How much would you donate to a Shenmue 3 kickstarter by Yu Suzuki?

Nothing. Unless it gets full AAA money for development or raises money like that starship game or Project Cars....I don't want it. I dont want one of, if not the most, wanted games to be a kickstarter venture.

For me to give money, Sega would have to show they actually give a damn about the West in the last 3 years.

That isn't Sonic or Miku.

Whatever money I had at the time. If all I had was a tenner then that, if I had £10,000 then that. I want this fucking game so much.

I never played Shenmue and have no interest in it, but I'd be legitimately curious to see the results of a Kickstarter like this. Just to get a real indication of the demand

What's the difference between Star Citizen and a "kickstarter venture"?

depends what the tier rewards were, probably up to $1000, maybe $10,000 if it was something incredibly special

Zero. The kind of game I want Shenmue 3 to be won't be made on a crowdfund budget. Star Citizen is an aberration and won't ever happen again. So, a publisher foots the bill in advance and then I make the decision to buy it or not.

So hypothetically what platforms would this be on? Shenmue 1 and 2 as digital downloads for a $20 or higher backer?

I'd probably back the kickstarter if and only if it came to PC with the above. All about that preservation.

Also a mouse + keyboard would probably be better than its awful analog stick controls.

Nothing....but most kickstarter ventures don't get that kind of money behind it and I highly doubt Shenmue would. Hence why I wouldn't want it to be kickstarted....unless it received that kind of money.

I would need to see the reward tiers before answering. However, I could see myself kicking in $100+, maybe in the $150 range.

Can I put you down for a hypothetical $10,000 then? Are you serious?

if the tier reward was good enough and the project was good enough, then yes seriously. not if it ended up being shenmue 3 mobile and a thumbs up from Yu as tier reward.

$60.

I played Shenmue at launch on the Dreamcast and loved it. I only played about half of S2 on the Xbox, but never finished it.

I'd love to see another one, but I don't think the stars are aligned and the people that made it have moved on to different things.

Who knows though, I'd love to see a rerelease of S1, that's for sure.

Amazed at the negativity given the general frothing over this game on GAF. Suppose those frothing could be the $1000 offerers though--I'm also amazed at that.

Would pay $60-70 if that got me a retail copy of the game and it appeared the project was going to recieve adequate funding (or not happen if it didn't). If the goal was like $200,000 with no external funding, yeah probably not unless there was crazy good evidence something good would happen.

Wish more Kickstarters were as transparent as Skullgirls--I donated fully confident they could pull it off with all their disclosure, and they have.

Genuinely surprised at the responses here. Those games were pretty fantastic in a lot of ways, and I'd love to see another. I wouldn't be surprised if many people who hate the games either never played them or never bothered putting more than an hour into them. That said, they definitely weren't for everyone, so I understand why someone wouldn't like it simply because they don't like those kinds of games.

I'd put down $100.

What platforms would it come out on? PS4/XB1 only or exclusive to either? zero. Coming to PC? I'd put down $50 if that got me a pre-order copy.
