Horizon Zero Dawn livestream

OK, caught up on all the videos.

Still not feeling it :(

The Far Cry comparisons seem accurate.

It will come down to the narrative for me.

Waiting for reviews.

Makes zero sense the robots can't see her when she's walking through that tall grass. They're fucking robots!

But what if she's a machine herself, with some sort of jamming tech?

Say what you want about the voice acting for NPC's, but I trust Aloy will have decent voice acting at worst. Ashly Burch did an amazing job as Chloe Price in Life Is Strange. There is no reason to doubt her.

Yea Aloy seems just fine. It's seemingly everyone else that seems slightly off, or has the whole uncanny valley thing going on.

Oh, no disagreements from me. The voice acting of most of the NPC's thus far do seem pretty mediocre. I'll reserve my full judgement until I finish the game.

Edit: You know what, I just thought of another appropriate comparison to Far Cry. Even at its worst, the voice acting in this game is better than the voice acting of almost everyone in Far Cry 3, save for Vaas, who was literally the only well acted role in the game. Everyone else ranged from acceptable to downright awful.

ESRB rates Horizon.

Platform: PlayStation 4

Rating Category: Teen

Content Descriptors: Alcohol and Tobacco Reference, Blood, Mild Language, Mild Sexual Themes, Violence

Rating Summary: This is an action/role-playing game in which players assume the role of a hunter (Aloy) surviving through a post-apocalyptic world. Players guide Aloy as she learns to hunt robotic creatures and animals in the wild. Aloy uses arrows, spears, and explosive traps to injure and kill machines, boar, and occasional human enemies. Animals and humans emit small puffs of red blood when struck; one sequence depicts an abandoned camp with large blood stains on rocks and trees.

The game contains a brief reference to sexual material (e.g., "Eighteen months hard labor in exchange for thirty years lounging around Elysium watching porn?"). During the course of the game, characters sometimes reference controlled substances: "I went to the beer fount too many times to count"; "I'm just a brewer"; "I know I'm a useless drunk"; "A tobacco cigarette?"; "Speaking of which, mind if I smoke?" The words "a*s," "bastard," and "b*tch" appear in dialogue.

why are people mentioning "stiff animation"?

From the gameplay the animation looks absolutely amazing to me...

I can't speak for others, but personally, whilst I find combat and other gameplay animations to be great, facial animations on NPCs are definately what I would call stiff. Huge uncanny valley effect, with realistic mouth and eye animations but without enough deformation in the cheeks, nose and forehead to adequately sell it. They look like animatronic robots with rubber skin.

Okay, someone be frank with me. Did a poster really come in here and say "Horizon has little foliage" or is this a satirical thing you guys are doing to one up the ridiculousness? I missed much of the drama in Horizon threads as I was too focused on RE7.

I remember him, he exactly used the "not dense enough" forest statement in maybe three different threads. thats why the meme.

Ooooo it was a whole big thing between multiple threads.

I asked ealier in an edit, but i think it was missed, so i'll ask again.

Do we know if flying debris like the tree trunk that is sent flying in the gif posted here will interact (read: hurt) Aloy? That would be awesome if it did, would make for some hilarious moments.

Combat looks great, but I think a stamina meter would have made it even better and more strategic. Now you can seemingly dodge roll forever.

God no. Another thing to worry about.

Just increase the recovery frames after a certain amount of rolls, much simpler and forces you to stop spamming roll.

I'd say this is spot on. Robots or people who have had way too much Botox. It's definitely an uncanny valley thing too as so much of the game and certain elements of the characters look so real.

I will not say if it was low or not, as everyone has its own point of view regarding the game, and at that time the released material was limited, But repeating the same thing in every horizon thread is a little bit ridonkulus
True, I guess the ridiculous thing is the repetition and less about the opinion. Either way, it's yet another case of many GAFfers jumping to conclusions without the necessary evidence to back them up.

what about the finger debacle?
Hey, if you're referring to the dummy finger, at least it did something in the end! :P

You insult me, I was one of the first on GAF to get the dirty coin in the demo. :(
