Just noticed while browsing Google Maps that the Czech Republic was marked as Czechia. When did this name change happen?

I don't want to sound like a prick but it is literally the first result when you search "czech republic name change".

"In 2013, Czech president Miloš Zeman recommended the wider official use of Czechia, and on 14 April 2016, the government agreed to make Czechia the official short name. The new name was approved by the Czech cabinet on 2 May 2016 and registered on 5 July 2016."

Never heard anyone use it except for a few "special" people.

Like I said, only few people I have seen on TV use the shorter term, like our mentally challenged prime minister and mentally deficient president but I rarely, if ever, heard it in a casual conversation.

I am so infuriated by this. I, as a teacher, have an obligation towards our youth to instill them with proper education and morals but their parents are often fighting with me every step of the way. Things like good behavior, charity, chastity, temperance, humility and others are often looked down upon as they "inhibit" you in seeking "pleasure" (hedonism is what they mean). To an average czech the pinnacle of life is just wasting away and if the communists will allow them to transfer all their responsibilities to the state, so they can just sit on their asses 24/7 and rot, then that is what they will vote for and gladly. Any sense of agency is lost on these people, they live with the mantra of "let others do it, why should I care?". Detestable society we have here and I will do everything in my power to change it.

Everything teachers do is up to the parents to do better, schools exist because parents were too lazy (and/or wealthy) or too busy working in horrible factories of the 1800s to teach their kids so governments around Europe established schools for the most destitute families, slowly and surely this provisional, emergency matter became a standard and that is where we are now. Teachers are now viewed as "the other parents" and are supposed to do the parent's job while at the same time aren't allowed to do anything, it is a major conundrum and paradox which drives me up the fucking wall.

I worked in Czech for 3 months at a Czech factory with Czech and slovakian workers, I never got the sense they were lazy, just chilled out people.
