Peter Sterne at Capital New York reports that the popular website Gawker could be undone by none other than former wrestler Hulk Hogan, who is suing the company for $100 million for publishing portions of a 2006 sex tape featuring Hogan having sex with Heather Clem, wife of a shock jock named Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

A loss, and an award of even a fraction of the $100 million Hogan’s attorneys are seeking, could empty the company’s coffers, forcing [Gawker Media CEO Nick] Denton to either sell the company outright or to hand much of its equity over to deep-pocketed investors.

Nick Denton of Gawker confirmed the lawsuit.

I think the iCloud photo scandal was the catalyst for the lawsuit. Maybe time to prepare a case? Gawker sites refused outright to display and showed much disapproval of the iCloud leaks. However refused to remove Hogan's sex tape despite having orders from a judge and after repeated requests.

Honestly did not expect to hear about sex tape again. I usually try and ignore celebrity culture stuff. If it was a leak, then they need take a hit. They were lucky that posting the woman was raped and then sticking to their guns did not turn into something bigger.
