Looking that over, I see there is another model, the PB278Q
Is it the PB278Q just does not include speakers but is more or less the same monitor, or is there a difference between the two that gives the MX27AQ the edge?

Also I see there are a few Beta's this weekend. Rainbow Six Seige. Battleborn. Doom.
I think I will check all of them out if possible.
Also an Overwatch beta but one needs to have already signed up for that one. Would have liked to get in that one the most.

Finally, I will be checking out UT4 to see how that is shaping up these days.

There's little info about the specifics, but I read on a few forums that it's a different panel. The reviews everywhere seem great. I was trying to decide between the two. I ended up grabbing an Amazon warehouse deal where just the box was damaged for $380.

I've actually been using that monitor with this system. It's nice but for the price you should save a bit more and get a 144hz monitor or something with a better response time. Minimal frame design is very nice, colors are great. Haven't seen any crushed blacks so I'm assuming the contrast is nice. Requires further inspection.

Awesome thanks. I'm not super interested in 144hz until I can get a beautiful panel w/ 144hz and G-Sync but it's a way off need for me. I'm more interested in getting beautiful games running at 60fps. I do play a lot of shooters but I'll compete just fine at 60fps for my liking. My wife will also be using this PC for editing photos. Also, my intent is to have this PC in the living room, so presentation is a little bit of a concern. I need to make use of that 65" 4k TV somehow. I appreciate the input tho! Glad you like it otherwise.

Anybody know the brand of graphics card for the 980 Ti I'm gonna swap some components around with another build of mine I had started (this was cheaper than building the second rig as I was planning it and got me most of the way there on components ).

I don't think anyone who has theirs have reported an issue. It makes upgrading a little difficult, that seems to be it.

You have 30days to return if it becomes an issue for you too.

It's a great computer, but it stopped seeing the included SSD drive for me after about 16 hours. Fortunately I had a year warranty, so after 90 minutes on tech support its going back for a repair.

Every piece of technology has issues in a percentage of what they ship. My surface book is incredible, but it's had a good set of issues that's needed go be worked out. Let's hope that his issue isn't a trend.

Be careful when transferring hdds from an old system to a new one with a different motherboard chipset. They don't always play nice.

My MX27AQ just arrived. It's awesome. Definitely lucked out with the Amazon Warehouse deals. Will return/exchange if I see the price drop significantly somewhere else. 1440p looks really good, and I'm glad I didn't roll the dice on 1080p. Brightness on 100 definitely melts the eye balls, even in a well lit room. I'll do some testing and maybe post some pictures by the end of the day.

The key is embedded in your motherboard. Just activate Windows on the hard drive that came with the system. After that's done, swap the hard drive and you can just install Windows without entering a new key.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Windows 10 works differently than previous versions in that once it's been activated on a set of hardware you never have to worry about re-entering the key. When you get your PC, log in and Windows will activate. You can then reinstall to your hearts content.

Here is some info about it (the key is not stored on your motherboard, likely it's a hash of various IDs off of HW in your system)

No, but it's probably not necessary. It appears to use an OEM power supply with traditional molex connectors.

Yeah no optical. I am considering using the Creative sound card I have in what is now my backup PC in this but not sure if it is going to cause issues with the PSU or what have you. But I believe you are either going to need a sound card or an adapter as you said.

Just played a match of the Doom 4 Beta.
Damn it feels good to play with a Keyboard & Mouse again.
I played both the Doom Closed Alpha & Beta on PS4 and while I liked it, I did not love it. And I only did okay when I played. I was just not that good on the PS4.
Took a match but I wound up being second place on my team and I was the only Level 1 in the match. On PS4 I was consistently on the bottom. Add a KB&M to the mix and once again I can be fucking competitive. I am sure the not a single framed drop butter smooth constant 60 FPS also helped things as well.

Now I am pretty sure I do need a new monitor. Almost no doubt at all about it. So keep us posted on that MX27AQ draughn101. Seriously all it took was 3 matches of the Doom Beta and I am leaning towards I now need a new monitor. This PC was supposed to be primarily for Oculus but I cannot resist playing FPS's.

I am already thinking about picking up Doom for the PC even though I already have it preordered for the PS4. Figure I can do the Campaign on the PS4 and play MP on the PC. I would prefer to do both on the PC but since I cannot cancel a PSN preorder I have to play it somehow.

It feels good to be back. And also back with a hell of a GPU.

Turned out it wasn't so bad. I opened it up and replugged the cable to the SSD, which fixed it. Must have came loose during shipping.

Not a game suggestion, but a suggestion. If you play FPS's I would say do yourself a favor and get a game you already own and like and play it on the PC.

I made this GIF back in 2009 and there was a reason why.

Using a Keyboard and Mouse for an FPS is just a different gameplay experience. The precision you get with it is drastic from a controller. But it takes a little getting used to if you have never owned a PC. So perhaps starting with a game you know and love would help.

This is if you play First Person Shooters. Other game types like Third Person games you very well may use a controller on your PC. That is going to be up to you.

It's pretty great. I've only used it for regular computing at this point, but it's everything as advertised so far. Great colors, the resolution is much better than 1080, it will melt your eyeballs with how bright it is, and it looks gorgeous. I'll update later about what the blacklevels, and lightbleed situation look like when it gets dark here. I'll also hook up the xbox to get some idea about the gaming situation, but I'll follow up tomorrow/tomorrow night with a PC gaming impression when my Envy arrives.

So I would possibly have this monitor upscale the 1080p if it means achieving 60 FPS as I know that higher resolution is going to have a pretty big impact on FPS, even with a 908Ti.

Yea, I was researching this as well, and the 980ti should be crushing most games at 1440p. I'm upscaling now from 1080 (the Surface Book has a glitch that is keeping it from getting past 1080p), not playing games, but it looks awesome. Much better than the 24" Asus I returned to get this one.

The 980Ti is the perfect match for 1440p no doubts. It can still do 4K in many games but if you really need stable 60fps, 1440p is the way to go considering future games also.

It will likely be back in a few days. It's pure conjecture but Ebates has 15% cashback @HP and I imagine they stopped sales at such a loss. Last year cashback went as high as 18% and the coupon was pulled as well.

Mine finally came today baby! Setup in 10 minutes. Another 25 mins downloading the essentials; steam, chrome, afterburner and removing bloatware and I was good to go.
