Horizon Zero Dawn Spoiler-free Impressions (for real this time)

And if even though KZ3 is shit on for some reason, it was low key one of the best single player experiences on the PS3. The pacing was perfect and the co-op gameplay was really fun.

For everyone being blown away by GG's essentially first strong push on PS4, where were you in 09 for the Killzone 2 hype train? This is nothing new for GG to blow everyone away with their technical prowess.

Its in my top 3 of all time games, played mp til end of 2015 ( 7 years). I have guys on friend list still playing.

I dont doubt guerilla even after shadow fall. Yakuza managed 84 with 5s and bunch of 7s. I ll go with 85-90 for horizon.

I was there for both betas, demo and final launch. The hype was monumental on GAF.

This and warhawk are 2 of the most underrated shooters of all time.

What I am really curious about, if the game turns out to be good (and apparently it is), is how will reviewers talk about other Guerilla games AKA Killzone, both comparitvely and about the future of the franchises if they feel like somehow Horizon leaves space for a new entry in the future (which I think is very much possible). I really hope this sets GG on a new direction as I am not the biggest fan of the KZ games, dont think they are bad, just very restrictive to the potential of the studio, creative wise at least, especially after so many subsequent entries.

Checking in periodically whilst writing a midterm essay, excited to have some video reviews/discussions to devour in an hour.
Not entirely sure why it feels like the game is out this week rather than next but it certainly does. Hopefully, Night in the Woods and Halo Wars 2 will serve as proper distractions.

Gameblog's offical Metacritic blurb
Few new licenses have been successful in setting the bar so high. Thanks to its varied, dazzling landscapes, its controlled rhythm, and sharp gameplay, Aloy's quest redefines what immersion in an open world means, if it does not revolutionize the genre.

One of the minus in the french review is that the ending is not as strong as the rest of the story. Let's see if other reviews point out the same.

KZ series is amazing, all these other FPS games get minimal hate and praise for mediocre ass SP campaigns but KZ actually makes the core gameplay fun, they nailed the feel of shootouts and put effort into the hit animations of enemy A.I, something literally no one else does. It ruined COD for me and as good as Titanfall 2 manages to throw cool shit at you, the camera on a stick/auto aim shooting/pea gun bullets severely brings it down.

KZ2 and 3 are both the best FPS campaigns I've played outside of Resistance 3 since Halo 1. KZ3 added some really sick snow levels with the jet pack and the Mauler levels.

Half an hour left. So tempting to see the review thread in its prime, but I think I'm going to fold.
Just remember, a Kat will always be watching.

I've been lurking this thread all day. Was not expecting to be equally hyped for both this and Zelda. Damn these first 3 months of the year are GOOD

Remember, guys, that at least one site will score it low. Happens with every game. Don't let it get to you. There's a lot of people that will be reading the review thread just looking for people who are "melting down"/getting overly defensive.
