On mobile, in preferences, there's an option for turning off "show gifs". That helps too.

To those playing the game, what is your take on this from an embargoed reviewer?

"This game is for the farming crowd". That's a weird critique considering that Horizon doesn't require as much farming as other RPGs or games with survival elements.

Basically, enemies hit harder and Alloy hits softer, herbs drop rates are lower. It looks like you can abuse stealth kills in the game, but a basic enemy two-shots you on Very hard so...

Horizon takes the cake for me. Even today combat doesn't click with me very well in Witcher 1. Granted Witcher is a much more traditional rpg.

Witcher 1 compared to Horizon is a very strange comparison. Witcher 1, at least on initial release, was very rough in terms of visuals and presentation. It was a rough diamond. Horizon looks very slick for a first game. Plus, Witcher 1 was essentially CD Projekts first game. The most fair comparison, would be Witcher 3 and Horizon.

I know it's not a fair comparison considering the released timeline, but I wanted to see the potential for improvement for Horizon compared to the Witcher. I mean if the first Witcher was a rough diamond, then the Witcher 3 is a pristine diamond. If people think Horizon is better than the first Witcher, can you imagine what kind of diamond Horizon's sequel would be especially now that GG has some RPG experience? I would love to see the Witcher and Horizon to continue to improve and expand on their universe.

Even then, it's still an odd comparison, considering TW3 is CDPR's third RPG, while this is GG's first.

Actually, Many A True Nerd did a great video about Fallout: New Vegas recently, and how Obsidian kind of hid the invisible wall with level design and directing the player's focus, or rewarding them with items. Not of games do that, though.

I don't think you're gonna get disappointed with the side quests in this game. They never disappoint me, mind you they aren't extravagant in scope. Nothing like GTAV. They focus on the main mechanics of the game, but the stories are interesting, you never know what will happen, they pay handsome rewards, and they help flesh out the world.

Do they vary in length? I know there will be some variance, but are some pretty meaty, some quickies?

Those gifs are absolutely ridicolous. Someone were right that it looks like it has the livelyness of the Witcher 3 reveal scenes that didn't pan out. Even more volume of flora and fauna & world.

I agree, and The Witcher 3 is one of my all time favorite games. Nothing else even comes close to what this game is doing. It's truly a generation defining looking game.
