It feels as if Bethesda's "comedy" had taken over the entire Microsoft Gaming marketing department.
A lot of otherwise promising games on paper showed really bad for that reason, such as Clockwork Revolution's 5 minute gameplay trailer that failed to effectively convey what the game is really about. Should've taken some cues from Arkane's stellar Deathloop demos, all of which managed to explain that game's complicated structure in a very straightforward way.
No big third-party games usually associated to Xbox - Assassin's Creed, Battlefield, Metro, Tomb Raider - also made the whole lineup of games seemed insufficient and not as diverse, focusing mostly on first-party games and DLCs as well as indies, but missing that third pillar.
Trying to disguise Call of Duty as another game (making people wonder if it was Quantum Break, Starcraft, BioShock...) for the final announcement was also super lame.
Should've done another Developer_Direct with a focus on The Outer Worlds 2, Grounded II, Call of Duty and Clockwork Revolution, with shorter segments for Keeper and the Indiana Jones DLC and called it a day; and announced the handheld at Summer Game Fest. This didn't warrant a showcase.
