Hows the PS2 Retrocon controller?

I was thinking about picking this up for Gradius V and Megaman Collection. I can get one for about $10, just wasn't sure if it was any good. The last controller I bought from Mad Catz was back in 1998, and it broke in like 2 weeks. Any feedback would help.

Oddly enough, the analog sticks are very good, and the d-pad sucks. The L1/L2 and R1/R2 layout is awkward; they're placed horizontally on the top of the controller.

It's a good buy for $10. I use it for a change of pace every now and then.

Hah actually it's quite the opposite. It looks uncomfrotable but it feels great.

Of course it's not as comfortable as the official PS2 controller but it works very well. I've had mine since a month after initial release and so far it's worked exactly like it has since the day of purchase. It feels like a NES controller (except more comfortable thanks to the rounded edges and user friendly buttons) but it features accesible analogue sticks and shoulder buttons. The complaints against the shoulder buttons and analogue sticks are invalid however since the controller itself is so small that there is no feasible alternative. Everything has a nice feel to it and the d-pad works wonderfully well.

For $10 this is probably the best native PS2 retro pad you can purchase, especially at that price point. I'd probably wander into an EB and GameStop and ask to check out if they have any used ones in stocks before a purchase, for some reason I am blessed with perfect hands since a majority of controllers fit my form perfectly.

It does not work on anything else other than the PS2. For that reason alone, it sucks.

Lights up tho.
