I don’t think any game coming out within the next year will be visually better than Horizon Forbidden West

Honestly it's too early to say that. Sony barely talked about next year's line up. And i have a feeling Spider-Man 2 is probably going to be better.

Nd cutscenes look good. Gameplay not so much.
Don't have much unaltered gamepaly shots. These are gameplay. Just character removed in photomode

And call me crazy but I still find UC4 more impressive in some spaces but it is brighter ad got more color

Maybe on PS8. lmao

I disagree big time, my friend. Tech advancements (software in particular) are accelerating much faster. I've seen way too much evidence to continue doubting what these machines are capable of when used by talented developers with large budgets: Matrix demo, Lumen demo, Lions Unity Demo, hell even select cutscenes in the TLOU Remake. As I've said elsewhere before, if you dropped a clip of any of these UE5 demos in GAF back in 2017, damn near everyone (myself included) would have said "maybe on PS8, lmao".

Count me among the people who views HFW as a bit overrated in terms of visuals, while also acknowledging it shits on 99% of all games in existence Would've been much closer to this if not for cross-gen:

Edit: Spider-Man 2 or some other unannounced 2023 game from PS studios will take the crown for best visuals.
No chance it would look anywhere near that.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm 100% sure we will see some incredible looking games even more impressive than the matrix and lumen demo.
I just don't think it will look nowhere near that gif you posted because that's a CGI trailer done recently.

I think TLoU looks better. Even better than Ragnarok. It's just the most consistent. And it better be, since it's the smallest of the three. Every room and area in that game feels hand crafted.

Cyberpunk on pc looks better.
I've played both, with Cyberpunk on a PC with a 3080. I think Horizon wins for me because of how colorful and varied the world is. Cyberpunk has that weird shadow and texture fuzziness I can't seem to get rid of and way too rigid animations. Still super impressive though

I feel like that there Spider-Man 2 is a contender for the crown in 2023, but I would agree Horizon:FW is the best-looking game out there to-date. A big part of that is an appealing world in addition to the high fidelity it's presented in. Lots of color and different biomes.

Closely followed by Demons' Souls remaster--there was a part early on that tricked my brain into a real-life fear response as a bad guy came around the corner and the light realistically bounced off him and the walls. For a split-second, I thought, "This guy wants to kill me; the guy holding a controller." I've been chasing that high ever since and haven't found it
RE7 in VR bruh.

You'll poop your pants.

Pretty sure FH4 looks better than FM7. But maybe my memory is playing me tricks since that was long ago and I didn't play the games that much.

FH3 is contemporary to FM7, not FH4. Again, 5+ years there hasn't been a new FM game since 7, that would be 2 FM releases missing under the old bi-yearly release schedule.

I agree. Apart from Guerilla's technical proficiency, part of why it's "better" -- at least imo -- that the environments themselves are beautiful. Many other developers have equally proficient artists, but they devote their time to rendering dark, gloomy landscapes. Horizon's world is more beautiful, colorful, and visually appealing than most others. That helps raise it above the crowd.

It's definitely the best looking game out atm,but there's a few UE5 games coming next year,so they should look better

There's something very off putting to me with Horizon's hero lighting. It looks bad in every shot I see it in, and makes the whole thing look and feel very generic. Combined with Horizon's fairly uninspired design work, it doesn't really land visually for me, despite actually being very technically impressive.

Wow. Very Hot Cake.

The hero lighting is probably my favorite graphical 'gimmick' it gives it a very unique look thats not common in gaming, so i dont see how thats generic? I hope Kojima uses it in his next game

Didn't i read somewhere that this trailer was mostly fake? The actual gameplay looked good but nowhere near the original teaser

IMO HFW is the best looking game graphically out there. It looks amazing. HZD almost for my money was one of the best looking games last gen and still holds up. But who knows what is coming out over the next year.

You're right. Cross-gen or not, it's a stunner. Truly, it is.

Like the game, dislike the game, fine. Whatever. The size of the world, the physics, the animation, the effects. All that it pulls off with the huge robo/dinos and their individual weak spots that, when you shoot them, flies off all over the place, really is a spectacle.

It really is a looker and a stunner that should not be overlooked.

When did I say it doesn't look any different? I said there was a difference but it's not as big as people make it to be. And no it wasn't that big of a leap, i've seen way bigger leaps between two 8th gen games from the same series.
it actually looks quite a difference if you look at the comparison videos.

It looks very impressive indeed and is targeting 4K 30fps so at 1440P there is lot of scope to improve the gfx. I prefer more realistic looking games. Not sure about release date but I am looking forward to Crysis 3, Stalker 2 and Hellblade 2. Hopefully Spiderman 2 is PS5 only.

I have some great news for you !

Oh look another PCMR like VFX and DonJuan that always sides with his Xbox bros to downplay Sony.

We know your kind 🙄

"My kind."

The mildly ironic joke of this whole thread's shit posting conversation is that "good game" I will get "eventually" is very likely going to be a future port of Horizon Forbidden West.

Thanks, Jimbo.
