Hot Shots Golf 5 confirmed for PS3

Time for the series to evolve. Online or RPG mode please.

There was a Hot Shots Golf Online in Japan. I think it was just HSG3 but with an online mode. Never made it outside of Japan though.

I think this was a given, but it'd be nice to see what they do with the series. Hopefully it comes out near launch, that way more people outside of Japan might give it a shot as it really is a great series.

This was one of the 4-5 PS3 titles that was on the Japanese PS site for a while (until it became known to the world and the site was taken down). So it's definitely confirmed.

I never played a hot shots golf, is it more of a sim or more arcadey?

Also, screenshot looks nice if from this game.

HSG Fore! has an online mode.

Regardless, it may sound strange, but HSG5 is probably my most anticipated PS3 game...

uh ssx, hot shots golf fore had an online mode.
Yup. So adding online isn't gonna be evolving the series. Now realtime leaderboards (online) being displayed on PSP while you play the game on PS3 would be nice.

Have you ever played Mario golf? It's very similar.

Fixed!

I read somewhere Genji 2 was a launch title?

HOT! This is a definite must buy for me. I always did love this series. I always found the series looked and played better than other more serious golf games. Can't wait to see what they can do on the ps3.

GBA version FTW! That game owned me for months... the amount of content in it puts most console-based golf games to shame.

Anyway, can't wait to see MNG5, and hopefully most of it stays intact for the US release. With blu-ray (if that's the chosen format for this game), they can afford to keep the J-models and voices in there for us!

Hot Shot Golf Fore! is lighthearted but can be seriously treacherous in the more advanced courses. It also has lots of unique characters (a few that you'll probably recognize). Its not as Sim like as the Tiger Woods series and its not overly Arcade'y.

Truely a great series

It's entirely possible especially if Genji 2 is as short as the first. ;-)

Seriously though - Game Republic claimed to have as many as 6 or 7 projects in development quite some time ago so there is no telling how long G2 has been in production.

For as short as it was, it was pretty fun -- Yoshitsune is pretty badass. HE HAS TWO SWORDS. TWO.

whats up with the soccer, baseball, basketball and tennis players in this banner? will these sports also integretaed in HSG5?

Where did "Action RPG" come from? All of them except that one were confirmed at TGS too, btw.

It'd be lovely if Hot Shots was a launch title..

The PSP version was the first I ever played the series. That game has had the most play of any game on any system I own right now. Can't wait to see the PS3 version.

Yeah, you could really look at it as Hot Shots Golf being the base game, with two series branching from it. Mario Golf for N64 and GCN being made by the original HSG developers (Camelot), while further Hot Shots Golf games were developed by Clap Hanz.

Was there really an issue with previous games using so many gigabytes of space on golf that this wouldn't have been possible if they wanted to?

I've said this before, but why not say it again! If you watch the CG sequences and compre them to the TGS trailer they're of the same quality. I've often thought they were using the CG as the testbed for the PS3 in Genji - learn and adapt to the PS3 hardware. Just idle thought, but it seems pretty logical. I remember G4 comparing the openning CG of Genji and Onimusha and say they look very similar... it'd be amusing if Genji CG was realtime PS3. Bah, it's all meaningless chitchat right now, though.

Any chance, "The Eye of Judgement" is that eyetoy2 game we saw at E3?

If I had the disc space usage memorized for HSG3 and HSG4, maybe I could answer your question. :D Anyway, it was more just a jab at them (and companies in general) for changing the voices and stuff... I wish more games would give us the same options as DVDs when it comes to content, languages and subtitles.

I don't think that has anything to do with HSG5... it's referencing Minna no Golf Portable.

Yup, it's most likely a new name for Eyedentify.

Mario golf is by the same developers so you can trust Hotshots
The same developpers as the first opus, though.

Yes, they are similar. I love both. There is some differences (for example, Mario golf show the falling point of the ball, HSG the point after rebounds, of course neglecting wind, lie and ground...). Mario Golf has more options, like time attack, ring shots and such, but it's a pity that there's so few courses.

Online could be an improvement, Fore's online mode is a catastrophic (fall in a bunker in fast mode, and you will be deconnected by "time over", you've only a board, and you can't even look at others...)

What do you mean by first opus? Only the first Hotshot golf was by Camelot ?

Yes... As said before, Clap Hanz made all the others (which are quite good, also). Camelot is nearly a second-party for Nintendo, now.

Exactly... also what JoshuaJSlone said:

Should be ready for US launch (just guessing). Depending on what else is available, I might buy it. Probably just rent and wait for the price drop.

Not strange at all, I've put way too many hours into HSG:OT on my PSP. I'm looking forward to it too, by Dynasty Warriors with online co-op would be my lock of the system.

I would love if they added soccer, baseball, basketball and tennis. Of course I don't see why Sony wouldn't just release separate games for each one of the sports.

Sony trademarked Everybody's Tennis last year. So it looks like you'll get your tennis game.

What a surprise. Next you'll be telling me a new Ape Escape game is coming out for the PS3 too.

Everybody's Golf Online didn't do so well in Japan and I believe the engine was reused in Everybody's Golf 4. I played the online game myself for a while (I was in the beta test), and I really enjoyed the real time tournaments (where 100 people play at once). I wonder what direction the graphics will head in. Maybe something claymation-like, like Blue Dragon?
