How much would you donate to a Shenmue 3 kickstarter by Yu Suzuki?

Nothing, because you can only use Amazon payments with Kickstarter.

If they took a credit card directly or PayPal I'd give probably whatever the minimum amount was to get a physical copy of the game guaranteed. So like, between $60 - $150 or whatever.

Because not all people are so emotionally invested in games.

There are so many other platforms which let you join as real investors but games are a field where you can get dumb money pretty easily as company.

Kickstarter isn't just for games, you know. And it's had a lot of success with non-gaming projects, operating under the same rules.

Even if you're not that passionate about games, can't you see yourself donating to some artistic endeavour you wouldn't necessarily 'own' by the end of it?

depends on how this was hypothetically setup.

I could donate from one dollar to a few hundred, but the later only if the project was all I wanted it to be.

I know that Kickstarter is not just for games. Kickstarter concept is just perfect for getting money for games.
Emotionally invested people + small investments. $50-100 is nothing for the irrational feeling of making something possible.

Any yes, there is nothing wrong with throwing your own money at people.

Well the Shenmue 3 Campaign usually reaches millions each month (11.6 million a while ago). There are also some big youtube celebrities that love the series, Add those two together, along with the hardcore fanbase, and im pretty sure you'd have a MASSIVE fund for the project.

In terms of the Gaf responses, you have to remember that most people that bad mouth the franchise either haven't played it, or didn't understand what Yu Suzuki was trying to portray (which is a crying shame). I very much doubt you'd get a FIFA or COD guy funding a Shenmue project. Of course, there are some people that did play Shenmue fully and still didn't enjoy it, which is fine.

All in all though, there's a reason why Shenmue is one of the most requested games ever (The other two being Half life 3 and The Last Guardian). MS and Sony have also stated that the demand for the series triumphs any other ip that fans have requested to bring back.

The demand for the series is REAL. Suzuki, get that Kickstarter up and give it a go. At least then, everyone will have their answer.

I am a massive Shenmue fan but it would be 0 for me also, its not the fans responsibility to fund this project.

I'll just except that we will never see a Shenmue 3 now, they should probably just make an anime instead. (but that would probably be pretty mundane and boring)

I'd be wiling to put down $250
If that would mean I would be getting the full game some type of art book and let's say a figure

..
Maybe just maybe that's a huge maybe $500 or so bucks if that would make me a store owner in the game lol
Likeness and all

So not wanting to fund something is now trolling?

Nope, but this is not a "Shenmue sucks or not" topic. Fans are trying as much as they can to bring back Shenmue so degrading the IP by posting negative comments just wont help.

Thats why i've posted above and recommended that the OP should add to his OP that people who are not willing to donate should avoid posting.

I mean, its "how much would you be willing to donate" if you donate 0, you are not donating, so you're not willing to donate and it wont count in the total anyway. Now if another thread were to be created "Would you donate for Shenmue to come back?" now i wouldn't mind seeing 0's here and there, but its clearly stated :

" How much would you donate"

Sorry about this being a bit off topic.

Let's hope that Sega will, somedays, care enough to bring atleast the original games as HD remasters.

Whatever reward tier gets a physical copy of the game. If that's not a thing, then 0.
I'll need an amount to add to the total in the OP. What's your likely amount you'd be willing to pony up?
I'd probably go as high as 120 if I had to. I'd expect the tier to actually be around 80.

it would depend on what sort of shenmue 3 it is. the kickstarter pitch could conceivably range from a visual novel or tell-tale adventure game in scope, in order to finish the story elements, all the way up to a full fledged game with incredibly detailed worlds to thoroughly explore. i'm less attached to the story and characters of the series as i am the type of game shenmue is and the rich exploration and mood, so i'd be more interested in a pitch emphasizing that, but if it's just suzuki and a new team creating that kind of ambitiously sized game i'd also be reluctant to go with my heart because i'd be wary about whether it'd actually get finished.

$100 minimum. If it was looking realistic to fund (hell, I'd take a cell shaded game if it lowered the budget) I'd start to donate more.

Easily, at least 100 dollars. Minimum.

I also run a popular blog with a following of about 30,000 followers. I'm sure I could drum up another 500 in donations for Shenmue from my followers.

Never backed Kickstarter. Would go in for £350 for Shenmue 3, easy. This game would be worth the price of a new console to me.

I have never donated to a Kickstarter nor have I finished Shenmue 2 on Xbox (even though I really like the game)

For the good of the gaming industry we must have Shenmue.

I'd donate $50 on the condition I get a physical copy of the game on PS4.
