God damn, when they know they are going to be the only source on a very popular file why don't they just make it into a Torrent?

Haha, using that "Click-click-boom" song is really a smart way to inspire the faith of the cynical internet dorks they are counting on to help hype the movie....

Oh man, this looks pretty damn decent. I've been praying for a faithful translation of my favourite series, and other than THE TRAVESTY OF BEING STRAPPED TO A BLOCK INSTEAD OF A CHAIR DURING THE VOGON POETRY READING I'm looking forward to this.

Having Zaphod's 2nd head under his 1st head's chin is vaguely disconcerting...but I'm getting a good vibe from this flick.

*crawls onto his mattress named Zim and goes to sleep*

edit: here's another sendit link in case that one dies http://s6.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0167IAZG954762XWFCM5B72RD4 :)

They moved the movie up one week. Guess they got a little Vader-phobia and want an extra week of box office.

It wouldn't really suprise me if it turns out to be a flop. I'll watch it though.

It has enough rabid fans to be a new Rocky Horror.

Warner actually tried to turn The Matrix into the "new Rocky Horror" by doing midnight showings in 2001/2002, but it just didn't work out like they wanted.

Hitchhiker's, on the other hand, could.

Who cares how much money some big shot in Hollywood makes. I only care if its a quality translation of one of my favorite book series. I don't care if every theater is empty. Although I want it to be a hit.

It's pretty cool how they can market this as a sci-fi/action/adventure movie with laughs to the plebes, and not piss off the fans because it's pretty clear to us that the "action" scenes are taken out of context.

:lol :lol

Who the hell would want to watch The Matrix every Friday night? I don't think anything can become another Rocky Horror unless it has a huge rowdy, outgoing community and a heavy performance component. People won't show up just to sit in a room and watch the same movie over and over again.

Having people scream stuff back at the screen with the awful Matrix sequels probably would have worked better....though only for a little while.

Hitchiker fans are probably too introverted to turn it into an RHPS-style craze, and there's no music or performative part to this film (unless I'm mistaken).

There's a musical number at the start of the movie by the whale when he explains about the dolphins :lol

My only criticism is that the trailer has no Shynola.
Yeah. No Shynola. No Rickman. But it's kind of refreshing to see a trailer that holds back, saves the best stuff for the movie.

AICN took it down:

Okay... the inevitable has occurred... Disney sent us a politely worded cease-and-desist that's sorta hard to ignore, and we have to take this offline now. Evidently, it'll be back up later tonight at www.amazon.com and the IMDb, so as soon as they have it up, I'll run a new link for it. Sorry to those of you who didn't get a chance to peek.

I've not read the books, (I know for shame, maybe after I finish reading Catch 22), but the trailer looks really cool. I guess not having the background from the books to go by I don't really have much to judge it against, but I'd go and see this in the theaters.

Then again, I'm looking forward to Constantine, so what do I know?

Good point. I noticed that they're also (wisely) holding back on the Britishness.
