Hillary Clinton to CNN: "I will be the nominee"

Both Candidates would beat Trump. It really doesn't matter, honestly. He has a lot to be attacked with that Hillary hasn't gone after, but I don't think it would be enough for Trump to propel himself over him.

It's just with Bernie, it would likely be closer; and the down ballot effect likely wouldn't be as much in the dems favor. Likely would win the election and not much much ground in congress.

Also I don't think Bernie could win re-election. It would be incredibly difficult for him. I think GOP wins in 2020. Hillary is a better prospect for two terms.

Wait, I want to understand what was going on in the first place.

Like, what data is being compared?

The head to heads are clearly showing Clinton diverging and taking a commanding lead over Sanders over the past month:

http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/2016-national-democratic-primary

So what exactly is being compared here?

Or is it comparing, say, 51-48 Clinton-Trump polls with, say, 55-45 Sanders-Trump polls? Surely it's not the latter, which makes no sense as a comparison?

I can't I just... I...

How many times must this point be made before people fucking understand it?!?!

Bernie has not been put to the fire or scrutiny that Obama was put through in 08 during the primary, or the magnifying glass that Hillary Clinton has been under for over 30 years.

In this fantasy land that Bernie wins the nomination, the next fucking day the Republican Machine spearheaded by goons such as Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, etc will open the fucking Flood gates of the Opposition research that has been done or would have been done.

Hillarys campaign has been fucking kind to this man. They definitely did not go Nuclear as they did back in 08, simply because they never really saw him as a threat.

Oh you sound just like the establishment.
I know how you feel but its like talking into the Mariana Trench, which is about how far Bernie will need to rise up from to win based on mathematics.

I seriously doubt he could. He would inspire apathy among AA voters and Hispanics and be completely open with all the skeletons in his closet. That and he has proven to be terrible under pressure (see NY, NV fallout). He would be terrible in GE.

I still have a hard time picturing any way Trump gets to 270 against anyone the democrats trout out. Someone like Kasich could have probably easily won especially against Sanders, but the demographics make it tough for Trump to win all the necessary swing states and to be honest hold on to traditional republican strong holds

There could be apathy amongst black voters, but no chance with Latinos, given Trump's platform. He has made hating latinos and immigrants part of his platform. They will vote against Trump in record numbers. It won't matter who the Democratic candidate is. Could be O'malley, Chafee, or anyone, honestly.

He isn't a good GE candidate; he loses to Mittens, McCain/ Ryan type republicans, but almost every criticism against Bernie is really moot here because of just how much worse Trump is.

A terrorist attack on the US or one of our allies and Trump rolls out Sanders' history of being a member of a political party which called for dismantling the military. Boom, Trump presidency.

They'll figure it out when they are biting their nails and shitting their pants on election night wondering if Trump won or not while the two are running neck and neck.

His current polling numbers can't figure in the inevitable Republican barrage attacking him for being a self-described socialist who wants to massively raise taxes and praises Fidel Castro and bread lines while saying he doesn't believe in charity.

Anyone who thinks Sanders would walk away with the election against Trump is kidding themselves. There's a reason why Bloomberg dropped the idea of a third party run right around the time it became clear Sanders wasn't getting the nomination.

Bernie would be completely crushed in the GE. As soon as the middle class find out that he wants to raise their taxes it's game over. A liberal forum like GAF had a meltdown when Obama wanted a small gas tax increase to fund public transit and clean energy ( Obama proposes increasing taxes on oil by $10 per barrel).

The amount of people who thinks their taxes are too high has been massive and steady every year since 1957, and the people who think their taxes are too low has never been more than 4% poll

They are not going to care about what you promise to give them in return for the tax increases because people don't trust the government will follow through. Everything is great when the tax increases are just on millionares and billionares, but if it's on you personally than most people suddenly become right wing

Perhaps but I have zero faith in his ability to roll with actual punches being thrown at him. He's run an amateur hour campaign and has shown his inability to handle pressure like with the NV mess.

It was so sad seeing friends posting up positive things Republican's were saying about Bernie, not realizing what an obvious game they were playing. I hope no Nigerian prices email them.

I think a slew of red scare ads would crush Bernie. I mean the guy is on video praising Fidel Castro. Plus Trump would roll him in the debates. Bernie's finger would be wagging like crazy.

If she wins the nomination she won't win the primary. Way too much baggage

So I see people labeling Clinton as the embodiment of all evil. I'm curious as to what she has done to earn that title. When I think of the embodiment of all evil I think of Adolf fucking Hitler and last I checked Clinton has done nothing of the sort of shit that man did.

Nothing. It's just people eating up the Republican smear propaganda that has been used against her for the past two-almost-three decades. Also there's probably an element of misogyny to it as well.

She's made mistakes and bad calls, but it happens.

Yup, surely those numerous "mistakes and bad calls" have absolutely nothing to do with it. Just rampant sexism and victims of the smear campaign!

Shit happens, even when you just accidentally, actively campaign on it.

For fucks sake, Trump got people convinced Ted Cruz's dad was involved in the JFK assassination based off of a doctored photo in a rag mag. Trump would eat Sanders alive what with things Sanders has actually done/been involved in, the Fidel Castro one being a good example. He honeymooned in a Burlington sister city in the USSR. Regardless of what any of that actually means, where do you think Trump would go? There are various other things out there (cant find the site again). A quick search of "Sanders skeletons in closet" shows an article about potential kickbacks to family and friends which would also come out. Again, the current polling is representative of no one having really attacked Sanders at all/knowing anything about him.

The direct example is John Kasich. Lots of people (myself included) felt was a great candidate. He came off as a great moderate, and yet, when you look into it, he is the only republican who actually passed extremely restrictive reproduction rights laws in Ohio, among other things. Basically he was at right and conservative as you could get, but nobody knew because he was such a non-issue that no one went after him. That is exactly how the Republicans and Democrats have treated Sanders, except now that Sanders and his supporters are going down the road the are, some democrats in the party are getting upset and Trump is actively trying to play them.

That's less of a Sanders attack and more of a word salad crazy pants attack.

Expect more lazy copy pasting attacks from Trump based on something Sanders said in the past. They are already deflecting his tax return release dodge by saying something something wall street transcripts.

I agree with this if the opposition was anyone but Trump. Trump has literally campaigned as a fascist.

I mean, the Ads would hurt Bernie. And definitely plummet his polling with Trump where he compares with him in match ups.

Plus the debates, I really have no idea how they would go. Bernie's stump speech might be enough to coast him through, he's a little better at deflecting questions he doesn't really know the answer to better than Trump.

One of the debates is entirely foreign policy. How is he going to get through that? They both claim to have been against the Iraq War so that's not an asset.

why are you 2 even debating this. Hillary is about to become the nominee in a short 20 days. We should be celebrating not fretting about the improbable wacky bernie.

Yea I couldn't stand it when Hillary campaigned in 2008 for destroying America either
