How much would you donate to a Shenmue 3 kickstarter by Yu Suzuki?

Never played Shenmue but I'd pledge $50 just to get the game made and shut up everyone who's been begging for the game for years.

0 for Kickstarter.

if they would put their own system up, the chances are very high i would donate highly. Shenmue is like the best game ever made.

You should specify on your main topic that people not willing to donate anything should refrain from posting.

It serves no purpose to the thread and people just like to troll over Shenmue, which is not needed.

Anyway, if i knew beforehand, i'd probably go for something like 1000 (if there's a nice reward like collector edition, sign, etc).

I don't really like the concept of asking the consumer to fund projects, so probably zero. Maybe $10 at best to show support to the community, but as a matter of fact I don't miss Shenmue that much. It was a great landmark in video game history, but now that ship has sailed.

So not wanting to fund something is now trolling?

ShenMue is a relic of a time gone by....all this theory into how much someone would give, doesn't bring the game any closer to reality...

Though I have to say the HD-reworked 1st ShenMue as shown here on another thread was very impressive!

Well I'd pay 60$ for a remaster of the first two games first as I haven't played any entry in the series before...

Theeennn I'll decide whether I pack or not

$0. I've never played the previous games, so I may need to give those a spin before considering donating. I would like the fact that it was attempting to be made to appeal to all those fans asking for it.

Make the product first then ill buy it. Why would i fund something when i don't have part ownership over it.

I don't understand why this is such a stickler. You are supporting an idea as a patron.

Paying for a copy of a game that you will eventually obtain while supporting a studio. Why does it matter if a product if a large publisher is funding it or not.

I don't think I could answer this without more information. I'd be willing to put a reasonable chunk of money in (three figures), but it'd be somewhat dependent on me actually believing that the proposal in question is genuinely viable. So I'd base my donation in part on what they're asking for. If they're asking for a *realistic* goal to make the game, I'd go big. If they're suspiciously low, I'd probably still support it but in a much more cautious manner.

In other words: The name Shenmue alone isn't going to get the big money out of me. I'd want to see a reasonable proposal that fits with my perception of what the game requires before I'd have faith in the project.

Shenmue was a real forward-thinking game, and a real landmark in gaming,... but I doubt they could re-capture what made it stand out. A lot of what made Shenmue what it was, was that it was a very expensive game. I don't think you can half-arse it, which is what the Kickstarter would probably result in. I'd donate $0, because it would probably not be the game what I imagine it should be.

Because not all people are so emotionally invested in games.

There are so many other platforms which let you join as real investors but games are a field where you can get dumb money pretty easily as company.

Probably nothing. Or maybe like $5 just for amusement's sake. I'd definitely hope for it to blow past its funding goal, though. Just to see all the freakouts and anticipation from fans.

If I could win the Mega Millions, I'd put a nice grip down on Shenmue 3 - fuck it I'll try to fund the whole thing myself. But get this - it'd be an 8-bit version son!

Shenmue is great because of how detailed and well made its environments are, thus, leading to being a big budget title. I doubt Shenmue would raise the budget needed through kickstarter
