One by one. It's tedious, but it really doesn't take long at all, just right-click, uninstall. However, there is this Priceline.Com app that will not uninstall. I try to uninstall it, and nothing happens.

Gotcha. Weird, could be there's another app somewhere that it depends on.

There's a ton of options nowadays. I've been struggling with it too. I'm not going to force myself to make a decision until it actually ships, but I'm leaning toward MX27AQ.

Nice, yeah I'm looking for ones around that price range (or a bit less). Basically for me it boils down to 1080p 144 hz w/ g-sync TN panel or 1440p 60hz IPS panel. On one hand I've heard 144hz is a game changer, I highly value smooth visuals/frame rate and don't like dealing with tearing, stuttering, etc. On the other I've heard IPS looks excellent, it's higher res, and I could double it as essentially a new TV for games & movies.

Decisions...

So it sounds like adding a second drive was really easy for some, and tricky for others? Hopefully, it won't be too hard to clone the drive on to my new SSD.

I also need to look up the custom fan curves I've been hearing about.
I would imagine it varies on the cloning utility you use. The last time I cloned a primary drive it was with Samsung's included utility with the 850 EVO and had no issues at all.

That's good to hear. That's the exact (500 GB) drive I have, actually.

I just noticed I'll have to buy a SATA cable since it didn't come with one.

EDIT: And a way to connect it to the PSU? I really need to learn how to connect a drive.

Looks like FedEx has taken three business days to ship the unit from El Paso to Fort Worth, TX. Up until yesterday their website said it'd be delivered tomorrow, now it's updated to Friday...

I ordered on March 21st. It's still coming earlier than the initial estimate, but I'm disappointed nonetheless.
Say it ain't so!? Mine left el Paso today and said it will be delivered Tomorrow. Hope they don't delay it

I wonder if this deal will be around but with Pascal GPUs. I'd have to seriously consider it instead of just swapping out my GPU in my current PC.

No, your post was quite rude. I understand why others interpreted it as they did. I'm happy others are joining the PC gaming community, like I did a couple years ago. My PS4 hasn't even been plugged in for a long time.

It's all good. This has been a fun thread. Pretty huge change for most of us. Brings a bunch of memories of me scrounging through my parents computers trying to scrape together RAM and anything else I didn't think they'd miss for one of my builds.

Keep me posted. 1080p is difficult to handle with all my other screens being close to 4k at this point and I think the upgraded visuals is a good part of this for me at least. Wouldn't mind trying 144hz but ignorance is bliss at this point lol.

So I dug into the mysterious Priceline.Com in my START menu, and it's classic HP and their bloatware. It's not an app at all, but a shortcut that calls to WizLink.exe, and launches the browser to Priceline.

Here is the target:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\Shared\WizLink.exe" http://www.priceline.com/?refid=PLHBC6240OPQ&refclickid=square

I removed the shortcut by going into the Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ folder, and deleting it from there.

I'm so glad I'm just going to be flattening the machine and installing my own Windows from scratch. :-\

Did you uninstall all the cyberlink programs?

Gonna give Arkham Knight a spin on this thing. Now or never for this game I guess.

What's the easiest way to do this without a disk from them? I only have Win 7 disks but I'd love to do this too. Also keys not an issue I have a spare legit one.

EDIT - Actually I have a Win 8 Pro Retail Install Disk if that helps.
Can I downgrade to Windows 8 with it and then do the free Upgrade to 10?

Honestly, anytime I ever buy a pre-built I uninstall absolutely everything that is not vital to the system itself running. Depending on your needs, there are very few included apps you will ever actually use.

Arkham Knight's ingame benchmark tool was locked at 60 the entire time (minus one dip to 52 when the batmobile appeared) with everything maxed at 1600p.

Not sure if the actual game will follow suit but the bench mark was really pretty :)

It comes with Windows 10, simply activate it and then reinstall using the Windows 10 media creation tool to make a bootable disc or USB drive. The fresh install will auto activate as the HW has not changed much.

Finally jumped on this. Their website is terrible and really slow. If all goes well, my order will ship out on the 27th.

Wow, I ordered this PC on Tuesday night and just received an email saying it was going to arrive on Friday. My original ship date was like April 27th, which then turned into April 21st, and now is showing April 15th.

Thank you based HP.

Thanks. Will go this route as it is definitely the most official.

Can anyone confirm if this works? Im getting my desktop today.
So I posted right when I found it, but reading the comments on the video it seems hit or miss. Some people even talked about not being able to boot. That was probably user error but you never know. I am going to look into that official route above myself.

Truth be told I am going to see how much HP bullshit there is first and then decide.

Yep, I did it myself.
Nice really? And it removes all the extraneous HP bullshit but keeps all necessary drivers?
And just waiting on my delivery. Got to work from home even so was hoping it arrived a bit earlier but as long as it arrives that is what matters most.

This is good to hear. I'm planning to buy it again at some point when the price drops (I refunded my original copy because it ran horrendously on my old laptop).

I was able to take a look at the HP Envy at my local Costco. It wasn't the 980ti or 6700k combo, but it did have the 960 I think, and the 6700. I currently have a huge, obnoxious alienware wanna-be tower that I bought pre-built from Cyberware almost 5 years ago. The HP Envy is much smaller, more elegant, and doesn't scream "I'm a gamer!" I think I could actually keep it on the top of my desk, rather than on the floor like my current monstrosity.

Still waiting to get my shipping confirmation.

That's one of the things I really like about it. I still haven't completely worked the setup out yet, but I think my desk is getting moved to the living room so that I can easily hook into the TV for 4k gaming...my wife like Diablo and Rocket League. I don't think this will look too out of place with all our other stuff.

