Well I did not get alot of feedback on my request for help, so I decided to just get:
ASUS P8P67 DELUXE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
So I still need help as I am going to order stuff in batches as I can afford them. So here is what I need help with:
1. Is there special memory I need to buy or can I stick with my exisiting GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 8 Gigs of Ram in this new MB. If I need new RAM what is the reommended RAM to get?
2. If I plan to overclock the Sandy Bridge processor is the stock fan ok or should I get a different heatsink for the CPU? If so, which is recommended?
3. I plan to use my existing HDD, do I have to format it first before installing the new Mother board?
4. What is the recommended Thermal Paste to get when I install the CPU?

P6T series has very serious issues regarding memory. Mine does the same thing from time to time and I've fixed it a different way each time.
It could be bent CPU pins, your heatsink could be attached too tightly, or you might need to set the timings manually.

While the Intel X-25M series has proven to be a great line and very reliable over the past few years, it's simply outdated at this point, and it's hard to ignore the performance of newer drives that have come out.

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between these two GSkill Ram Sticks that are on Newegg. They are both the same price, but one says it is P67 compatible.

A question about SSDs: is it possible that things like constantly evolving controller designs are keeping the drives from dropping in price? Or is it that flash memory still hasn't proliferated enough just yet?

I bought the Noctua NH-D14 and that comes with a tube of their own Noctua HT-H1 thermal compound which has gotten very good reviews. So I didn't have to buy any thermal paste separately.

MY only concerns are is the case, are the better cases out there for relative price of 75 or so that I'm getting the HAF 922, the power supply to power my system now and down the road when I do possible upgrades, more ram, a possible crossfire with GPU, maybe another HDD.

I have a question GAF: SHould I get the 580 or 570? (the CPU will be the i5)

I only ask because for the price of the 580, I could get a 570 plus a few parts as well for my completely new build, so it would be cheaper. $150 out of the 580 price will buy me other nice PC parts.
BUt I fear the difference between the two cards is to big and I would soon see the difference in a bout a year or so if I choose the lesser card.
Is there really that much of a difference especially if I'll not be updating for the next 4 years, or am I just falling for the adverts, PR and benhmark jizz?

Looks pretty good. I find it funny you talk about saving a little bit on the case when you have a Deluxe motherboard, but looking at some of those bundle deals it seems like you can't get much better value out of both parts.Cyrus365 said:

I really don't know how hat effects games, but it seems nVidia has 4 areas that ATI doesn't on top of a pure gaming card: Phys-x, CUDA, 3D and multiple display. THough, I'm only interested in the Phys-x part as I won't use the rest nor does CUDA concern me as a gamer.

PPS. I'll only be playing in 1080p.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that depending on what you qualify as "hold up", a 570 might hold up for 4 years. Consequently it might not even hold up for the remainder of this year. All depending on your criteria.

1080p, all settings max, some AA and 60fps for modern upcoming games = a 570 won't hold up for long.
1080p, high settings, maybe no AA, 30fps, modern upcoming games = it should hold for a couple of years.

The great thing about SLI/CF is you can buy a good card now and when it starts feeling too slow you can throw another in there for much cheaper for a performance boost.

After more than six years with the same computer, I'm finally ready to put my new rig together. My current desktop endured his fair share of work during all this time, but you know it's time to renew your hardware when YouTube turns into hick-up central.
CPU: Intel i5 2500
Fan: Noctua NH-C12P SE14

1) It depens, you might run into multi-gpu headaches like compatibility and microstuttering. That withstanding, it's a good choice performance/money wise to buy another 570 rather than buy a potential 670.
2) SLI doesn't really give 2x performance, maybe 1.8-1.9 in better cases. Also it seems that gpus don't really drop THAT much in price when they become replaced by a newer line, so don't count on that too much.
3) Keep in mind that in many benchmarks, specifically the ones that the 580 only performs 1-3fps better than the 570, might be a case of cpu-limitation. The 580 is better than the 570 but wether or not it warrant the pricedifference is individual.

Finally installed that XFX 6950 2GB and my Corsair TX650w. Modded the 6950 to 6970 and damn, what a world of difference that made. Glad I went this route instead of the GTX 560 Ti.

Anyway guys I got an IPS231P, that is a 23" LG IPS-LED backlit monitor. Previously I owned a 17" CRT with 1280x1024@60Hz resolution so you can imagine the difference. No flickering anymore, the colors are great (even though I have to turn brightness as low as it can get) and everything is so sharp.
However I get some BLB and since this is my first TFT monitor I'm wondering if this amount of BLB is par for course or if I should exchange it?
I just saw that this monitor was released in 2010, but are the 2011 ones so much better? I was thinking of exchanging it for a Dell U2311 or an LG IPS236V.

That's a misconception. AMD does physics just fine, they're just not asshole enough to try to pressure developers into using a physics engine that won't work on other peoples hardware. Amd runs physics engines on the vast majority of games just fine, whether it's run off the cpu or gpu. Most implementations of the PhysX API are gimmicky. Same thing with CUDA, there are already APIs that do the same thing but aren't held hostage to a single brand. CUDA at least has some useful benefit in very specific applications for workstation machines. AMD has 3D supprt but it's not as developed as nvidia. AMD has better multi-monitor support than nvidia. You can run 3 displays off a single AMD card, you can only run 2 off nvidia cards. Don't get me wrong nVidia makes some great cards but PhysX and CUDA are pretty stupid ideas. Basically an attempt to consolize the PC market by locking people into only one companies hardware.

if you flash the HD6950 to HD6970 , how much hotter do the temps get and is it much louder?

Ok so an update on what i posted here yesterday. My bios was 1.2 and i updated it to the newest version 1.5. Updated drivers for pretty much everything in my pc from network card to soundcards. And the videocard is still not detected. What could be a reasonable explanation for this. We know it cant be that the videocards are broken or that the pci slots are broken since both were tested individually with each card.
