Horizon Zero Dawn Spoiler-free Impressions (for real this time)

The more I play this game the more I like it. I played another 4 hours straight today and probably jumped up 10 levels just running around doing challenges. I also played with my Hd 650s and was blown away by the music and sound effects. There are a lot of subtle sound effects that I love. Specifically, when you repel down from a high point, you can hear the wind blowing by your ears as Aloy hastily slides down the rope. The machine sounds are incredible too.

I am probably going to pre order this digitally. Just waiting for some reviews to come in first.

I am sure it will score very high but just gotta make sure.

I'm really curious if GG will stick the landing with Horizon. So far we've heard all the love for the game in general, but I wonder if the ending will be rewarding/satisfying. Not even necessarily the resolution to the "mystery" but the last couple of hours.

I guess we'll find out in a few hours!

do we know how the game runs on the old ass PS4 compared to the Pro, or is that something ill have to wait until next week to find out?

I stopped reading reviews because of scores a long time ago. Of course I want games I like to be received well, and take notice when something gets tons of criticism, but scores aren't why I look forward to reviews. My favorite sites don't even use scores (Eurogamer, RPS, Times, etc). Way more interested in well-written passages and impressions; a really good paragraph can sell me on a game more effectively than a number score or ranking could.

Actually my favorite "reviews" are the diaries/journals some sites do for very open games like XCOM, Fallout, and DayZ

I can't really say there's a Big difference between the Two if I'm honest.
Both appear graphically the same in nearly all areas, the Pro may be a big crisp, but thats about it I believe.

FPS
Both were pretty stable, although I noticed with the Base form that it stutters in some cutscenes.

The Only big difference my base model sounds like it's taking off to another solar system

The plot in this game is like one long handjob on SSRI medication. There is an urgency to finish that I never reach because there's more to the story than I expected lol.

God I feel like I'm so CLOSE. BUT I HAVE TO GO TO BED.

The way you describe it, it's clearly foreshadowing and a story about a famous Aloy from the past, rather than some weird mistake

Didn't The Lamp finish and like it?

We do know that you can continue to play the game after finishing the story, which suggests that the ending avoids any of that bullshit Fallout 3 "arbitrary limited choice with protagonist death" nonsense. Fingers crossed, though.

I was thinking all the cutscenes weren't in realtime, and they were just pre-rendered CGI stuff, thus why both versions looked basically the same, but I figured out after I placed a trap and it showed up in a cutscene still there XD.

Oh, and Dear GamignBolt, don't F'n make a story out of my stuff

So yea, both versions from what i can tell look identical

Normally I don't care as much but I guess with it being a new IP and all it makes it a bit more exciting for long term prospects.

I remember that argument from all the way back in the Uncharted 2 days. I then pointed out an Xbox publication who'd also given it a 9 and they subsequently shut the hell up.

Whats odd is that i can guarantee that neither of those people that said this are xbox fans...they may be nintendo fans but they clearly like sony more....
that said could be a japan vs west thing too, i dont mean to judge but theyre people who think tales of berseria is one of the best games ever made

god this game has built up so many hate groups in such a short time and cant pinpoint a single good reason with the game itself that may be causing it....

This game is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated in years. We have a great couple months ahead of us with this, Zelda, FFXII remaster, Persona 5, and Mass Effect and I still have yet to pick up Yakuza 0 and Nioh.