If you can please report back once you try it please!
I am thinking it may also remove the Recovery Tool itself which is no big deal but does mean if anything ever happens it would be a clean install. Which is fine. Maybe it does not remove it.

Yeah I am thinking the same thing. That I could finally either A) Hook it up to my TV without my wife complaining (in fairness to her my current PC is a monster of a Thermaltake case and/or B) I can keep it on top of my desk and not the floor so shit is easier to access overall. Just curious if the fan is going to be too noticeable at that point.

Damn FedEx get here already!!!

Lol, I'm guessing my wife will still complain until she sees some stuff running in 4k. I finally put in the monitor order. Decided on an MX27AQ, in large part because of how nice it looks. I'm really pushing for this family room thing.

Yeah it didn't do jack shit. Went through recovery/no backup. 10 minutes to format the partition and install windows files, another 20-25 minutes till I finally got the time/date settings. After ~45 minutes(no SSD yet) same bloatware that came default with the system and recovery partition still intact.

So this is a no go if you are looking for a completely clean install.

Ordered this a few weeks back.

Showed up...with the 745. Called HP to complain, looks like the system automatically swapped a 745 for the 980Ti I had ordered because the Ti was OOS at the time.

CS agent couldn't just swap the card and charge the difference. So he re-ordered a new PC and is having me ship the existing one back.

Guess that's one machine to add to the HP Outlet stock pile.

You can download the Windows 10 install disc direct from Microsoft. Won't need a key, as one is embedded in the system. It will automatically activate online.

That's as official as it gets.

Going to do this for the fresh install and then migrate the contents to the SSD. Hopefully it won't take too long.

Really surprised by how sleek and nice the case looks. It's a lot smaller than I expected as well. Did anyone figure out how to remove the Bang & Olufsen shortcut on the taskbar, though?

Do you mean the system tray? I don't have a Bang & Olufsen shortcut on my taskbar.

What a pain in the ass for you. Waste of your time. I hope you were able to have them give you something off the price. Like $50 or something.

Nope. No discount or credit whatsoever.

I even pointed out that they could just do a swap on the card itself, but the agent was adamant that they needed to do a full return and rebuy.

Hey, HP is paying for shipping, so no skin off my back. Just another week or two to wait for the new PC.

Put my hard drive from my old PC in last night.

Wasn't too bad. I pulled out the black metal plate thing over the GFX card and then left it out after putting the PC back together. Getting into the SATA ports without removing that would be unholy hell.

Also a small metal plate labelled I/O something fell out, and I could not work out where it came from for the life of me. It didn't seem to have connections for any ports or anything, and I assume it was connected to the black plate. Everything is attached and working fine so whatever. Go figure.

I was gonna put my old SSD in as well but it was a pain getting at the 3rd SATA port so didn't bother. Maybe this weekend.

Booted up Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight for a quick look, both ran super nice on my 1080p monitor at fairly maxxed out settings, although Ultra Witcher still seemed to have a bit of slowdown. Will take a better look this weekend.

That sucks and I'd feel the same way. It looks like they hit a rough patch with their supply chain earlier that might have been fixed for more recent orders. I ordered last night and my estimated delivery date is showing one week out.

Well god dammit. I have seen people that ordered much later than me reporting they have their's already as well. I got the...

where is the warranty info? all I see is a 30-day return notification, surely that's not it?

It's a one year warranty. You should have some HP tool installed in the start menu that give you specific warranty info. I looked at it last night.

I'm at work, so sorry I can't be specific.

EDIT: - im on my phone and didnt realize I quoted someone from the first page. I'll let my shame stand. Maybe someone will find the info useful.

How hard was it to get the metal plate off for the gfx and would I need to put it back after?

Planing on taking the 980 for myself and putting in my AMD 290 for my bro.

I recommend CCleaner to help clear out the crap and bloat and bad registry shit. I think i got most of the bad stuff out of the way. Everything seems to be as advertised on the component side. Gonna try some games soon for temp readings but the idle temps are surprisingly low.

I noticed the same exact thing. Could just be a bug with the Experience itself.
I manually installed the latest driver and it all works.

So besides the fucking Priceline shortcut on the Start Menu I believe I got everything else out. I swear that one little thing though really might force me to just start over and do a clean install. It is just half the reason I went with this computer was to save time. Installing Windows clean means time, so yeah, going to see if I can live with the annoying Priceline shortcut. But it is kinda of like a Zit on my back that I just discovered. Now I have to do everything I can to eradicate it.

I do have one question though.
Is it normal for the NB and DRAM Frequency of Memory to fluctuate in CPU Z?
I installed my own 8 GB of RAM and I honestly do not remember other builds I have done that the frequency of the RAM fluctuated. That could also be because whenever I did other builds I purchased the same kind, and brand, of RAM all the way through. So perhaps it is okay for it to fluctuate. I seriously am asking.

I installed Star Wars Battlefront and literally was able to max it all out, Ultra Everything, cranked the AA all the way as well, did 125% Graphics Scaling, and it does not break from 60 FPS (I also enabled V Sync as the tearing was atrocious, I still have an old monitor).
Honestly, now that I have this GPU, not sure how much longer a monitor from 4 years ago is going to cut it for me. It does have a 1MS Response Time though but it is older. So yeah we will see.

If it was not for the fucking Priceline Shortcut this would have been one of the best purchases I ever made. With it it is a very, very damn good purchase.

I think I'll just do a clean windows 10 install to not have to deal with tracking down every last bloatware shit on the PC. Hopefully everything (mostly drivers) I might want will be easy to find/reinstall, I'm assuming it will be.
