How is Encalve(XB)?

I've rented this game and formed an opinion on it, in the past...but--let's say--I was a pretty objective gamer back then and thus any old opinion I had on this game cannot be trusted to be anything but fanboy BS

So: How the hell is this game? Please, inform me :b

Enclave rocks. One of my XB favourites. Prob best example of Xbox texturing on the machine. But be warned. It's old skool toughness. Pretty large levels, where you have to do it all over again if you die. No pussy reset points here! Great music as well.

Aye, I remember the game being pretty hard (according to memory, it wasn't too hard)...also remember something about there being a bunch of unlockables and several evil/good characters (never did get around to beating the game...but then again...I almost never beat games)

The reason I'm asking these questions so late after the game's release is cause I just orderd the game online and wanna know what people think about it...if I wasted my money, in a sense

Edit: I typed 'toop hard' instead of 'too hard'

Awesome, but very challenging hack and slash game with visuals that still hold up well. I also like how you can play in both first and third person viewpoints, there's a nice variety of characters to play as, and you get two different storylines (light and dark)

I would definitely recommend the PC version over the Xbox version, but the Xbox version is great too. I have them both. :)

opinions vary quite a bit on this game, but i'm of the camp that thinks the game is shit. well, shit is probably a bit harsh, but even for its time i was anything but impressed with it, i found it to be maybe average. i'm sure my view would be even lower on it today...

Get the PC version, definitely. As a third-person arcade-styled fantasy romp, it kicks serious ass.

It isn't often I agree with Drinky Crow, but he's right on the mark. Get it!

Like Op said, it falls into that limbo reserved for games like Gun Valkyrie (hell, that game owns the patent): Either you love it or hate it. I never owned it, but did love playing it.

See the quotes above? He speaks the truth. I too own the game and consider it greatness. MidEvil hack and slashing with a good number of unlockable characters to use.

If you use the proper character then half the difficulty is removed. Something this forum never realized when they were too busy hating on this game a few years back, heh.

Hell no...even with my PS2-tinted goggles on back then I didn't think the game was terrible...Gun Valkyrie (on the other hand) is a pathetic experiment of a crippled half-assed game that's designed to fool assholes into thinking that overcoming such manufactured hurdles is a badge of geek honor

If you wish to reply to this post, try to do it thru PMs...I don't want to throw this thread off topic :b

Wow,

looking at op_ivy and bob_arctor's avatars makes me realize just how much MC's suit is based on Doom's old space marine.

Here's an interesting tibit re. Enclave, someone who works at VU told me that Enclave is one of Vin Diesel's favorite games. Along with Tekken!

First time I played it my nephew brought it over and I had already formed an opinion of it based on alot of reviews. Played 2 levels and dismissed it. Yes I thought it was shit. I later gave it another shot after reading glowing comments on internet boards. Went in with a different mindset. Frankly, there was maybe one or two spots where I had some trouble. Other than that I really enjoyed the game. Gorgeous graphics, load out your characters arsenal and choose any available character for each level. Must buy.

I love Enclave! The atmosphere is rich, the visuals are on point and sound brings it all together. It's kinda hard to have a Lord of The Rings/Gladiator type story line but it did well to keep us moving...it is hard, but not MDK 2 hard.

oh.. looks like it was cancelled on the cube: http://cube.ign.com/objects/487/487735.html as well as its sequel... i wonder what happened.
The dumbass publisher couldn't market their way out of a paper bag is what happened, and they subsequently went bankrupt and took the rights to the franchise down with them.

That, and you had the chorus of "Bah, this game is too difficult to finish in 5 hours. Screw this! 6.8!" reviews.

Was Knights Of The Temple really as bad as I heard it was? It seemed hard to believe since Enclave and Riddick were both so damn good IMO.

I have a near finished version on Gamecube (like 80% done) that was really good. It was almost identical to Xbox. It came on 2 discs, one for light and one for dark and you could play both from the start. The GC version was based on the PC port so had numerous bug fixes and the checkpoints.

Such a shame we never found a distributor for it.

Knights of the Temple was indeed quite bad, very bad camera issues (Dawn of Fate type issues), and a clunky combat system.
it could have been some much better...

the mix of 'Templars' and Satanism made for a poor story...
