and days gone on ps4 pro at day one and they were both less buggy experiences than your average bethesda\ubisoft open world, BY FAR.

Imagine giving this game a 3 or even a 5.5....sometimes I feel like I'm on another planet compared to modern age game reviewers.

Yes I get comedy is subjective if its nit for you then fine.....but would someone who hates Rick and morty go review a rick and morty film? Maybe they would ....

Big discrepancy for some reason. I think it’s too offensive for a lot of people or something..

Listen, some people will simply not like the style of humor and therefore the entire interesting thing of this game falls away.

I think its hilarious but some folks wont feel that way.

Just like some people will like The Hangover and Dumb & Dumber and others might hate those movies.

You'd see the same divisiveness among the userbase as well then. Obviously not everyone will like it, but I haven't seen a single person in this thread that thinks the game is anything close to a 3 out of 10.

Because people in this thread tried it and enjoyed it. People who watch the trailer or a stream and are turned off, arent even going to bother commenting on it.

I watch Jeff Gerstmann stream it, his crowd wasnt too hot on it.

There is a Gman review on Youtube, where the comments boil down to : the humor seems overbearing and stupid.

The people who wouldnt enjoy it arent part of the userbase because they didnt bother buying or trying it.
