Mmmmh, played 4 hours yersteday without any crash in native.
Activated DLSS3 and frame genaration and now it's crashing after 5 minutes.

And the game has some massive memory leaks

Can't say I've seen that much RAM usage. I have 32GB ram and doesn't go past 17GB.

I played for two hours straight without any crash, with DLSS3 FG all maxed out in 4K and my 32 GB RAM never got above 24-28 GB usage with my browser opened and several game launchers in the background.

Could it be something else like Nvidia Shadowplay ? I had one of its process use 12 GB of RAM before restarting its service.

When it crashed, did UE4 show an error? What did it say?

Playing 4k DLSS quality and FG on with all settings ultra even RT with added command line in the engine.ini at 4 samples / count.

Not one single crash.

Gigabyte 4090 OC undervolted
7950X
32GB DDR5 6000
2TB SN850X Gen 4
Win 10

Ram usage is 21gb
Vram usage is 17-18GB

Running between 90-115 so far 3 hours in. No stuttering.

Can't really complain about anything for obvious reasons.

Tag, you're it.
If youre using reshade or similar stuff, disable them. Doesnt work with FG. I had that happen with A Plague Tale and had no idea wtf was causing it until i realized I installed reshade on it.
Ah so this is it. Too bad because I added a bit of sharpening and vibrance and the game looks a lot better. I guess I'll have to use Nvidia game mode.
Anyway thanks for the information!

Yeah I also use reshade for most games because the nvidia one eats more frames when adding extra effects through it like better colors/cotnrast/sharpening, more than reshade anyway.

New drivers but no mention of Hogwarts but apparently updates nvidia inspector with the game profile so we can turn on rbarr

EDIT*

528.49 has a 'Game Ready Driver Profile' for Hogwart's Legacy, just not listed in release notes

Code:

ShowOn GeForce
ProfileType Application
Executable "phoenix-win64-test.exe"
Executable "hogwartslegacy.exe"
Setting ID_0x105e2a1d = 0x00000004

Performance has been great in the castle but I’m getting stutters when I was going into hogs Meade. 4090/5900X everything set to ultra.

No key, they are gonna show the key on release date.

But i bought hogwarts as a part of a 2 games order and i already used the key of one game (evil west), but if they didn't send the key for hogwarts i should be able to ask a refund yeah.
Hmmm you should fight this then. I placed a 3 game order with voidu including SE Hogwarts Legacy months ago and got it refunded 2 weeks ago in order to get deluxe from GMG.

Update the games DLSS file using steps here (assuming you're even using DLSS):

And turn off VSYNC in-game and enable it in nvidia control panel. These 2 changes almost completely eliminated stuttering for me.

Just asked and received the refund a couple of hours ago and already bought the deluxe.

I was confused because most stores have a cancel the preorder right there in the order page but i had to send an email to ask refund for voidu.

Oh I see, thats good then. Yeah these keysites tend to make you jump through atleast 1 hoop if you want your money back. I asked for a refund from cdkeys for Atomic Heart about a week ago (just gonna play it on gamepass) and they had the nerve to come back and ask me why I want a refund lol. None of your business, just give me my damn money back!

Is there any difference between 16gb and 32gb RAM performance? It seems to be using 16gb ram in general.
I've been running 16gb RAM and well...........I just ordered 32gb RAM lol. Should arrive tomorrow. I found out the hard way that 16gb RAM is really only 14gb RAM.....pc noob here.

I have a lower end setup though (3050Ti, Ryzen 5 5600) and while the game runs 1080p 60 fps on low settings 90% of the time, I will randomly get stuttering/hitching. It doesn't ruin the experience but I could use the RAM anyway.

So i forced v sync from the control panel, i also shut off rtao since it didnt seem like it was actually doing anything. Now i can use frame generation and im getting almost a locked 120 fps with dlss set to quality and everything set to ultra

I thought forcing VSync through NVCP was normal for just using GSync. At least that's what I've been doing.

One of the green rats
getting a solid 60 fps on ultra with RT at 1440 , but it has crashed twice. might refund and just go Xbox with this.

yes. This is a proper way with vrr. You have to force vsync in nvcp as it is not exactly the same vsync as without vrr. It's not only a ceiling but also removes tearing which otherwise could still happen with vrr.
But do disable vsync in game for sure.

Runs good on my old rig at 60 FPS at 1440p.
Everything maxed out.
All settings maxed out in the Nvidia control panel.

I7 Cpu
16 gigs of ram
Gtx 1070
Windows 11

So if i forced it in the control panel, i should disable it in game, in a game like deaspace or cyberpunk for instance

Since nVidia released the new drivers and actually added an entry for Hogwarts game profile... is anyone willing to check out if enabling rebar has a positive result?

Rebar enabled for Dead Space actually made a significant difference.

I have the framerate set to unlocked with vsync turned on in the control panel. I might lock the frame rate in the control panel to 100fps as I’m getting dips from 116 to 90 as it is now. Courtyards in the castle also tank the frame rate.

I'm sorry, but you have to enable the resize bar on a game per game basis? what if i turn it on globally from inspector?

I don't want to be spoiled or anything but it turns out that my criticism about the performance in the school at the beginning of the game is somewhat warranted. It does seem to have a lot going on for the ray tracing or whatever settings are at play. Apparently it gets even better and more normal on even the steam deck it's just that school section has a lot of stuff going on apparently.

That's good to see you considering I just talked to a couple of teachers and it seems to me like the map is ready to open up for me to leave the school. I was getting about 100 to 144 FPS before I hit some of those school hallway sections which really pushed the variable refresh rate since it dip down into the 50s.

Hmm performance went to complete shit for me in hogsmead, had like 24fps during the troll fight.

Yeah, game runs fine only during the first part, yet another case of sell today and patch tomorrow. Playing Uncharted ATM I can see now why Naughtydog are considered wizards.

For anyone wondering, today's Nvidia driver release does have a "Game Ready" driver profile for Hogwarts Legacy. Nvidia just chose not to highlight it because they probably don't want to get canceled for mentioning it or something.

Can anyone confirm this loss in performance after installing the new driver?
For me big time. After the drivers are updated I'm getting choppiness and fewer frames. Last night I rarely ever dipped below 60fps and had no hiccups or choppiness. I have that today.

I think the game does some weird rendering stuff where it loads assets depending on where you point the camera, causing extra shader compilation.
At the mission where you have to meet Sebastian at night, it spawns you on top of the stairs.
Looking forward doing nothing I'm seeing 75+ fps
Slowly moving the camera to the left 45 degrees and there's a visible and reproducible hitch/stutter, dropping the fps to 60 before recovering stabilising back to 75+.
Doing a full spin quickly keeps the game hitching so much it drops to ~44 fps, immediately recovering back to 75+ if I stop.

Waiting for a few minutes seems to have compiled all the shaders of this camera based asset loading, and now I can spin the camera without any hitching or drops....

What is the point of the game compiling shaders on startup, if it's just going to keep doing it throughout the game.

The start of the game is very smooth, so maybe it just compiled those specific shaders? 🤔

This early access shit is pissing me off. I have the vanilla version preloaded on Steam but cannot play because I didn't buy the deluxe version. Now I see adds saying you can get the game on PS5 early if you preorder any version. So basically making some people pay extra for the early access but giving it to others. Such a bullshit Macro Transaction. I am pretty sure we will see more of this type of "innovation" in the future. I am expecting Preorder before embargo to get game on platform X a week early or buy the DX version to get the same on the other platforms.
