I don't know you guys. Some of what she says makes sense, but there's just something about her...

Not like Trump, who has never registered the slightest wobble on my sensitive gauge of concern.

I hope if even half her promises pan-out (due to the GOP's insane childish behaviour that was trying to destroy the Obama years seeping into her presidency) that'll be amazing.

I like how Trump's letter is almost entirely about how terrible Hillary is, so vote Trump. Meanwhile, Hillary barely even mentions his candy ass.

I mean its all he can run on imo. He wants people like me who dont want to vote for her to vote for him. Sucks for him I dislike him even more and I was told I cant do a write in. not really feeling the 3rd parties either so I feel forced into voting for Hillery.

Not expecting much to happen under a Clinton presidency, as a member of the third-way Democrat movement I expect the Democratic party to move ever so slightly to the right/stay in the middle while the GOP reaches new realms of the right yet to be seen in America. Hopefully at the very least, the left can mobilize and we can get a truly progressive candidate 4/8 years for now. This election in the end comes down to a single question, beyond partisan politics and beliefs, it is this: are you a rational person, and god willing the majority of Americans will see the light. Luckily, that seems to be the case.

Most progressive platform in Dem history = move slightly to the right....

Sure

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Platform =/= candidate. Last I checked Hillary was for the death penalty and rather hawkish on feign policy.

But you just said the Democratic party was going to move to the right more...not just Clinton.

Right, I fully expect the party to move in that direction, especially on foreign policy, seeing as the third way people are now the controlling force. Having a progressive platform doesn't mean the party will be the most progressive its ever been. What's the saying? Campaign from the left and govern from the right.

Citizens United... I don't see it happening until there are 60 democrats in the Senate. And even then, that may not be enough. There probably shouldn't be any money thrown at politicians, but honestly, I don't see that happening in my lifetime.

I can see justice reform and immigration reform happen... eventually.

The spending bill for infrastructure and etc? No way.

Sorry for being so cynical... but the right isn't so moderate so its hard to see that spending bill happening.

So what are the chances of overturning Citizen's United even happening?

Honestly most of this shit doesn't seem like it'll pan out. She's got my vote but I'm not expecting the status quo to change too much.

Yeah I voted for her but most of her plan isn't going to happen. The GOP is going to obstruct the living fuck out of her. She'll be lucky to get a SC justice passed in the 4 years she's in office.

Yup.

TBH that is also reflected in surveys, generally people are voting *for* her. In the case of Republicans a sizable chunk are voting against her.

It depends on whether you actually expect the GOP to indefinitely stall a Supreme Court candidate. I don't personally consider it likely, but you never know.

I don't like how she paints Russia as an adversary. Now, Putin is far from a nice, fair leader but how does it make for a healthy foreign relationship when your default position is, that's the enemy! It doesn't help anything, but feed the americans that in order to win, Russia has to lose.

Am I crazy here?

You should ask Mitt Romney.

A constitutional amendment is not necessary. We just need to appoint liberal justices to overturn the previous ruling (and this case will be brought up again once that happens), which means we only need 50 Democratic Senators.

Any constitutional amendment will not happen regardless of its context, though. The country is too divided now. Even if its something everyone agrees with, it'll never be approved of by 38 states simply because too many conservative state legislatures will say "Democrats proposed this? I REJECT IT!".

At this point, to call Russia anything but an adversary is to deny reality. I get not wanting to inflame tensions, but still.

Its a travesty that this thread was eclipsed by the Trump thread in both Comments and Views

Trump is fascinating (for the wrong reasons). Hillary is....the Democratic nominee.

And it just dawned on me that we're talking about Trump in Hillary's thread, lol

I think next 4 years is going to be pretty rocky with regard to so many things on top of the shit she probably will have to continue to deal with. Best luck.

Eh. That's a solid text. I hope that as soon as this thing is over there will be time to bring up other all the problems too. Lots of things haven't made public discourse because of how busy the internet is with so much senseless drivel.

Fantastic message. I read that actually felt somewhat hopeful. I read Trump's and all could say was "Goddamn this is negative, why is he mentioning Hillary so much?"

Looking forward to casting my vote for you Hillary.

Voted for her already.

To me, it's really no contest when you compare the two. Like, in everything they say and do. EVERYTHING.

Has she mentioned constitutional amendment for citizens united before? That's pretty great.
She has. I don't doubt it'll be introduced, but I think it's just meat for the base. If Citizens United is ever overturned it'll be thanks to the Supreme Court overturning precedent. I just don't see a veto-proof majority supporting it.

The GOP can't afford not to pass immigration reform (or more accurately, let it pass). They're losing major ground with Latinos, the fastest-growing demographic in the country and a decisive factor in electoral politics. Clinton is on track to win Latinos by over 60 points, after Obama won them by 40 in 2012, 20 in 2008 and Kerry only won them by 10. Just to put into perspective the GOP's problem here, when Reagan won 56% of the white vote in 1980, he carried 44 states and won the election with 489 electoral votes. Romney won 59% of the white vote in 2012, carried 24 states and lost the election with 206 electoral votes. Latinos becoming a solid Democratic electorate the way African-Americans are would be disastrous for the GOP.

Immigration reform will likely clear the 60 vote threshold in the Senate, but it's all up to what the House does. The GOP might still block it because they don't want to stand up to their dumbass base who thinks Mexicans are taking their jerbs. And they could even still win in the midterms anyway, but them continuing to write off Latinos will likely cost them the presidency again in 2020.

The tax/infrastructure stuff might be able to get through paired with some concessions to Republicans. I think Paul Ryan, should he be Speaker would probably really want a deal on tax reform. Also I feel okay about criminal justice reform's chances, actually - a lot of hardline conservatives are starting to come around to it because of the meth epidemic among poor white communities, aka the GOP base. While it's annoying that politicians only treat this as a serious issue when it starts affecting white people, if that's what it takes to get it done, then whatever I guess.

Have you seen the state propaganda that is virtually everywhere in Russia?

We are never going to be buddy-buddy with them, and if we were, they would only allow that if we let them do whatever the fuck they want.
Not with that attitude no.

You already experienced that with Bush.

Nah, Trump's got more crazy in him than Bush for sure. Bush was like small, tame, circuis chimp. Trump's more like Bobo the violent beta male who constantly challenges the alpha and nobody in the tribe likes him cause he's such an asshole who hordes the best fruit for himself.
